Blind Reaction: Hazbin Hotel Season 1 Episodes 1-4 

My reaction to the second half of S1 will go up whenever it's ready and cleared copyright wise, probably somewhere in the Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday range if I had to guess.

I feel obligated to point out how horrified Charlie looked when Adam grabbed her arm because he was still just a hologram.

I think part of Angel dusts anger towards Sir.Pensius is that he was working for the V’s, which means that this hotel- his safe place- was being invaded by the very person he was trying to escape. Plus the whole role playing thing really must have felt like they were mocking and insulting him. He was the evil drug dealer, and the snake was the innocent child who got all the praise.

I've seen people saying "How can they show Adam in such a negative light?!!" And I need to say Adam was actually a pretty shitty person. After he ate the apple instead of apologizing to God for breaking one single simple rule he was all "Well, Eve gave me this apple, and YOU gave me Eve so it's all YOUR fault!" and that's why he and his wife were banished. So yeah, Adam's a jerk.

Valentino's body language is so good. When he's talking to Charlie he consistently tries to remain roughly at eye level with her, where as with Angel there's rarely a shot where he isn't looking over him or putting himself in SOME position of power over him.

@2:02:10 Val understands the power dynamics in Hell that's why no matter how pissed he is at Charlie, he tries to keep his cool because she still IS the Princess of Hell and getting on her bad side translates to getting on the bad side of Lucifer, Hell's head honcho and he doesn't want that kind of attention on him. That being said, it leads to him taking out Charlie's missteps and faults on Angel Dust. It is a horrible yet realistic portrayal of power imbalance in a master-slave relationship.

So I could be wrong, but I think the Workload of the VVVs is divided into Vox-supplies all the technology and funding Velvet- creates the shows, designs, and handles public promotion Valentino- has the manpower, (“I employ every down-on-their luck loser”) So Val definitely has the least work since he’s literally Pimp-ing and delegating everything.

As soon as you mentioned it, I could literally hear Moxxie saying "Carmine" but I had to make sure, so I just checked, and Moxxie in season 1 episode 5, when he sees the weapon Striker got, he says: "Oh my crumbs. A genuine Carmine-crafted blessing-tipped rifle."

One thing that may have made Angel feel worse in ep 2. Is the "no sexual intercourse before marriage." He's a sex worker. A gay one at that. Who may never get married. And he definitely didn't get to when he was alive and in the mafia. That line was basically a direct jab at everything Angel is

I mean, it wasn't just venison, it was raw, and possibly rotten. Also Al eating deer is him finding another way to cannibalize, since he's a deer demon.

Something that I hadn't noticed until now. The meeting room that the overlords meet in, the weapons mounted on the walls are all angelic weapons. It further speaks to the confidence of Carmilla in that she can put angelic weapons on the walls of her meeting room while surronded by people with the desire to take her out and steal her terf.

For context, the reason Charlie had that lightbulb moment when she learned Adam's name was because of who her parents are. Her father is Lucifer, who she was subbing in for, but her mother is Adam's first wife Lilith. In short, Lucifer asked his daughter to meet with his wife's ex husband so he wouldn't have to. Which considering Lucifer ALSO claims to have had a relationship with Eve as well was probably a good idea.

So the thing about Alastor and deer is that he was a cannibalistic serial killer in life and was accidentally killed by a deer hunter. So his demon form is a deer. And believe it or not in real life deer are not only opportunistic omnivores (they don't actively hunt but will eat any meat they can easily get) but *Red* Deer are also cannibalistic.

Can’t wait to see you react to ep 5 & 8. This show proves adult animation can work as a deep character driven story & new IPs should be given a chance without all the strings. I like to think this will encourage more original animation/stories & even revive others that got canned like infinity train.

So I noticed recently Vaggie has a minor slip of the tongue in episode 3 when they are on the roof. As she is talking to Charlie she refers to the people of hell as “your” people, not “our”. Almost like Vaggie doesn’t see herself as a sinner. If Charlie had paid better attention to things Vaggie said and how she acted, she might have realized the truth before Adam try’s to ruin their relationship. I mean is isn’t rocket science. Lol

I just wanna put this out there because I don’t see many other people talking about this. I think Vox might be jealous of Angel. At first, I assumed Vox didn’t really think about Angel at all except for when Val brings him up, but there are certain signs that point to him being jealous towards Angel. In episode 2, Vox is never shown to be interested in discussing Angel himself except for when he needed to reign Val in. Also, when he said “Oh Angel quit?” he was smiling and that was the only time he smiled during most of that conversation. In episode 4, during the Poison portion of the episode (specifically the last part where Angel looks down from a balcony and sees Val & Vox), Vox went from what appeared to be genuinely happy to a look that basically read as “What are you looking at?” Then immediately after his mood was soured, he teleported away. This could either be obvious and I’m wasting my time talking about this or just wild theorizing on my part. But I just wanted to discuss it since not many people are bringing up this theory/possibility.

The episode with Angel is amazing. It shows how horrible the situation he's in. How he feels like its his own fault for the abuse he goes through. He hides his pain and torment behind a sexualized facade, pretending it doesn't bother him. A lot of ppl expect SA victims to avoid sex and physical contact, but that's not always the case. Some instead use a sexual persona to convince others and themselves that they are ok. So props to them showing a side of SA Abuse that often gets ignored or demonized. Also...that last line of the song Poison...the voice actor just NAILED that pain and misery in his voice at that moment.

I really appreciate how you showed the songs in all of thier glory. Several RU-vidrs either mute or alter or skip the songs completely due to RU-vid being a "CU Next Tuesday". However, messing with the songs really takes away from the episode reactions in a big way, and saps so much of the enjoyment out of sharing the moments with the reactors. I'll be waiting to see your reaction to the rest of the season! I love the way you did these in giant mostly-uncut chunks.

Everyone hates Valentino but be honest. If you hate him, you hate him bc of his personality or bc he's not a good (well written) character. Because I think Val is a Horrible monster but as a character he's awesome. Good VA ✅️ Cool looks✅️ Sick powers✅️ (that smoke chain around Angel's neck looks cool) Interesting ties to a character so he can be a good villain✅️ He's a monster but come on, as an antagonist in an animated series, he's great (near perfect in my opinion)

This is random but Carmilla's earings are driving me crazy. They are inconsistent in every shot. Sometimes it looks like they are hanging from her hair, sometimes the hair isn't in the loop of the earring at all and during her song in the mirror scene the hair went through the earrings in the reflection but not through the ones of the "real" Carmilla

I don't understand how Charlie is "Acting like a child" in episode four. She did mess up, Val's behaviour is in no way okay, but Angel did set a boundary with her, he needed to work then that he needed her to leave. And once it was too late for that she couldn't just wait for the to finish filming she interfered again. Val justified it as "Your friend messed up so you get punished". She did cause the confrontation with Val. And she felt bad again understandable, I would feel AWFUL if I cause one of my friends to be hurt in anyway. She knows that Angel doesn't have to forgive her and even would understand if he didn't so when he does forgive her with out a second thought she is touched and relieved and happy and overwhelmed, that kind of emotion often can lead super feelers like Charlie to be emotional. I don't think being touched that a friend accepted your apology and genuinely forgives you is "Acting like a child" Also do keep in mind Charlie is VERY sheltered.
