Daily #Blender Tip: Slicing objects in sculpt mode is useful after you’ve created a base mesh, as sculpting on separate parts can often be easier and more efficient as the separate objects can have higher Face counts. In this video we look at how to slice using masks. #B3D

how do you open the alternate tool option when you click the Box Mask tool? I only have access to the Box Mask but I can see a tiny arrow, just can't open it. Using Blender 4.0

Many thanks for the tutorial. I'm quite new to Blender, so I'm sure there's something I'm doing wrong, but I have followed all these steps, but the mask does not happen. By this I mean that I drag the line, and it looks like it's going to be fine, and then... nothing. The mask is not made, the object is unchanged. I wonder what is happening. Is there some box I haven't ticked?

Update: I was using mirror filter, but it was not applied. This was the problem. I applied it and the mask worked. Useful to know (for me at least!)!

Thanks for this wonderful tutorial. PLS help me out; when i slice my object following your procedure the masked part of the object would scale up to 2 times bigger than the unmasked part.
@BlenderSecrets
@BlenderSecrets Год назад
Maybe check if the scale is applied before going into sculpt mode. (Ctrl+A > Scale in Object Mode)
@ssodangi
@ssodangi Год назад
@@BlenderSecrets That did it! I didn't apply the scale of the object in question before going into sculpt mode. Thank you so much.

I have a question that may be a good idea for a future video: is there a way to use shape keys in blender to allow for something similar to the morph target nd morph brush in zbrush?
@BlenderSecrets
@BlenderSecrets Год назад
I already made that video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mk4hNz96acQ.html

is it possible to only remesh partially (faceset, mask, selection)?
@BlenderSecrets
@BlenderSecrets Год назад
Yes just mask the part you dont’ want to remesh, I think (not behind computer now, can’t check for sure)

How do i join 2 objects in edit mode then smooth it in sclupt mode? thnx
@BlenderSecrets
@BlenderSecrets Год назад
You can just select both in Object Mode and press Ctrl+J, then do a voxel remesh in Sculpt Mode. That would be my recommendation. In Edit Mode, can be complex. Maybe with a boolean union.

Wow, copied straight from Zbrush, I'm not complaining though
@BlenderSecrets
@BlenderSecrets Год назад
It's actually a bit different. In Zbrush, you have a slice brush that you can use to slice through things. That affects the geometry and it creates new polygroups (Face Sets in Blender). Then you have to go to an option called Fill Holes I think and close the separate poly groups one by one. At least that's how I remember it. I think Blender is a bit faster here as it closes the holes automatically for both objects. Maybe there's a way in Zbrush to slice and automatically fill holes, I don't remember.
