I love how Hauer had just played one of the most chilling forces in movies, with The Hitcher. Than he followed it up with this gem. I read in an interview that he was attracted to playing a good guy.

P Rutger Hauer I think that Blind Fury was a absolutely fantastic movie from the 80s I watched it many years ago on the very old video players and I must of watched it about 30 times because I thought that it was that good and no matter how many times you see Blind Fury it is always a brilliant movie to watch.
This scene was filmed after the movie was completed. The powers that be decided they wanted a little more Uumph added. So Rutger worked a week with Kosugi, honing his sword skills, and the rest as they say is History
@@Yuurei21 Hahaha, you don't know much about Zatoichi. He was invented as a minor character for a novel by the Japanese novelist Kan Shimozawa in 1962! There were 26 films about Zatoichi made in Japan between 1962 and 1989. Blind Fury is loosely based on the 17th of these films. From 1974 to 1979 there was also a TV series in Japan in which Katsu starred. The same Katsu who appears as the villain in this clip.
@FredPlanatia As I said, this movie led me to the Zatoichi film series. I know Blind Fury is an Americanized version of that character. I didn't say it was the other way around.

Just because someone cant see means they are "Blind". Other sciences come into play, like hearing. Never give a blind person the benefit of the doubt nor pity them. That's NOT what they want, treat them as you'd want to be treated, as a human being. They are as we are human. No less, no more. Q
