Thought I'd answer a couple of questions about the stream. It was live-streamed from Blizzard's RU-vid channel. Didn't record from Twitch because chat spam tends to be delayed (2-3 secs), whereas RU-vid live-stream chat has no such delay. Chat spam is love!
Vanilla vet... Loved vanilla, hit level 60 about 7 months before TBC launch and I have such fond memories of the game :) BUT I don't know if I wanna ruin the fond memories by trashing them by reliving all the things that was also BAD about vanilla, I miss the old zones don't get me wrong but the questing was a cluster fuck there was a reason outland was 58 and not 60, you run out of quest at 58 and had to grind for 2 fucking levels... I love vanilla but idk whether reliving it is a good or bad idea
U can't stop (M)Anduin-we already know from "Son of the Wolf" that he will be there as an old and wise High King, along with Velen, to stop the Void once and for all!
This is what I wanted. A BLIZZARD quality Classic server. No fucking bullshit emulator with corrupted GM's or living with the thought any time the servers can (and do) get shut down.
Vanilla was a journey,it was about the community.Because everything was so hard, people were helping eachother, heck even had time to post in Thotbot how they finished a quest to help the rest who couldnt.Vanilla was a Dungeon Run with not a tank taking all the mobs together and the rest just spam AoE.Vanilla was joy for a raid leader when he had to sitdown and deside each raid group composition.Vanilla was about pride every time you worked your ass to earn an epic and then people admiring you when they meet you.Vanilla had unique class buffs.Vanilla had Magic Resistances and actual Theorycrafting and no crappy secondary stats. In Vanilla professions had meaning and were an adventure to level up them.Vanilla was about respect for the good players, because without cross realm options and LFR,you had to know who is good and who is not for your taste to be part of your group. In Vanilla the friend list had also meaning. In Vanilla people didnt stay all day inside a garisson-class hall or a city.Vanilla is about walking from eastern kingdoms to Kalimdor with your friends or alone and feel like part of a huge adventure.Vanilla didnt have LFR-Normal-Heroic-Mythic.....raid was what the name says....40 people raid a dungeon and IT WAS AW|ESOME feeling. PvP was a huge party, yes 4 days AV,Yes unbalance....but Shamans had 2h weapons and strength and windfury had 5 procs with no GCD and it was Fun.Paladins had Reckoning and EYE for an EYE.And finaly in PvP you were fighting the Horde players of your OWN server for your Server Pride......Vanilla didnt have Raid Mechanics and it was easy?....well the 4 Horsemen in Naxramass disagree....Nefarian is waiting and C'Thun can have an argument about that.DOnt forget in Vanilla we all had 2000-300 life and the bosses hit like a track.ALso we didnt have so many skills and talents like today....but it was not about running like crazy and avoid AoE like today,it was about 40 people to not make a single mistake so we wont wipe.It was about posiotioning and strategy....it was a differend way of raiding...it was a diffferend game......Yes Vanilla had many stupid things and many for no reason sadistic and hard things.....but thats what we learned to play and thats what we love and miss. And comparing to the other games back then...Vanilla was a masterpiece....So, WELCOME BACK OLD SCHOOL WOW and i hope those who didnt play it back then,to try and enjoy it for what game it was and wont play it comparing it to todays WoW.
Read the whole text wall and understund exactly what i said. Also use valid arguments instead of insults. We were inexperienced the first 6-8 months after that we all new the game. What i wrote are facts. I even said that Vanilla had stupid things to a sadistic lvl.I didnt try to say that new wow is CRAP. I wrote what we liked back then.
+Giannis Tzouinat Vanilla was about the journey yes, but you already made that journey. That's the thing, going on the exact same adventure twice is never as rewarding the second time round. Thottbot, well we have a thing called WoWhead nowadays which is pretty much identical. People help others on there with comments, good 'ol thottbot coords and whatnot. Vanilla had unique class buffs, like glorious 5minute paladin blessings that half wore off by the time the palas were done buffing the raid. Raids also had fun gameplay elements like dedicated dispellers smacking their Decursive macro to cleanse the entire raid and dps standing still for hours perfecting their zero movement rotation (still possible at your local training dummy). I do agree that buffs have been streamlined too much in modern day WoW, but vanilla isn't really better either. And it seems by actual theorycrafting you mean actual lack of theorycrafting. Because right now we have a lot more and a lot more accurate theorycrafting going on for pretty much any class. Sure we had no programs to do simulations for us back then, or class discords. But you can bet your ass that this time around the boys from over at SimulationCraft will be ruining your Vanilla experience. The online community as a whole has progressed since then making it virtually impossible for authentic Vanilla to be a thing anymore. Vanilla was great because of the newness of it all. Private servers were great for some people because it attracted a certain demographic of people. When Blizzard officially launches their Classic servers no doubt a lot more people will be trying it, for various reasons, and you will end up with the worst of both worlds. I don't think you will get that 2004 community feel back at all. And your closing arguments of vanilla being a masterpiece compared to other games at the time, hardly seems relevant for today. "but thats what we learned to play and thats what we love and miss." - that's called nostalgia, and it wears off quick when it doesn't quite feel the same.
That's basically summed up with "You think you do, but you don't." Which is, still, quite the retarded statement considering how many people played on nostalrius, elysium or whatever the fuck its called now.
By that logic, people should be flooding a private legion server instead of nost. Since it's not only "FREEEEE", the main reason they supposedly play on these servers, but also the oh so superior 2017 version of the game. People keep bringing up that thousands of players played on nostalrius since it's literal proof that people want to play classic world of warcraft. I don't understand why that's so tough to wrap your head around, but I am very sorry that this is such a big deal for you! :(
Thats all what we wanted all the time... More alliance and HORDE battle, legacy server for vanilla players, kultiras, zandalari, badass playable races and more medieval theme and less shitty demons.
Legion and this new expansion have just been a lot of "look guys, we did what you asked! are you happy now?" Which is good, imo, because after this expansion (which will be amazing) we'll get new ground up story rather than the end of a storyline that got foreshadowed years ago.
"look guys, we did what you asked! are you happy now?" "no". People crying for lack of content after some weeks after new patches being released, crying out for new expac 1 year after launch. Will be same for vanilla servers.
How would it be done? old graphics or new? old animations or new? from scratch new maps etc or cut past from a file in the desk? Would you have to pay for two accounts? can your characters you have today switch back and forth?
Lol majority won’t play Legacy, it’s just probably going to be full of no life elitists, it’s probably just going to be 1 server medium population best case scenario
Lmao you guys have no clue what you are talking about... People have been playing vanilla for years, much longer than 3 months. You guys were wrong to say vanilla servers wouldnt be released by blizzard, and you'll see how unbelievably popular they will be. Literally every top streamer in WoW will be vanilla! And I predict a huge spike in players. Many of the returning players will actually quit vanilla and start retail because they will come to the realisation that they themselves have become casualfags, which is good for retail. I am actually so happy to see all these salty retailfags that have been hating on vanilla for years finally being shunned by blizzard! Lmao best time.
Man, I barely played more than 10 hours of WoW and the only time I played was 9 years ago, but I love seeing people get hyped by things like this. Really happy for everyone who got what they wanted!
I called Kul Tiras, but not Zandalar. Then there was the customization options. Niiiiice. I'm hype for the new expansion. But also hype for vanilla servers. I have no idea what I wanna play more though!
I'm intrested in the opinion regarding my comment: Vanilla and new WoW are the two extremes. Why then nobody mentions the middle way? What I consider the middle way (and the best as well) is from TBC patch 2.0 (launch) to WotLK patch 3.1(Ulduar). Anyone who has play through this era agrees/disagrees with me?
Спасибо, ждем с нетерпением.Возобнавлю подписку сразу. Без разговоров. Ток еще бы добавили diminishing ( не очень суровый) да и от resilience я бы не отказался. :))
I love wow where it is now, I think Legion is pretty damn amazing. I haven't had this much fun on the game since Wrath. That being said I love Vanilla wow too. Yeah it took forever to do things, but thats part of what made it fun for me. Vanilla is not something I am going to main, but it is something that I will play on my off-time from my main. I am looking forward to it
Can not wait to resurrect my Vanilla character whom committed suicide when TBC was released, by jumping into the hot pools of black rock depths! HE WILL BE BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!
