On the subsequent episode of Blockbusters, with the same contestants seated, there was a RU-vid comment by someone who claimed to have known Thomas Spence and had gone to school with him. Sadly, this person said that Thomas had died a number of years ago, and the commenter said they had attended his funeral. What a beautiful and gentle young man. Too bad he didn't lead a long and happy life. At least I hope he enjoyed his trip to Greece and the Aegean that he subsequently won on this show. I would love to have such a beautiful young lad in my life. Alas!
The 2019 reboot of this show with Dara O'Briain as host for some extraordinary reason not on a mainstream channel, not even on Challenge TV, but pay channel Comedy Central. My prediction this new reboot will go down the toilet because of this.
Yes, and for some extraordinary reason not on a mainstream channel, not even on Challenge TV, but pay channel Comedy Central. My prediction this new reboot will go down the toilet because of this.
Fun fact: we used to have a show called "Blockbusters" in America, it was hosted by Bill Cullen, but sadly it only lasted 2 years, and in 1982 NBC took the show off the air. However, the show was rebooted in 1987 but I forgot who the host was. However, that version also didn't last long. The American version was a little different compared to this version. In this version, they played for points. In the American version, it was only to connect. Also the gold rush board kinda reminded me of the one that the American version used when Cullen hosted it.
Also there was one difference between this and the American version. Yes both versions had white tiles, but this version had light blue tiles. In the American version, the light blue tiles were red, also in the American version, there were 2 gold rush rounds. The first is the regular one for $2,500, and the other was the super one which was played if either the solo player or the team won 2 games. The first (and second if the team won) game would get someone $2,500, and the other (if either solo or team won 2 games) gave $5,000. Also, if someone, or the team reached $60,000 (which is the max in the Cullen version), then they would be retired.
Greg Louganis of course causing huge controversy because he bled into the pool after hitting his head during dive and it was cut causing him to bleed when he when HIV positive. Jonathan's luck ran out. They were very good.
