If anyone is wondering why their camera view is not following their movement. Make sure you have the "Camera to View" setting on in the view tab. Nonetheless, great tutorials Mr. Abbit! I would love to see more of these on different aspects of Blender.
This is my first blender project, it was great. I like how you broke it down into little tasks and told the viewer when they should pause and try. Thanks for helping me start my journey~
Just finished my first blender project because of this! I tried the donut but couldn’t figure it out, it was too much and to slow. Grant’s two videos on the other hand is perfectly paced and covers everything but in a more efficient, fun and memorable way😄
I've been 2D animating and working with visual effects for a couple years now so I've been through a lot of how-to tutorials and I can genuinely say this 2 part tut. is probably the best tutorial I've ever watched. Didn't have to go search up another tutorial in the middle of this one to go look up missing widgets, great use of shortcuts, gives you solid hands on experience using the basics of the software, clear and easy to understand, just 10/10! Great job. You've definitely gained a new subscriber.
A great tutorial - thank you so much for making it. I really REALLY like the way you kept saying "pause the video and catch up with me", it divided the tutorial up into smaller and more manageable chunks, and I feel I learned a great deal more as a result. It was a fun little scene to make. I struggled a bit with the rendering, as Evee 2.0 does things differently and there is e.g. no "ambient occlusion" box. After watching a couple of other videos I came to the conclusion that clicking the "turn on raytracing" box was a good idea (all the rest of the technical stuff went over my head!) If you're thinking of making a new tutorial, I'd really appreciate a tour of Evee that goes into more detail than "Evee isn't very accurate. Let's use Cycles." (Especially since I'm interested in NPR so I'm not greatly interested in accurate transparency etc.) Oh, and for anyone else who's struggling with dividing and arranging viewports: if you hover the mouse over the border between two viewports and then right-click, you get a little menu that lets you choose between joining or swapping the areas, etc. rather than Blender guessing. Having chosen "join areas", click on the viewport you want to get rid of. Goodbye hundred-viewport hell!
I followed your tutorial today and was able to understand all of it and keep up with you. The only thing I had issues with was at the end when we added the modifier subdivision stuff... it made some of my craters deformed (maybe those were the odd-shaped ones you warned about when creating them) and some odd triangle distortions showing. I left it as hard edged. Now, I need to figure out how to export this for Unreal Engine and have it import there as one object. Thank you for posting this tutorial.
Just a heads up if you're using a tablet or otherwise have "Emulate 3 Button Mouse" enabled, you wont be able to Alt+ Left Click to select an edge loop. You'll have to double click an edge to select the loop instead.
This was such a great tutorial! Do you know of any other things like this where I can go from here for 3d modelling?! There’s still so much to figure out!
Any tips if the ‘Shade Smooth’ function isn’t doing anything? Everything is looking good expect my rocket and exhaust are still ‘boxy’. Great tutorial! Learned a lot!
Thoroughly enjoyed both instalments. Love the relaxed pacing, the pleasant tone and the fun modelling project. Do you have a full intro-level course for Blender 4? If so, where can it be found. I'd be happy to pay!
Hello, Grant. Thank you for this tutorial. Could you please explain how you can zoom the cylinder like in 8:49 without the planet? When i do like this i zoom the planet and the rocket as well? Thank you.
Fantastic easy and simple tutorial. I have one question though. How can I add the modifier to all elements at once. I missed something I guess. Regards.
One tip of advice for the tutorial I didn’t understand that I imagine messes up a lot of beginners is you don’t hammer in when doing movements like insets rotations and moves to keep track of your transform section and make sure it matches yours cause if it doesn’t all kinds of issues happen later
For Reference, as of the Blender 4.2 update, Ambient Occlusion and Screen Space Reflections in the EEVEE engine have been replaced by the Raytracing option
Beautiful work. I wish there were some way to know which hot keys you are pressing during your wireframe work. I'm running the video at .25 speed to keep up, which means I do not have audio to follow the narrative. Without knowing which keys you're pressing, I was not able to reproduce your nice results.
Im new to Blender and was ready to give up until i found this vid. THANK YOU so much for your time. I was doing great, even adding my own style. Then you got to 42:15 you started talking about the video modifier, and you pointed out the blueish wrench icon, where you added the modifier. I do not have that icon on my toolbar. I actually have 3 or 4 less than you do. Can you please let me know how to make that icon appear i my toolbar or tray.. Again thank you for the time you took to make this tutorial. Hope you can help.. Happy new year
I think i found it in preferences!! when i open blender again, i see them, but they are not there when i load the file that i made from this tutorial. Im lost.
The one thing that's really messing me up, is that you keep saying that 3 is the hotkey to go to Face Selection Mode, but it isn't. 3 is the hotkey to get a straight on view in the x-axis.
10:30 While moving exaust I am facing the problem that rocket is also moving along with exaust whereas only exaust is selected! Sir please need help I am adding new mesh object the new mesh object is also like the grouped with the rocket so when i scaled down to new mesh rocket also scaled down 🤔
Hi, Thanks for the tutorial! I'm having trouble with the bevel step of the texture part around 33:18. No matter what I do, the beveled section doesn't seem to display any materials on it. When I click on the material tab on the right hand side, it says it has one, but it refuses to display it. Thanks!
I noticed at 7:23 when I scaled the edges down it moved the center of mass between the surrounding edges to the right which caused the vertices on the left to cave in more then they should. How do I fix this? Edit: I managed to fix it by deleting the edges and vertices on the line and remaking them from scratch. I still have no idea what was wrong with it though if anyone knows I would appreciate it.
I did so good up until the exhausts and for some reason when I try to scale the exhaust it is also scaling the rocket along with it. I made sure I dont have the rocket selected at all. But I dont know why it is shrinking when I scale the exhaust cylinder. I've been here for 30 mins trying to figure out why lol. What am I doing wrong?
@@grabbitt Thanks so much for your response! I think that's what I did. I ended up starting the exhausts over and it went fine. I have to say, for a newbie who literally downloaded blender today, I'm shocked at how much I've already learned. Your tutorials are so easy to follow and understand. Thank you! This beginner guide was the first I watched, and I'm definitely gonna binge some more!
I also had this same issue but a different solution, in case it helps anyone else. For me, I had to press shortcut key "O" (like the letter) to turn off Proportional Editing. It's up at the middle top of the editor. I must have accidentally clicked that instead of "0" for the camera viewport at some point. When proportional editing is turned on, nearby objects will move with the selected one, so every time I was scaling the exhaust, it would slightly scale the rocket too. Both of my objects were separated so it took me a while to find this. But still a great video to follow along with! Edit: Later on in the video, he explains it!
hello a game called Kombinera There are several moons identical to this one, I think he used your tutorial and I thought it was cool and wanted to share it
On the rocket part. When I select with alt, the edge I click on is white and the rest are orange and when I change scale it scales unevenly. How did fix this?
bruh I'm having the same problem. The only way I've figured out to get around it is to make sure I'm in wireframe mode and select all the lines at the same time. This makes it so it scales it at the center of the lines and none of the lines are selected white.
Actually I just figured it out. There's a tab up at the top that is called Transform Pivot Point. I had the Active Element selected while he has Median Point selected. When I switched it it fixed my problem when Alt Left clicking. The tab is next to the Transform Orientations tab which you most likely have Global selected. Hope this helps.
@@swwampyy7067 You absolute life-saver! None of my scaling was working the same as the video, and it's because my Transform Pivot Point had defaulted to 3D Cursor. Changing it to Median Point totally fixed it. Thank you!
Great Job! But sadly, I'm getting weaker by the day and I'm constantly thinking of upgrading my 2022 Zbrush perpetual license and subscribe to Maxon . I don't know if I can make it pass Christmas...I just don't know! 😢
You just have to decide if your return on investment is worth it. At the end of the day, how much money will you be making if you made the switch. I will not upgrade my brush 2022 or my substance painter 2021 steam version.
