Bought Sacred 2 because of this album. I started reading Wheel of Time because of this album. I started Game of Thrones because of this album. I started reading Michael Moorcock because of this album. It’s safe to say that Blind Guardian has been very influential on my life.
Sadly the studio behind Sacred 2 fell apart partially because of this. The cameos and extra cinematics caused further delays for a project already behind schedule and delayed a console release to the point where the studio could no longer pay the bills.
Everyone here is like "oh Blind Guardian made me read The Wheel of Time" meanwhile i'm just like "The Wheel of Time made me come to listen to Blind Guardian". I deeply loved Robert Jordan's books, and when Sanderson took up the pen to finish the epic i feel like he did it true justice. Unlike what Amazon did >.>
Wheel of Time is so epic it triggered the biggest literary rabbit hole of my life! I ended up reading not only all 15 WoT books, but basically everything from Brandon Sanderson which is easily twice that 😅

I grabbed this album after hearing the song inside "Sacred 2" back when that came out, and I still regularly play this album. Its really f'n good. Honestly both the game and this album aged quite good.

It's weird hearing BG covering this song, especially since it sounds like it could have been sung by Farnham himself rather than a professional power metal band.
Tanelorn has always been one of the most fascinating topos of Blind Guardian. The solo starting 13:00 is outerworldly, if only that part would last longer

Holy crap, they actually removed the high pitched whine from "Curse my Name" At first I thought I was finally old enough to lose an 18khz tone, but checked an older version and sure enough, it's still there.
Absolutely love this album! Saddened it was the last one with Oliver Holzwarth on bass. He's the reason I got serious about the instrument. But damn I love this album!
I love this band and all their music, but I must say that my favourite ones are probably those relating to Tolkien (or the Trojan War) because I can understand the references without feeling like an MCU meme. Anyway I enjoy them no matter that!

They played two shows on the first 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise. I got to see them live twice on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean. 😁 It was the most incredible experience!
I love Blind Guardian. I love the songs on this album. Remember ordering both the album and the Voice In The Dark single around the time it was released. I hate with passion the job that was done on mixing/mastering. Honestly, nothing switched me away from Blind Guardian the way that all the clipping/distortion happen in Wheel Of Time. Whoever is responsible for this ruined a masterpiece. Most of the culprits listed below, if you never heard them I both feel happy and sorry for you. I wish they'd tone down the plastic orchestral parts and limit them to intros and outros. Blind Guardian's problem has been quantity over quality since Nightfall basically. Just layer after layer of unnecessary stuff crammed into the songs instead of focusing on a few GOOD riffs and melodies. It's like listening to several songs simultaneously and neither of them is very good. :(

"masturbatory studio flagrancy" to be specific,, i said thst my first play through of Night at the opera. but ive found that theyve actually ascended. my all time favorite song is on ANATO. i never expected it. ASCEND brother, only then can you know the true gifts of the divine.

Конечно Blind Guardian стали делать абсолютно не цепляющую музыку после 1992 года. Всё, что хоть как то может удерживать внимание, это бесподобный вокал Ханси Кюрша. Но из-за слабости материала и мелодической основы, - и он выглядит не так впечатляюще, как мог бы.
Pretty much. Beyond was mediocre with horrible production, The orchestra album again had bad production and was subpar at best and the God machine is their worst album ever.

@@eslwgpg1226 xD sure. Wheel of time alone is better than the whole god machine put together. And its not even close. Beyond is better than the god machine easily but it was mixed by a 5 year old, just like a twist in the myth. And I have seen BG 16 times live since 2002, when they had a real drummer. Best regards.
@@King_Alistair6723 you’re just plain wrong dude. God Machine is their 4th best behind Imaginations, Opera, and Nightfall. Edge Of Time ranks #8 at best. Life Beyond The Spheres, Damnation, Architects Of Doom, Destiny, Blood Of The Elves, and Secrets Of The American Gods all trump anything off of ATEOT.
