It's good to hear to different trains of thought...it stands out because we're used to synergised commentary, but I found it interesting to hear different lines.

Athanatov i mean Firebat was right, the opponent was able to draw his entire deck. if he had any sort of late game win condition, it’d have been game over. think that was a case of the opponent losing more than him winning

You basically have a hero power that draws a card, reduces its mana cost, and doesn’t deal damage to yourself. It doesn’t really matter how much it reduces, it’s crazy as is.

That's a ton of dead draws until your quest is active though

@@EebstertheGreat yeah, but its the concentration of its parts that matter. Just like how taking pulp out of juice can increase the level of insulin in your blood easier because it doesn't have the fiber that slows the rate of absorption. They arn't healthy, just healthier than most other candies.

@@nickmagrick7702 No, that's not how it works. Drying fruit does not change its glycemic index at all. Fruit in general has a low glycemic index. Dried fruit is really just fruit, in every conceivable nutritional sense, except that it won't hydrate you like fruit does.

We’re now in the darkest timeline where people don’t even play quests to complete them- just for the perks. Rogue does it, now Warlock does it. Someone had an idea for an OTK quest paladin deck in Wild with Uther of the Ebon Blade where you just need coins. It’s like how so many highlander decks are out there these days.

Agreed. I think I'm in the minority, unfortunately, but I feel the same about Zalae. I prefer solo Firebat.

Maybe he's used to play alex in other decks, where its better to keep in hand vs druid. I think he's right or at least I don't find this as a mistake

@@Oasis.grover This post got way longer than I wanted it to. lol I think it's a mistake not to play Alex in that situation, or at least suboptimal. If you played Jade Druid in Wild for any amount of time when the deck was on top, the kind of inevitably a deck like that creates with infinite dudes is insurmountable as long as you ensure you have more resources. Firebat's play creates tempo now but risks running out of resources later, so while you would probably win (and win faster), you actually lower your win rate overall because you're not playing to the board. The 4/4s will always be an option, but the Alex will lose effectiveness as time goes on and will get the most value on that turn, *before* the 6/6 taunt gets online. (Besides, that deck doesn't do burst, so the surprise factor of losing 15 health isn't relevant.) The Alex is important not for the -15 health, but rather because it's an 8/8 body that threatens to take over the game. If his opponent spends 6 mana to make a 6/6 and heal 12, just like Gallon said, you're pretty happy because your opponent just spent six whole mana and most of a turn doing something that you can answer for 0 mana next turn. If he does it again (because again you have 13 attack on board, and IIRC, he spent both Wraths by this point), you cleanly answer it *again,* and now he has no reasonable out to win the game that you can't easily answer. *Now* you make infinite 4/4s and win because he can't do anything to stop it effectively. In this scenario, infinite 4/4s aren't inevitability, but just a way to close out the game. I dunno, Firebat's line of thought feels like such a "Hearthstone" mindset, if that makes sense, in that it prioritizes tempo over pretty much everything else. Control decks in Hearthstone, while rare, want to just exhaust the opponent's resources to guarantee a win in the late game, which is very "anti-tempo." This is also why I don't understand how concerned people get over fatigue when they still have 15+ cards in deck. It's something to avoid, especially in slow match-ups, but it isn't game-ending as long as you have a plan to kill before fatigue becomes relevant.

@@WMDistraction your post summarizes quite well the difference between HS and some other cgs. I think the reason Firebat was arguing on his side is that hes used to have a lot of burst. Then it would make sense to not pressure with Alex; otherwise, playing Alex like Gallon did is just a "Time Walk" on the opponent, effectively cutting off one turn. This might been easier to see as a Magic player, where we do that all the time, but as you pointed out very correctly, hearthstone is about tempo and pressure, not about optimal answers (as spells). In Firebat's mind, probably it would be a waste of resource, as you are giving utility to cards stuck in the opponents hand, cards that are less impactful and cheaper than Alex. In Gallon's point of view, those cards will become more relevant if you dont pressure enough, ultimately being better than they are right now. Its an interesting discussion.

Because there is also a world where he both makes a powerful play and gets full value of the Alex damage. Firebat is basically saying that he thinks the lackey turn is similarly powerful (if not more powerful) and does not potentially waste value by making alexstrazas battlecry useless if the opponent plays hidden oasis

@@WMDistraction you aware that firebat said that the opponent doesnt need to do the 6 mana play right away and just take over the board and do that 6 mana play once they stabilize, right? Which is exactly what the opponent do. So if gallon said he did that to force the 6/6, actually he failed since the opponent doesnt do that 6 mana play and instead doing what firebat said. Which leads to stabilize the board one turn after and then heal with the 6 mana play. If gallon doesnt get the 0 mana dragonqueen alex and cant do wideboard in the final turn, the opponent probably can stabilize again, and leave him with only medium threat in board for the rest of the game. In that point, he probably misses the old alexstrasza.. its very cute you talks in a very long long paragraph but doesnt understand that after moment in the video, their argument actually ends with gallon agreed with firebat's line that his play is also a good reasonable play. But gallon just want to makes it like a chess game when one do threat, one do the expected answer. Just like that..
