I bought this a couple of months ago and haven’t regretted it. The developer is always adding more textures and features. You can always add your own to the library. The glass shaders are good. The latest feature is an animated water shader which is really cool.
It's important to note that the value of the addon it's not the materials, those are made of cc0 textures available online, the value itself it's in the structure that allows to load any set of textures into a material that is stored in the library and can be tweaked from the side panel without going into the node editor. The already 1000 configurated materials it's just a big bonus ;-) Also, I requested to expose the value attribute for the albedo, because the brightness attribute it's not much useful in most cases.
Unfortunately there’s still tiling issues as you can see in your grass example :) Although the developers said they will keep an eye on this issue they’ve still not done anything about it yet. Other than that, it’s a great addon :)
Just bought this package and I'm very pleased with it :) One thing I couldn't find in the manual (or I'm blind, possibly) is how to export a project done using this addon (for others to evaluate or to use on another PC), as the instructions specifically said not to used the blend project folders for installations. Or is this done on purpose to stop others (that haven't bought the package) from using the textures?
Hey Markom, thanks a bunch. I'll be getting that one as soon as my next paycheck comes in. - For another add-on, how about the TheGrove3D? They just released the new version 8 a few weeks ago. Or Graswald. Two amazing plugins which I've used extensively for my nature scenes. Couldn't imagine doing those with them. :)
ohhhhh you killing me on that one as I know they are expensive lol. I have been thinking about it for years, but I might have to actually have a look into it now.
@@Markom3D Yeah, I understand that one. I got it for Christmas last year. Got me the weirdest looks from my family when I told them I want weed and trees. :P Well worth it, if you've ever thought of getting it, since it's currently on a 5 year anniversary sale. And I got the PBR Combo. Wowie. That thing is amazing. So much faster and a lot more stuff to use. Thanks so much for this review! I'll now just need to figure out how to manually add entire library collections to it. Currently it seems to only be possible one material at a time?
I upgraded about a month ago to a ryzen 3900x, but I am still using mt gtx 980. the CPU now renders faster than my GPU. I also have 32gb of ram aswell. It cost me a pretty penny but it needed to be done.
The 2K textures are pretty limiting for final renders and adding my own materials was great until one day they were all gone. I know this is sponsored, but MaterialIQ has 4k textures and is more streamlined as it's right in the material panel so one less tab in toolbar can't save your own materials, but if I don't use a preset I'm probably making material for that one project anyway.
