Very Nice, Casey Next opportunity you could do a start to finish render composition and insert it on a video. I know there are tons of videos like these, but the way you do it is much better
Very good tutorial! Though it bears to mention that if you have your project set to color managed you can set the input color space of the EXR sequence clip to linear directly, with no need for the Cineon node.
agh for some reason when i add the indirect only, still the background is showing :/ i need to toogle off completely the visibility in order to make it work, and i dont understand why
best bet is to always document everything. time of day, month, camera lenses, light types, etc.. you can create an HDRI of the scene and use that to light in blender. if you can't create an actual HDRI you can use something like google maps on your phone to take a 360 picture for reflections and lighting. blender 3 now has really good shadow catchers as well which helps.
OMG i could cry. you are explaining the layers straight forward with a clear voice without any distractions. i checked like 10 tutorials about layers. thank youuu!!!
I really thought I’d be able to render out these passes separately to reduce the scene’s overall RAM but it literally does nothing for memory and is still failing. Anyone know how to fix this?
What reduces RAM is separating the render into different LAYERS, that you then render one at a time. The PASSES of each layer are not "separating" the output, they are just outputting additional, more detailed info, so I don't think they reduce anything.
Hello! I'm working on a 360 animation; and since it is getting quite heavy I decided to render in layers. I already divided the scene into different collections according to what I want to show in each layer, but when I render nothing appears; completely transparent. Do u know why this is happening to me and what I can do to fix it?? I have my setting as u did.
Part 2 suggestion: Dust bunnies, one sock, a dime and a piece of popcorn to go against the wall with your stool and blanket or maybe as asset that are part of your living room by the couch "video."
Since I've started down the Blender/Davinci/Houdini path, and get further away from the Ablowme ecosphere, I see your name pop up almost every single time I'm looking to learn a thing. You are awesome. This time I involuntarily remarked aloud, "Casey F*&^ing Faris!" But in a really nice and loving way. I think I might love you. But not in a stalkery-way. Like a non-kissing cousin way.
Very interested in the EXR compositing in Davinci. Is there a way to import the EXR so all layers become a node. Because if you have all layers on in blender, it will take very long to copy/paste the same node over and over and changing the layer... Thanks in advance
I could be wrong here, but I don't think the fusion loaders have been updated in a long time to handle that, you might be able to find something in reactor but unless you're doing a LOT of footage, its not really that much work to just copy paste. if you're digging that deep for massive amount of shots you might look into learning nuke.
Great work, i thought something like this was possible, but i was having a hard time sorting it out. I’m so pleased to see you creating Blender content, really appreciate all your videos, wanted to offer a small token. Best to you -Keith
