cannot stress enough how this was masterfully put into context. i guess, imagine yourself at this show. sure, Tom doesn't sing the lines like you imagined him to be, but his passion? you can feel it
I agree with this and fully understand what you mean by this comment but in all seriousness Beethoven's career was dramatically different than Tom and Blink's. Beethoven didn't perform publicly I believe till he was 29 or 30, So I'm sure when he "Hit" He had been waiting for that "Passion" to show off his entire life leading up till that. Tom and blink were performing any and every chance they could since they were in High School.. Hundreds and hundreds of shows traveling all over the United States and Worldwide for 20+ year's I think I'll cut Tom some slack for being a little wore out or drained at live shows he's only human. Beethoven wasn't flying around the world packing arenas's sick with the flu, lacking sleep, singing the same songs the same exact way that would get tiring to anyone. 🤘 If you want hear his passion it's definitely on the album version 🙏

That would be fine they didn't write so many emotive where the point is to make the listener feel all kinds of complex emotions. Thats kinda hard to acheive with singing like this.
I absolutely STILL love how Tom sings. How is this possible? No other vocalist would get away with it, but somehow Tom makes it sound cool. Love that man!
I still enjoyed the fuck out of this even though Tom's voice was a bit off, Travis on the drums was killer, Mark killing in on the Bass. Missing Tom's voice more than ever right now :(
If you don't like Tom's voice just go listen to the album version ya know the one they perfected? No band sounds the same at every venue, Personally I love having so many differently sung live versions of this amazing song available. 🤘
I don. t have a favourite Blink memeber but in this video Mark just stood out so much, I dunno why but at 1:05 when Mark just moves his lips to the words makes me happy. at 1:35 just seeing Mark enjoying the song and smiling is awesome. and at 3:29 when Mark joins Tom his voice compliments Tom's amazing voice. And I just find it so cool that he's wearing Travis' Famous stars and straps.
i remember back in the day maybe 2005 blink was falling apart and hey release this song... most of us knew that it was the last breath of the band at the time... i cried like a baby everytime i watched the video on MTV

i love that tom is still doing his own thing on stage. hes showing that hes into it and even if his singing does suck its great to see that they look like their enjoying themselves
I remember everyone going nuts about blink 182 playing reading again while I was at college but I never really got into them till my 20's, man what a regret, I could have gone to this show.

come on guys, he's the singer. why wouldn't you just love him the way he is. i don't know why but i love his vocal, on any song. his vocal is just too special and unique to be hated

a set of pure awesomeness that just completed my Reading Weekend last year... it was the 5th year i'd been and easily the best.. My whole summer had built up to seeing my favourite band closing main stage sunday night... couldn't have asked for moree.. it was incredible!
even when tom's voice is not that good as it used to be, this song sound's better with this tom than with skiba, don't missunderstand me, skiba is doing great... but this song is super weak on him.

Eric Anthony he’s doing better than he should for a song that was never played live and 7 years old at the time of that concert..7 years of never really rehearsing it (maybe they did, but never played live) and 7 whole years of touring, singing, other stresses on vocals..so he was pretty good for that.
They're my favorite band, i've been to one of their concerts, it's fucking awesome, they know how to entertain people. But this doesn't change the fact that Tom sucks live..
He can't help it. He fucked up his back forever for slouching on-stage up until 2001. He had surgery and got addicted to painkillers and that permanently messed up his voice. He takes vocal warmups before studio sessions but not for live shows because he's always out of breathe.
+momentum He got better after the first verse though.. but it's almost like his calling card. I think it has something to do with the name Tom. Thom Yorke sounds horrible when stressed.
Maybe he's drunk or high when he does a bad job, I've seen him do great live on big programs. Then again you better not sound like shit on the tonight show.
his voice was really bad because of his drinking. going on stage hammered isn't the best idea vocally. but still plays instrumentals better than skiba imo
It was pretty touching to see Mark being so patient with Tom when he was having a hard time. He had just got past a pain killer addiction, so he couldn't sing nearly as well as normal. It was even more touching to see Mark helping him sing at the end when Tom most needed it. It's nice to see that over the past two years, he has regained a bit of his voice.
idk about you guys but this performance is legendary to me! idc if he doesnt sound as well but they are in reading playing not now, the last song they released before breaking up and this performances just puts me in a better mood
Travis is playing the drums so perfectly, it's actually pretty hard to keep the double bass pedal going at the same speed for that long, with that much control

You can't expect the man to sound as good as he did ten years ago, especially since he had a completely different style of singing in AVA. Besides, Mark has always been the stronger of the two vocally.
Mark always has the same voice when singing. So has anyone ever heard of being a studio singer? That's what Tom is. there's nothing wrong with it either but if you pay attention to the history of rock music. the lead singers usually sucks live.

i love tom but honestly, he could easily make a better effort with sounding less nasally if he really wanted to, he's done it before in live performances but its not consistent at all
I understand people are passionate about this band (I like them a lot myself), but you are kidding yourself if you think Tom's performance was anything other than dreadful here. Travis and Mark are trying so hard to keep it together, but the guitar and especially the vocals are an absolute mess. You don't need to be a technically accomplished singer (Tom never has been) to put on a good performance, but he is all over the place. He sounds out of breath and, much more importantly, very off-key. It's one thing to be a good "bad singer" in a punk band when you're just yelling and bringing the energy, but he seems lethargic here, and this song has a very melodic vocal line that should really be sung in key. You can't do the moaning and wheezing and whatever else he is doing here, and be that off-key, and expect it to be any good. He's still great. The band is still great. This song is still great. But that performance was anything but great.
