Blind Dating Show Leaves Me With No Hope For Humanity 

Frustrating to me but it seems like every point I was trying to make was lost to interpretation in this video. From the guy that had kids you'll probably never see, the arbitrary number goals, and wasting years of your life because the dating to marry topic. I guess thats on me. I am one of those who has the "dating to get married" motto, NOT because I wanna get married at the age of 21 lmao, its because I wanna have a serious relationship and put effort into a healthy relationship and THEN see how it works out for both of us. I am not into hookups or fwb stuff. And regarding kids, I believe that kids are a sensitive topic these days, some people are very maternal/paternal in nature and genuinely do wanna have more kids than someone who just wants 2 (or none), if in the future you find out your partner wants more kids while you don't, it usually creates a conflict of interest. Its always good to have an honest conversation of where you stand and what your opinions are and then decide where you want to go from there (and obviously do keep the assumption that things could change in the future and how you would incorporate those changes in your relationship).

I don't watch reality shows because there are so many dumb people, but seeing them getting called out by Ken and Buff is too good to miss out on.

I feel like the "dating to get married" comments are really just "I do eventually want to get married, so if you aren't interested in marriage, we probably won't work out." Personally, I don't find this a negative thing, especially now that hookup culture is definitely a "problem" some societies face. The fewer people actually getting married(even without the legal signature) and raising kids together, the more our society suffers. I feel as if "dating to marry" makes it clear that, "Hey, if you just want to hook up or have a short-term relationship, that's not my vibe." I don't think it actually means, "I want to marry you asap".

If someone says that they are “dating to get married”, it usually means they are only interested in serious dating. Not just hooking up randomly.

There’s nothing wrong with people having their own criteria: not wanting kids or having more than three . It was responsible for him to say that especially since he comes from a big family and knows the struggles of that he could be the oldest . Plus no one should have to compromise their wants either that just means they are incompatible.

My cousin was eldest girl in a family of 14. She was a mother all her childhood and teen years. Wanting more than 2 kids WAS an absolute desl breaker for her and I get it. She needed a chance in life to just be herself or enjoy being a wife / girlfriend without childcare duties.

As a woman who’s been in a serious relationship for 12 years, I’m shocked that these single people care about things that literally have nothing to do with a real relationship 😂

Personally I wouldn't get into a relationship with someone who wants kids, because I don't want children. Ever. For my own personal reasons children just aren't an option and I would feel bad if they really want kids in the future. It would be doomed from the start because no matter how much we get along, I can't make them happy. But that's my personal opinion.

Honestly as someone who doesn't want kids, it's a pretty reasonable decision to hit the buzzer at this and not picky at all imo. Like she said it can be a more complex situation. When kids are involved it's a packaged deal no two ways about it if you want a healthy relationship. Especially if you're thinking of dating as a long term thing and not just for the sake of it.

Thing is with Kens "I don't get the dating to get married". We are in the middle of hook-up culture so to say you are dating to get married it lets someone know you aren't looking for a 2-night date and bang.

But what if you date for years thinking you’ll eventually marry and your partner says “no I don’t ever want to get married”? You need to specify. Just because you say you’re dating to get married doesn’t mean you’re going to stick around if you don’t enjoy the persons company, you then leave and move on but it’s a way to know if they’re looking for something serious.

Dating is so terrifying. I am so glad I don't have to do that. I got married to a work buddy almost 10 years ago, with no dating, and I know that's really weird, but it just worked perfectly. We are still BFFs to share the love of video games, books, our favorite films, and favorite foods. In my humble opinion, I think the most important thing got any type of relationship is complete disclosure and honesty. Tell the other person exactly what you're looking for, and don't keep any secrets about anything. It's just not worth it.

I think the dating to marry thing isn’t a big deal from the boy’s perspective. Because either you will or you won’t. As a woman who dated a LOT (especially online), a lot of men weren’t dating to get to know anyone. They weren’t open to the idea of marriage. They just wanted hookups. And that’s where the “dating to marry” thing stemmed from. If “five years down the line they don’t wanna get married still so you just break up” you’ve wasted FIVE YEARS on this person.

I feel like "I want a serious longterm relationship" is better than "I'm dating to marry" or w/e. I never dated to get married per se, but I always dated with the intention of being with that person for the rest of my life, if that makes sense. I wanted a wedding, so I guess technically I dated to get married, but there was never a time limit on it. I just wanted the fancy party one day, and I thought it was pointless to be with someone if the relationship was doomed to fail from the beginning. I actually was once in a relationship similar to the idea of one person dating to get married and the other not. I was with this guy for 4 months and started falling in love with him. His reply was that he would never love me. I felt so incredibly used, and he was confused as to why I was so upset and as to why I felt I had to break up with him. He thought we had a great relationship. I found out a little while later that he was basically just dating me to get laid. This guy was near perfect for me, so I was absolutely crushed. I cried for days, the longest I had ever cried over breakup, especially for such a short relationship! I always felt that if you want to just mess around, mess around. If you want to be in an exclusive relationship, it's a road to falling in love. I went to wedding events with him for his friends' weddings as his bloody +1, we talked about our future together! I can't remember everything we did but we weren't just hookup buddies, we were a genuine couple. I realized a few years later we both just had different expectations from our relationship but what that translated to was one person working toward a more traditional relationship and another who just wanted the physical.
