I love playing centaur. You can use your W to get last hits in an area and also use it to harass the enemy often as you have good regen once you’ve gotten the ring. Once you have vanguard you can usually he quite aggressive on them. But as W uses no mana you should use it a bit more often than you did here to harass them as you will generally out regen them.
One tip to centaur: Centaur's W deals magic damage to the enemy and to himself, if u build an item who have magic resistance, u can deny this damage to himself
@@Stforv That's only true in 1k MMR though. You're like 100% wrong :D Just check how 10k players play the hero. Hood is optional at best - against heavy magic dmg teams. Vanguard is core on the other hand...
@@domeplsffs Hood and vanguard are both optional, that depends on type of enemy damage. If enemy deals mostly magic damage you dont need vanguard in any way.. I dont need to watch 10k players, I prefer using brain)
One tip I remember with centaur. If you want to get creep aggro and there isn't an enemy hero in your lane. You can attack target an enemy hero on the map, and the creeps will still aggro you. This helps with centaur with retaliate and pushing the lane if you need to.
You're already better than my friend who's been playing Dota for 4-5 years Dude still stuck in herald Played with him until reached guardian He ranked down Hsi herald again
Strength blink stun heroes like Centaur and Axe are always fun. Also this guy is like the nicest the most chill dude It's kinda refreshing how he talks in the game, like "hey dude nice play it's ok". When a lot of people use chat to flame or trash talk this simple honesty is refreshing
One of the hardest parts of watching these VODs is wanting to give you advice in chat but not being able to XD. Real talk though, it's super refreshing to watch a high level gamer learning DotA. Btw you were complaining about lack of mana on Centaur early on, but he actually functions very well without mana since you have 2 creep clearing abilities that don't cost mana. I would recommend a soul ring if you're getting mana burned by something like an Antimage, but other than that, all you need for mana on Centaur is the occasional clarity after a big team fight where you cast ult + a few stomps
HI Grubby, i followed you since your wc3 jurney, after that i totally forgot about you, now you joining one of my favorite games Dota, its a pleasure to see you play, keep up the good work, i like watching your content it calms me everytime.
Big fan here since 2003!! I’m really enjoying to see you trying this awsome game. Probabily you already know this but it will improve your hero’s spels control in wc3. Keep it up!!
Yeah I wonder how he keeps getting actual teams. I mean I'm a newb, but every second game is a "everyone disconnects" or someone disagrees with the picks and then trolls. Since I'm a noob I try to pick support, and then my "pro carry" just suicide dives, pulls them back and they refocus onto me to kill me. And I have no idea how to get out of that level.
Grubby I've been enjoying your content so far! One tip when you're last hitting, you can right click and immediately cancel it, repeat that process until you are sure that you're gonna land the last hit. It looks funny but it's quite useful, esp when you're just starting out
loving your dota content recently and your micro skills are on a different level compared to much people including me. Just few tips by role you would play. 1. Carry - the late game of the team and primarily the one that should farm a lot. If you are playing this role try to maximize getting gold by farming lanes and jungle. Usually does not join clash if still don't have core items. The more farmed the carry the better chance of winning the game. 2. Mid - another carry and goes to the middle lane. Mainly focus is dominating the middle by outfarming the mid hero of the enemy and controlling the runes. If you are playing mid try to control runes and help the side lanes by ganking. Midlane is also the one that gives the space for the carry to farm more by engaging to clashes and ganks. 3. Offlane - the one that punishes the carry of the opposing team. Mostly a setter for team fights and/or tank. Another role who gives space for the carry. If you are playing offlane try to maximize the skills of the hero to position well in teamfights and set for your team. 4. Support/Roam Support - the support that goes with the offlaner. Roam support mostly roam the map to support other lanes for ganking, helping getting the runes for the mid, stacking jungle creeps. If you are playing a roam support try to stop the farm of the opponent's team carry by harassing him and also try to gank other lanes to dominate the lanes. 5. Hard Support - the main support of the game. Primarily focus on babysitting the carry on the lane and the one that mostly wards the map and stacking up the jungles. Usually don't build much item to focus on supporting the team by buying wards, smoke, dust, gem of true sight, and other utilities for the team. Hopefully above helped in understanding the game better. Have Fun!!!
I'm a earth spirit main with a high winrate , How do you kill with es? Is simple you go in , then 1 spell , then 4 spell (rock) and then 3 spell (silence ) this is how you make the enemy vulnerable to get kill Pro tip : do this every time you se a hero. Earth spirit is a special hero , because most of his spell use a another spell , Most ppl in dota can NOT use right , but here I'm giving you some advice before you use the hero LOL I used to watch your hots videos when you started streaming in twitch
Luna is very strong pos 4 support, it's just her carry potential is even better. She grants bonus attack damage to allies and has decent low cooldown nuke with stun and high base movement speed. You can easily bully out a carry out of the lane. Her weakness is short attack range and low HP so you got to be careful with positioning.
You can auto attack a creep then spam "S" for stop, to continuously interrupt your auto attack. So you can time it for the last hit. Your hero will constantly keep trying to auto attack the creep but it wont as long as you keep spamming the stop command. Super useful if someone uses an attacker takes damage type ability or a CC and you want to stop yourself from hitting them
My advice for these low level games is to give blade mail a chance as it returns 100% damage received as pure damage and most low level players are slow to react to it, meanwhile against more experienced players like that arc warden it forces them to re evaluate cost and benefit for attacking you. When you have BM and they commit to an attack the decision can end up killing them, or put them into a bad position. Blade mail is one of the more situational items as its benefits will depend on your hero ability to sustain damage and your opponents willingness to focus you.
I LOVE CENTAUR SO MUCH one of my best heroes to play I always use him when i play with my friend whos a Bane main their skills together has so much kill potential.
For core items like blink, don't be afraid of selling some of your filler items. Having one empty item slot and a blink dagger is better than an extra ring of protection and 2000 gold in the bank when you are about to have a decisive team fight.
@@Test-mq8ih wtf are you talking about? I am specifically talking about around 25:00 when he is sitting on 2k gold, has all kinds of defensive items but no means to engage efficiently. He could simply sell a ring and quelling blade. He's gonna have to sell one of them anyway to free up an inventory slot. Those 2 points of armor aren't going to lose him the fight but a lack of a blink dagger will. Moreover, he goes into the fight with 2k gold, with predictable outcome, which also loses him a lot of money.
Ship yourself out an early mango(s) / magic stick for mana issue-heroes (before ring of health) - esp if you still have tangoes for health = easy kill potential for an even faster ring of health
Hi Grubby, I really enjoy the series. My advice is as soon as you have the gold you need to get the item asap, dota is all about timing and advantages. Try to improve that it is very important.
@@FollowGrubby this guys correct. the mechanic in dota is that the more gold you have saved, the more you lose if you die. its bad to hoard gold in that sense, but also good late game to hoard gold to save for buy back. its a tough dynamic.
@@FollowGrubby Arc Warden isn't that hard to play actually, it is harder to play against him, because it needs strategic thinking + some advanced knowlege of the game.
Hey Grubby, Long time fan here. I've always enjoyed your content and I've learned a lot so I wanted to give back if I can. I've logged over 5000 hours of Dota and I will give you one of the greatest tips I got that immediately took me to the next level of dota. I would recommend starting your day in practice mode and run through the laning phase for 10 minutes. In those 10 minutes attempt to get 50 last hits or higher. If you manage this then you will be mechanically at a high enough level to play the game optimally, or at least more so then you have been. It would also make for great content and what better way is there to warm up?? Anyway regardless if you attempt my advice I love the new play throughs and wish you well!
@Grubby something to note about double edge, you read that it does take health to cast it but that it doesnt take any mana. centaur and phoenix i believe are the only two heroes with abilities like this that consume only health and not mana for it (io used to with overcharge, but they changed that several patches ago).
dude has so much experience in unit controlling , gonna be fun to watch when he gets to heroes who need alot micromanaging like meepo, chen and illusion heroes INB4 high rank in few months xD also there is a all-hero challenge somewhere on your profile just sayin kinda pointless since its already a-z cheers
Simple absolutely does not mean boring or weak in DOTA. There are too many playstyles and lane matchups for heroes like Centaur to not have their place.
00:47 a lot of abilities(like abaddon's mist coil) used to be able to kill yourself to deny the kill from your enemy, sadly they pretty much made it so no ability can can kill the hero casting it anymore.
Most people when see Arc automaticly think thats a smurf.. That's wrong. Arc in this game done nothing special at all. It's just a very strong hero, and it's actually reasonably easy to play Arc. The problem is - most people on low ranks or just pub players don't know how to play against him..
I doubt you need any people you're probably loaded but would love to play a game of dota with you. I used to watch your Wc3 vids on CDs we got from tournaments before had good internet. Try some zoo heroes I think they will translate nicely to your micro. Natures Prophet for example.
@@FollowGrubby Sir, you are too kind and humble, I love you for it. Please keep up the good work. I feel like playing Dota2 again after all this time :)
@@kotum.y7878 yeah sure it all depends on team comp but normally some people ( pub games low elo) might get mad since most play her as hard carry. His char has a more of a supporting role normally but it all depends sure :)
I always am amused at how triggered chat gets from weird picks, this time Aba 1 Luna 4 Aba is a perfectly viable 1 and Luna a perfectly viable 4 if played correctly and in any case the games are low enough rank that it doesn't even matter what position you are early game peiple can't punish properly anyways
14 games win streak means smurf but it doesnt have to be Dendi. i used to be 4000 mmr as pos 5. A friend lend me one of his accountsT 1000 MMR and i got to 3000 mmr winning 9 outta 10 games....
14 win streak doesn't mean smurf. (It may or may not be) Arc is really easy to play, but most people don't even know how to play vs Arc, that's why Arc Warden almost always wins on low ranks, and doesn't win as much on average and high ranks.
Yo Grubb u wanna be boss on sidelanes(top/bot)? Always buy stick. It boost ur sustain and mana on lane and later in teamfights ;). I main Centaur and almost always buying it (62 % wr after 180 games)
@@Test-mq8ih Still almost always tbh. Stick gives u much more sustain than all of the items in under 500 g. Also gives u +3 to all stats that helps u cs. OFC if u can rush ring of health u can go for it but if u have agresive enemy early stick is better
Brewmaster and Arc Warden are part of the "more complex" heroes that are locked for new player, but I've now unlocked and tried both, the videos will soon be on RU-vid ;)
I have seen in many times and dendi has also mentioned in his coaching videos u should really do creep agro and also try to take less damage when creeps rush u. many times , in laning phase of Ur health bar drops it will lead to disaster. otherwise great content.
There are people seeing smurfs in every game, but by now I have not detected a single one. Trust me a good player just gets a KDA you will recognise. I'd say a 7k+ smurf can end these games 30-0
People are doing cavern crawls. You are bound to strange lineups. As long as luna doesnt fight you for farm no harm really other than less chance to win but its cavern crawl and lots of time feel forced to do so. Unless of course this was before BP and if not then prepare for more stuff like this. Edit: Now i see the date in the corner of the video so pre BP. As I said though prepare for more weird combos during BP. Also thinking luna could have picked thinking abaddon was going 4 and instead of argue just said alright ill 4.
Brewmaster is part of the "more complex" heroes that are locked for new player, but I've now unlocked and tried him, the video will soon be on RU-vid ;)
Probably the most aggravating things for me when playing Dota is the game getting decided on the other half of the map while the laning stage isnt even over. I really don't get why arc player was matched with the others in this game since he's obviously just playing and farming on another level. Seeing his relic level up with 750 tempest double kills says it all. Why is someone with this many games and huge winstreaks getting matched against someone who just started playing?
@@Test-mq8ih Still it makes me mad; I mean this is part of the new player experience; since they're only allowed to play the ranked after 100 hours iirc. Most people I know would stop playing the game because of stuff like this where it literally feels like the game is rigged against you when you can't even tell why you're losing.
Grubby did you manage to make any friends to play dotes with yet? your games would be more fun and meaningful if you play with an organised party I pomise you.
I still remember when centaur first coming to dota 2,he broken as hell, his skill still same like back in dota 1 where his ult his flat strength,he basically a roshan raid boss..
