BLOCKING OUT THE NOSEY NEIGHBOURS! - This Week At D&J Projects  

My old man used to say "good fences make good neighbours " very true ....good job lads

The algorithm sent me here, and I’m so glad it did. Just watched this hour long extravaganza for my first view, and it was good! I now have your whole back catalogue to work through, so thanks, hope you’re having a well earned rest and see you in the New Year!

I have to say that if that had been my property, I would want the panels the other way round, so that the smooth side is facing out, which would make it difficult for anyone to climb into the garden. plus the brackets could be used for trellis attachments, but that’s just me. Nice fencing though.

By putting the rails on the outside all along the alleyway it makes it easier for burglars to climb over. Also by having it face side to the property on all sides, including correctly where the neighbour's border fence is, it seems they have been fenced off by everyone else!

The neighbour on the right can take their own fence down and they've gained a few inches of land!

It was great to see Taff correctly rolling up the hydraulic hoses on the JCB Beaver pack. I hired out the packs so many times and only a few were brought back with the hoses rolled up properly. It makes such a difference when you need to use the tools if they are put away properly - well done Taff

The fence between me and my neighbours only comes up to our knees 😂 so awkward. We rent so can’t change it

You know you can trust guys like this as they are prepared to film all the good professional work they do.

So 2 things, I thought 1) the fence was supposed to be the the horizontal sides INSIDE..so you can lift them from your garden and so someone can't "nick" them or lift them from outside your property and 2) You couldnt have fencing higher than 6foot if it was solid? ie you could put trellis on the top to make it 7-8ft..but it couldn't be solid panels over 6foot? Its a great looking fence tho :)

Very good. My sons both have similar houses. Their houses however have a right of way for neighbours in the deeds immediately across the TOP (not bottom) of the back garden (which in practice are not used but you have to keep the top entry gates there). I think in the video originally there would have been a right of way in the same way but instead people have chosen to make the garden smaller at the bottom and run the right of way round that way but it would be interesting to check the deeds. My second point is it is such a waste of land to have the two fences and pity the neighbour would not consent to take off their fence and putting this taller one where it is! Final point he mentioned tenants at the end - if it really is tenants doing this work I hope they had the landlord's consent having checked the deeds as to rights of way etc. Final general point to those living there throw out or clean almost every single thing in that messy garden and get some plants in there!

If the rails of the panels are facing outwards, can't someone just lift them out to gain access to the garden or do they get secured?

Should paint the panels and posts the same colour to hide the post extenders, I recommend anthracite grey. They look terrible as is.

Have neighbours like that but we arent allowed to put higher fencing up so I fastened a line by the ground and one 160cm up and a fabric between those in dark green so it looks like a hedge.

Didn't realise you guys were next to the tram tracks, got the tram into Nottingham today and seen the D&J yard 👍🏻

Rules are that you cannot have fencing over 2 metres (without special planning permission. This is irrelevant of your neighbours agreeing. Plus this includes any trellis attached and the gravel boards.

God iv just had the same done because of a neighbor, it's dreadful when you have to deal a bad neighbor, but my garden looks so much better , and the new fence has done the trick

Nice job. On the post extenders, too bad you did not do an inside cutout on the bottoms so that you would get a nicer taper fit. I still love your fences that you put up.

Have you consider a farm jack and chain to jack the old posts out. It works well for me. I’m a small woman and the Fran jack does the trick. Love your videos, thank you for sharing 🙂

on the Wednesday job: sometimes everybody else knows it better then the customer. When you are willing to pay for a few boards, pay for a few more and have it really neat. are you going to jack up the container? it will be in the water for the rest of it's life, getting a rotten bottom.

Bit late now but what you wanted to do with that screeding board is screw a foot (or 16") long bit of 1x1 on top, at right angles to the direction and at both sides. Then the guys can use it as a handle and use both hands to screed the concrete... less burn on the arms...
