It took 10 years but Jaune FINALLY got a solo song.

I love Jaune's song. Since Beacon fell, he's been on timing nonstop, training while others sleep, holding onto every failure. And just when he forgives himself for Pyrrha, he had new guilt for what he had to do for Penny. And he held onto that guilt, working himself to the bone for decades, until that moment with the Gems where he just had his moment, had his friends hug him, and he finally accepted his failures and opened himself up to a better future. Quiet is the perfect song for him.

I was waiting for this all day! Worthy: This song is beautiful, and the vulnerability both Blake and Yang display melts my heart. I like your arguments regarding part 1 and when Yang fell for Blake. It's obvious with hindsight 😊 Trapdoor: I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately read this as a song about suicide (along with the obvious depression). Thinly-veiled at that. It's hard to listen to without tearing up, honestly, but it's one of my favorites. Guide My Way: Nothing to add; this song is amazing and your read on its meaning is pretty much spot on. The video used here is my favorite version, too.

Time for bits of thoughts on each song, yay -Inside: i absolutely love the part in the bridge where among all the chatter there is a scream of "I'm not lost!". It has so many meanings you can get from it, from desperate convincing oneself to saying this to others, to plenty more. Also the last "inside" which usually plays during burning book/Jaune segment of the intro really makes my heart skip, Casey really did something with her voice there and i like it sm -Checkmate: not much to say, just a fun song. Love girls kicking asses -Chatterbox: love it so hard. Always fun to get a Neo song. I love that this soundtrack can use the fact that this volume is so wacky to try out different styles that you won't normally get -Worthy: i don't have much to say, i don't like bees. Song is cool when removed from it's context, i like the harmonies -Trapdoor: YASSS the Ruby breakdown song, love it sm! "You don't need me anymore, you don't see me anymore" really hits close to home, and the worst part - it's true. Literally this volume summarized. And even more so the scene it played in - when bees and whiteknight paired up to fight Walkers and she was just frozen on the sidelines. They were fighting all normal, they didn't need her. I just wanna give my girl a hug. Also i think there are plenty of ways to interpret "i am a trapdoor". I took it as "i'm the one letting everyone down", taking it literally - a trap door, you step on it, you fall down. -Quiet: OUR BOY JAUNE GETS HIS THEMESONG AFTER 10 YEARS! And what a themesong it is... He needs all the hugs too. He's so traumatized by everything - "no more sudden movements, please". This first line breaks me every time. -Guide my way: obviously an amazing song. What i love most of all about it, is it's place in RLR line: RLR1 was a brief introduction to her team, and then jumping into a fight, no time for rest. RLR2 was about Summer and all the feelings there. And RLR3 is finally about Ruby herself and who she wants to become now that she's been basically forced to think on that. Beautiful. Other highlights include "a moment of quiet is all it takes to reclaim a life and a promise made" - she literally only needed a moment to breathe and process everything and all of this could've been prevented. -The edge: not much to say, so i'll just bring up that RWBYJ literally met The God of their world(s). That would be fun to explain to others

- Inside - Still a really good OP. Pretty hype. I’m still not sure if it beats V8 and/or V2’s for me. Regardless, a banger. - Checkmate - Obviously plays during the chessboard fight in ep 3. Oh my god this is still a freakin bop. So funky. And that breakdown?! When it goes full club beat?! Too good. Pretty sure it’s my favorite track. - Chatterbox - Played during the fight with the Jabberwalker at the market in ep 5. It’s about Neo and the Cat, as you probably figured. The very start reminds me of the OP for season 1 of Promised Neverland. Anyway, the way Casey’s voice gets raspy on that last “out” is perfection. Another bop. Not surprised. - Worthy (BMBLB pt 2) - Obviously , I don’t even have to say it, ep 6 Bee Confession. Oh my god it’s too pretty. Even uses lyrics from BMBLB from the V4 soundtrack. Ugh my feelings. Why is this so sweet? I’m dying here! I can’t! Can’t believe the Bees invented romance, and Casey and her crew created the romance song. - Trapdoor - Episode 7 fight with Neo’s Jabberwalkers. I actually had that chorus stuck in my head all day right before the soundtrack released officially here. “I don’t feel like the Chosen One” didn’t need to go so hard. That guitar is sick. - Quiet - This one is in episode 9, when the gang stumbles across the Genial Gems. Jaune song, after all this time. Appropriate time though. It’s very pretty. I’m not a huge fan of the extended ticking but I get it. It’s a choice. - Guide My Way (Red Like Roses III)- Played in the finale when Ruby chooses herself. A Ruby conversation with her mother but also a couple nods toward Penny. Wow, still really hits me in my finale feels even after all this time. Did not expect that intro though when I first listened. “When will I become all of me?” “I’ll be who you were and I’ll be even more” “I’m what inspired the fairytale” Frick yeah! I’m so proud of my girl! - The Edge - Yeah this credits song still makes me emotional. I think I’ve just so closely connected it with the finale and my feelings with that. But regardless of that, it’s just a great song. The team did not miss. There’s some speculation that it could be a Summer song, but as far as I know there’s been no confirmation.

Goated Soundtrack

I absolutely loved this soundtrack! One of, if not my favorite RWBY albums. I didn't dislike a single song. While I wouldn't listen to Worthy or Quiet on my own, I still liked them. My personal ranking: 1. The Edge - (I love atmospheric music, and this one felt like I was flying in the clouds. Loved how chill and impactful it was. Top 3 favorite RWBY songs.) 2. Chatterbox - (Incredibly surprised by how much I loved it. I wasn't that excited about it when I first heard it in the show, but it did a switcheroo on me. It's in my top 10 RWBY songs.) 3. Inside - (Top 5 RWBY Opening for sure. I liked it all around.) 4. Checkmate - (This was one of the songs I was most anticipated for. It didn't blow my socks off like I originally was hoping for, but it's still an absolute bop.) 5. Guide My Way (Red Like Roses Pt. 3) - (This song had a lot of cool references, and for any average listener, it's a certified banger. If I had to get into the nitty-gritty, melodic wise it wasn't super interesting to me. I was expecting something a little different for succeeding the legendary Red Like Roses Pt. 1 & 2.) 6. Trapdoor - (This one is neck and neck with #5. They go back and forth depending on my mood.) 7. Worthy (Bmblb Pt. 2) - (Very cute and wholesome song. Wouldn't listen to it personally, but still good.) 8. Quiet - (Another slow song that's not bad, just not my listening choice.) Shark, I would recommend listening to the Lo-Fi version of Wings if you haven't already. That was technically the final song on this album. IMO, it's an improvement on the original. Really solid.

Trapdoor is my favorite RWBY song. It did play during the volume, during the fight in chapter 7.

Guide my way is my favourite song from volume 9, probably my fav out of all RWBY soundtracks, I've been playing it on repeat during my workouts it makes me feel so alive

For volume 10 I want a Tyrian song.

As a huge Bumbleby fan myself, my favorite song was definitely Worthy! I also enjoyed the opening intro song "inside".

RWBY x Justice League Part 2 is set post V9 and has some interesting moments between Ruby and Yang in the aftermath of the adventure to the Everafter. It is worth a watch for those alone

Not sure if you checked out the Director Commentary for Volume 9 but Kerry Shawcross mentioned that Blake has known she was bisexual for a long time while it was ironically Yang who was still figuring her sexuality out. The one thing that she figured out was that she's head over heals in love with Blake. So Yang doesn't have a confirmed sexuality at the moment but she maybe you can say she's just Blakesexual LOL. When I heard this it changed the context for me regarding Blake.

I kinda always got the sense that Blake was the first to fall in love but was too cautious and closed off to say anything. She also probably knew that Sun was never interested in her romantically, as well, whereas other people might not have known that, which would cause Yang to not say anything until she knew for sure he wasn't interested, or until he was out of the picture. But I do think that by the end of Volume 3 they're both in love each other. Hell, you could make a good argument for it being V3C8 at the latest, as that's when we see Blake compare Yang directly to her former partner, and Yang being absolutely torn over the possibility of Blake not believing her.

Idk why but this just made me think that you should really watch the Tangled series. Songs are pretty good

The only thing I'd change about Ruby's ascension is that I would have had her Semblance evolve from the experience. For example, since she's already a speedster who can disassemble molecules, Petal burst could evolve to let her phase through objects by dispersing her molecules. She could use it as an attack is coming, and it would be awesome to see. I could imagine an attack going through her body, and the part that got hit is briefly rose petals while the rest of her body is still solid, and the part getting hit quickly returns to normal. Or maybe it could evolve so that she could disassemble weapons by touching them, leaning into the brokenness of how her semblance works. Or it could go the other way, and she's able to harden herself to increase her durability, or use her semblance solely on items to quickly move items. The possibilities are endless

as much as i liked the direction of ruby's character arc this season, going over the lyrics of trapdoor really makes me hope the character arc is not over. I feel like there is still a lot they can do with the pressure on ruby and how tis affecting her and i hope its not suddently "fixed"
