I was fortunate enough to find a used copy of Last Year at Marienbad in a store. It’s an amazing work of art that i consider top tier of French art house films. I love the surrealism in it.

oooh! I love Alain Resnais' films! I also have these, including the OOP Last Year At Marienbad but excluding Night and Fog and Mélo. LYAM is such a gorgeous film and so strange. Not for everyone but I love it and find Resnais' films overall to be so interesting the way he portrays and plays with characters and sequences. Hiroshima Mon Amour is one of my favorite films. Je t'aime Je t'aime reminds me of Eternal Sunshine. Also, Delphine Seyrig is one of my favorite actresses and she's the main actress in LYAM and Muriel. She's superb! btw, Resnais is pronounced more like René. The s in the middle is silent. ooof, I also have the Rohmer Arrow sets in my wishlist! I really wish I knew about them when they came out. But I'm also hoping Criterion will be able to release at least some of those films. They have the Four Seasons films on The Channel currently so here's to hoping!

I've seen all 4 of the Resnais Criterion films and they are all very good my ranking order is MARIENBAD (10); HIROSHIMA (9); MURIEL (9) and NIGHT AND FOG (8). I haven't seen the two non-Criterion films MELO and JE T'AIME. You got a great deal. Resnais' other films I've seen are also good: LA GUERRE EST FINIE (THE WAR IS OVER); STAVISKY; PROVIDENCE; and MON ONCLE d'AMERIQUE (MY AMERICAN UNCLE).

I'm not able to buy online. I have a store in my area I go to and get stuff from but it mainly offers basic mainstream titles. And even that is limited. I go out of town twice a year and on those trips my purchases are way more interesting. My first one for this year will be this coming August so we'll see what I come across when the time comes. I did pick up things recently but mainly newer titles. (John Wick 4, Puss In Boots 2, Shazam 2, Ant Man 3, Creed 3, Fabelmans). I also got two Pixar films I was missing, Luca and Lightyear. So now I'm missing five films to complete that collection. I got Encanto which means there's only three titles left I need to get from Walt Disney Animation. (Those are Strange World, Frozen 2 and Raya). I picked up three Ridley Scott films and three from Chris Nolan. Those being the Martian, Last Duel and House of Gucci for Scott. And Interstellar, Dunkirk and Tenet for Nolan. I'm still missing quite a few of Ridley's films and for Nolan I need five titles to complete his filmography. (Not counting Oppenheimer which hasn't come out yet). That's my recent acquisitions. Very basic but it's something.
