The thing is back in the Season 3 finale Twilight didn't just create a new spell, she took it a step further. If you take what Celestia said literally then Twilight created a new type of magic completely. I believe creating new magic is a prerequisite for becoming an Alicorn. Still though, this finale does leave one curious as to what they're going to do with Starlight Glimmer in Season 6. It's looking to be a year long hiatus this around.
I love this finale because of just how crazy it gets. I love how the episode starts with Twilight Sparkle practicing a speech she's going to deliver to a bunch of magic students. This is great because it shows just how far she has come. I love how one of the slides in her presentation is the CMC and another one is Rainbow Dash's rainboom and it's effect on the main 6. I love how Moondancer is there taking notes. I love how in the middle of the speech Starlight Glimmer is just there and at 1st it doesn't register but then she looks back and Starlight is just gone. I love how Spike says it would be crazy for Starlight to come back for revenge to make Twilight Sparkle feel better. And then she's just at the Cutie Map in literally one of the most relaxed positions. I love how cocky and competent Starlight is as a villain. I love the design of the time spell and how it just negates the magic Twilight Sparkle throws at it. It's funny how just touching the scroll drags Twilight and Spike back into the past. I love how it takes a second for Twilight Sparkle to remember she has wings. I love how Spike walks right off of Cloudsdale because he forgets only pegusi and alicorns can walk on clouds. I love how they both completely forgot about Starlight to watch Rainbow Dash's race. I love how Starlight is so good at using magic she can fly with levitatation and still use other magic. I love all the crazy awesome bad futures because of the interesting possibilities for fan fiction but especially the 1st one because we get an actual pony war. Also apparently Rainbow Dash became hardcore in this future having a metal wing and a chunk missing out of her ear and she has a scar. I also love Pinkie Pie and Maud being badass. I also love Celestia doing well in a fight. I really like the explanation for why the map still exists. I love how prepared Starlight Glimmer was in her plan to get revenge creating a Xanatos gambit. I love how Starlight using her great speaking to prevent the rainboom the 2nd time. I also love the scene of Twilight interacting with filly Rainbow Dash. I love the cliffhanger of the 1st part of the finale especially Fluttershy being badass. I love how in the 2nd future Chrysalis has taken over Equestria. I love getting to see Zecora being badass. I love how they explain find travel in a way most people would understand. I love how Zecora has created a village in the EverFree forest and started a resistance. I loved getting to see Chrysalis again because she is one of my favorite villains. I love the badass line Zecora delivers to Twilight Sparkle before she basically says fuck you to Chrysalis and just up and physically fights her. I love how this time when she went back in time Twilight is ready. I love how awesome the magical duel between Starlight Glimmer and Twilight Sparkle is. I love how they are both equal in terms of how magically powerful they are. I love how this time Twilight actually contributed to messing up the future by distracting Rainbow Dash with how awesome their fight was. I love how the 3rd future was one where Nightmare Moon won. I loved seeing NMM again and how she was just hamming it up. I loved seeing Rainbow Dash with a shaved head. I love how Twilight Sparkle completely outsmarts Nightmare Moon. I love how we then get a montage of different bad futures where Tirek won, Discord won and the FlimFlam brothers are destroying Equestria. I love how Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer are both willing to continue fighting as long as it takes. I love how Twilight Sparkle decides fighting won’t work and instead tries talking to Starlight and to show her one of the bad futures. I love how the last future is just complete desolation as far as the eye can see. I liked getting to see Starlight's back story even though I don't think the reason she did the things she did makes sense because it is a petty reason. I think the way Starlight gets convinced not to mess up the future although I believe her heel turn to good was a little too fast. I love how when they get back to the present a giant magic wave is created. I love how when the rest of the main 6 show up once Rainbow Dash notices Starlight she looks ready to fight. I love how this story rightfully increases Rainbow Dash's ego. It is also incredible how much their friendship has affected Equestria. I love how Twilight takes Starlight under her wing as her student so she can teach her about friendship and help her make up for what she has done. I love the song Friends Are Always There For You because of the lesson it presents and how it involves Starlight Glimmer, the main 6 and all of Ponyville. Also because Starlight will hopefully be doing things for her redemption next season I hope we get to see Sunset Shimmer in pony world next season too.
Season 6 will be a make or break season for a lot of characters. We have reformed diamond tiara and silver, reformed Gilda, and reformed starlight. Here's hoping they make these characters even better than before
The map remained because it was part of the spell itself. It was the power source to go back farther in the past than a week. Additionally, Starlight did not create the spell, she modified it. Writing (or rewriting) a spell is not the same thing Twilight did. According to Celestia, Twilight created new magic, not a new spell. The magic of friendship.
Time is completely non linear. It's not even a thing. It's relative co presence and sequence through conscious quantum states. There is no objective unit of time, it is measurable because it is not there. Paradoxes do not occur, though the concept of time itself Is a paradox. Checkout Zeno's Paradoxes.
I have a theory on how this one day could have so many different Outcomes:In the Sombra and changeling Timelines, Celestia must have killed(or something Close to that) Nightmaremoon, since she couldnt use the Elements to seal her again, after that she must have been devastated, walks in the garden and thinks about happier times, like when they won against discord, thats when she notices that the seal on discord is getting weaker, and uses a spell to strenghten it again, so discord never got free in those timelines. However Sombra and chrysalis happen around the same time, and when celestia stops one, the other starts taking over. Which one Celestia chooses is determined by the Butterfly effect in the Form of Fluttershy: In the Sombra timeline, Starlight intervenes AFTER Flutters fell down, while in the changeling timeline Fluttershy ended up befriending the bullies. This causes Flutters to become a tougher warrior in Zecoras village, while the Version that ended up on the ground still moves to ponyville even without her mark, since she already sang the song about staying, untill she moves to manehatten to shear sheep. How does this Change the villain line up? well the Fluttershy on the ground could still bring parasprites to town, which celestia has to get rid off since pinkie isnt there. So in one timeline Celestia has to clean up one investation around the middleof Season one, while in the other she has two, which could affect her decision as to wether she attacks Chrysalis or Sombra first.When Twilight and Starlight fight, it draws some Attention to them, eventually Celestia hears the rumors about the purple alicorn sighting in cloudsdale, which slightly influences her life Prior to Nightmare moons return, probably causes her to dodge a laser to the left, when she should have gone right, leading to nightmare moons victory. The incident, where twilight seals up rainbow by mistake, causes Celestia to hear the news about a foal being attacked by an unknown culprit, it reminds her of how Luna always took care of scared children as Guardian of the dream world (if she was anything like present day Luna, or the Luna from children of the night or Snowdrop) and those memories are able to convince Luna to become good again, but without the grief, they dont notice discords seal to crumble, like in the original timeline.I havent got many theories about the other timelines origins, but the wasteland could be the result of multiple or all villains fighting, while the Flimflam/Ferngully like one is one where celestia wins against all villains, but hasnt got time to care about the economy.

I think the future twilight took starlight to was the future they didn't stop starlight. Think about it if starlight was successful, there would be no ponies with any talents, so no weather manipulating Pegasi, no earth ponies to tend crops, and potentially no celestia and luna to keep the balance of night and day.
According to Celestia the spell Twilight perfected in season 3 created "new magic" which is apparently a big deal and enabled her to become an alicorn (though Twilight tells Spike there was more to it than just the spell). Making or altering spells in general won't make one an alicorn, or else many unicorn wizards would have become them (Starswirl created over 200 spells).
Grandfather Paradox: Starlight's plan is one, since if the Rainboom never happened, the Mane Six couldn't have beaten her to trigger her revenge plan in the first place.
I think the spell Twilight modified to get her wings made her destiny completely intertwined with the ponies connected with the elements of harmony. Aka her friends. Even though it was obvious their destinies were already intertwined. But the spell fully connected them as part of her. If that makes sense

+ardawen Yeah, I've heard lots of theories about the wasteland timeline. The parasprite one doesn't seem quite right, given that parasprites only eat food ordinarily, so trees, buildings, etc should have been left intact. Another theory I've heard is that all the villains survived and duked it out with each other until there was nothing left. Another possibility is some other villain that we haven't seen yet.
+Andrew Meyer Well maybe eventually Celestia or somepony else cast the spell Twilight did and it backfired the same way. But she did it at a later stage, a lot of the crops already eaten and there being a lot more parasprites then in the swarm of the century episode. The parasprites started to eat buildings and ponies died of hunger. After the buildings the parasites began to eat the trees and everything else Eventually there was nothing left to survive uncultivated farmland already began to form a wasteland, more and more ponies started dying, perhaps a few left for far away places (we know places like saddlerabia exist) and the rest of Equestria died and became a wasteland . (In actuality i think that the wasteland is physical representation of Twilights soul after realizing she may never be friends with her friends again (because what else is there left for Twlight without her friends, after becoming such good friends with them. (that's right, nothing )))
Maybe the last altered timeline was Starlight's. With everyone mediocre at everything, there would be no good doctors, no good builders, and no good farmers.

But as she followed Starlight Glimmer through that portal to the past and then coexisted with her for a while, when she changed the past, they literally both chose a different turn and now they're both in an alternate timeline, where the sonic rainboom never happened. We could see her younger version failing with hatching Spike from that egg and not earning her cutie mark, but this is a different Twilight now. So if Twilight from the timeline A will now return to the future (which is her present), it would actually be the _alternate_ present on the timeline B, because Twilight A is now on this alternate timeline since they passed the crossroads when the rainboom has been stopped from happening. Twilight B is here as well (we just didn't saw her in the episode), as well as Twilight A, which is from the original timeline. If she wanted to get back to her original timeline, she would have to get back to the past *before* the splitting point and somehow choose the original path, which so far is impossible because Starlight Glimmer will always be there first, thanks to her fancy spell, and she will make sure that Twilight will always go along with her to a different timeline than A (will it be B, C, D etc.). 25:05 Good point with the Map. Probable outcomes of different timelines (apart from the last one): Sombra timeline - Somebody wins the war eventually. Probably the good guys. Chrysalis timeline - Chrysalis definitely wins and takes over, stomping out all resistance. However, in a society where Changelings are on top and get to live the cushy life, it's only a matter of time before they start sharing love, so not such a happy ending for Chrysalis after all. Nightmare Moon timeline - Twilight told Rarity Starlight Glimmer's name. Nightmare Moon's next move would obviously be to go to Starlight's Town, get her, get Starswirl's spell and force her to remake her own time spell, but without the Cutie Map's existence, no success. It would become an obsession for Nightmare Moon. Discord timeline - Chaos. Chaos forever. But Discord doesn't make any friends. Sad ending for him too when you think about it. Tirek timeline - Tirek absorbs everyone's magic. He's probably looking for the Tree of Harmony in the few seconds Twilight is there, because that's the only thing that can stop him now. Flim and Flam timeline - All of Equestria becomes Las Pegasus. The ecosystem is demolished by the greed of ponies.
Trivia: 1. A reality in which Trixie took over equestria was scripted, but was cut from the final product due to time constraints. 2. A reality in which Derpy ruled was proposed but was cut as it took away from the tone 3. Another scrapped reality would have been Twilight meeting with an older Starlight standing over a desolated world. In it older Starlight would have pleaded with Twilight to forgive what she did and beg her to stop her younger self. This was scrapped as it was deemed too dark for a child's show
Eh, it's kinda hard to tell what happened. Looks like Chrysalis' magic knocked a couple other ponies over somehow? If that didn't kill Zecora at point-blank though I think it's unlikely that any of the characters in the background were killed by it.
"When you go back you can't change anything" I like to think that's a subtle hint. Starlight wanted to gain influence over the rulers of Equestria. She tried the direct approach, brainwashing Twilight. Didn't pan out. So after she stalks Twilight, gaining info about who she is, and how she thinks, which do you think Starlight does? A. Enact a revenge scheme that involves making a spell 500x more potent than when it was cast by the element of magic, and doesn't even work that way (terminator rules not back to the future rules,) a scheme that cannot possibly work as she gives Twilight infinite tries to stop her... or... B. The pony known for manipulation and mind control knew Twilight would welcome a "reformed" villain, so she hit spike and twi with a hypnosis spell, and this whole episode is what they think they saw to convince them she was good now. Starlight Glimmer, who since went on to gain influence over the two sisters, installed a vizier in the court of the crystal empire, and staged a coup placing a close friend at the head of the changeling empire, and now molds young minds across the world.
I would how the time and travel and time line thing and how she dosnet run into her past self trying to stop starlight the previous but it as difficult as trying to teach a dog how to cook idk why or how I understand it

She was a child. And Sunburst was probably her first and closest friend. I don't think she really understood how to move past it. All she knew was that it felt like shit, and she never wanted to feel like that ever again.

Don't know if you're keeping the channel family friendly or not but if you're alright with some swearing (or don't mind taking the time to edit them out) then I suggest you react to the Two Best Sisters Play episodes from oldest to newest. It's one of the funnier things to come out of this fandom and the quality improves significantly with each episode.
+Tanerion We are trying to stay family-friendly as much as possible, but I can tolerate a bit of swearing. I think I've seen an episode of Two Best Sisters play at some point and I agree it was pretty funny, not sure whether anyone else in our group has already seen the series or not.
Andrew Meyer You need a Pony Watch After Dark channel :P Two Best Sisters Play has a lot of swearing but it's mostly just swearing for swearing's sake and not for the shock factor. They use their everyday language and don't go out of their way to be as vulgar as possible like a lot of other LPers.

It is still unbalance right now. 2 Pegasus + 2 unicorns + 2 earth ponies + 1 alicorn= 7 I think sunset shimmer is an alicorn. And by the show logic alicorn= princess. Either in eqg4 or season 6 sunset will step through back into equestria with the shock of her life. I could see sunset panicking about wings.
