I'm so happy for Isaako seeing him playing good footy. We all knew he had talent, evident by being rookie of the year, but yeah unfortunately has obviously dealt with off field stuff which was sad and he himself said had affected his footy alot. Maybe just couldn't find the right fit at a club or something too but he looks like he's happy again and in a great environment and just great perseverance to never give up and get back to his best. Such a humble, nice guy as well in general. I've always liked him dince that debut season and yeah good reward for him playing for NZ again. One of the great stories this year i agree 🙂
Pack got smashed to pieces. End of story. NZ finally stopped trying to score off every play and played like they have the best pack in the game, and Aussies were shellshocked. I thought there were warning signs in the first half the week before
Guys Great Show, as a Kiwi I'm super proud of the boys effort but it's just one game and I don't want to get too far ahead and say It's Our Time. We have now built a good foundation but consistency wins matches. The Kangaroos will be hurting and the next time we meet...it could be complete turnaround, I just hope we can turn up again and again...and truly show It Really Is Our Time.
As a kiwi i think its a bit premature to say we are on the verge of a golden period. I hope you guys are right its just we've heard that before and its never really eventuated, the Aussies always come back. Having said that, this kiwis team over the last few years have always threatened to put one of these performances on as the talent and depth at the kiwis disposal is the best its ever been. Great coach in Madge. Love our front rowers, everyone talks about stat monsters like AFB and Haas but I'd be willing to bet my left nut that Penrith wouldn't swap their two big boppers for anyone
This is why he Haas isn’t number 1. Nobody will say it. The job of the middle forwards in my opinion isn’t to play the most minutes or accrue the best stats. It’s to dominate your opposite. And Haas simply does not dominate JFH or Leota. There’s more to the game than stats. And I say this as someone who knows and sees that Payne Haas is a top tier front rower - so not a hater.
@@scottyg1834 I don’t know about insulting as at the elite level in anything the margins are so fine. The media is a huge player though, and the fact the kiwi boys don’t play origin probably counts against them. They also get the frustrating ‘playing at Penrith certainly helps’ type of argument that a few Panthers do - yet people overlook that the players make the team a good team. They’re the ones on the field! Storm the declining example this year, their system is great but the blokes taking the field just aren’t quite the top tier players the club had in yesteryear. Your system may continually keep you top 4/top 8 but elite players are the root cause of 3 prems in a row.
Yeap Aaoron Woods said on triple M, Haas might have the better tackle efficiency but Fisher Harris when he tackles you it hurts and you can feel it in your bones and he said he’s much rather be tackled by Haas than JFH
Great podcast boys! I think this game set the platform for the future of the Kiwis. I hope Madge can coach both NSW and Kiwis because the boys absolutely love him and he loves NZ aswell. His style of coaching is what we’ve adapted to and although we don’t always get the flowers like the World Cup, we’re still a strong side that just needed a little bit more and I think fish and leota were that leadership that was needed. As for the crowd, NZ barely knew about the entire tournament. I’d ask my friends etc if they were going and had no idea what I was talking about. There’s been no advertising other than on the NZRL social media and NRL on the odd occasion. It was advertised and marketed very poorly and although I understand pricing for international tests, the prices were expensive. $20 to sit on the grass (small area) otherwise $70+pp not mentioning the pricing of food and drinks considering FMG uses catering not food trucks on the main stand. Hamilton has league competitions and although predominantly a union city, it’s still full of league fans. Warriors v Tigers sold out the stadium in the back end of the season. The game needs to be advertised long in advance and not thrown together. Eden park barely had Kiwi fans also considering we had 3 teams representing the country.
@@richardkanara3212 if that’s someone’s reason for not going then they aren’t fans of league because that’s a pathetic excuse. Happens in every sport but you still go and support your country. There was very little to no advertising so many people I knew had no clue it was even on and Sky Sport barely advertised it on their ads aswell.
Thank you all very, very much for backing up the talk that many people talk but don't not necessarily back up about the importance of the international game and giving such a huge match the coverage it deserves. A special moment in league history, especially for us NZ fans.
Would have been good if the other 2 International games got more than 3 minutes coverage each. Those players doing their countries proud deserved better!
Kempy regarding Murray at 13 you guys agreed unanimously that he should start on the edge for the opening onslaught. Then moved into 13 later in the game which makes all the sense with him fresher through the middle.
I was the first to give "the side eye" when I saw Foran as 9....shame on me🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️one of their best in defence and running that BIG FORWARD PACK around....Leesshhggoooo.
Internationals could’ve been even better if we start playing full strength teams , Samoa Tonga kiwis could all have stronger teams, the nrl need to prioritise this over origin because the international games are the pinnacle of the game
1:01:20 as a kiwi, moving forward i do not want madge as coach because of the conflict of interest between NSW and NZ he could poach kiwi's to pledge allegiance to play origin automatically ruling them out of kiwi eligibility
mate the poaching is rubbish it comes down to the individual players and what they decide, they all have there reasons and if they choose origin over kiwis then thats their decision, but it is international boards fault for allowing origin 2 become bigger then international footy
Hamilton is not a big populated city, and for most league supporters in nz to travel there u should search how much Petrol/Gas prices are here can definitely have a part in why not many travelling fans
Hey fellas, Tohu Harris retired from International footy in 1-2 years ago so that’s why he didn’t play in last years World Cup and this years Pacific Championship. And I think SJ might have retired from international footy not sure though.
Thought Teddy was Aussies best back by a long way….his defence is a lot better than Walsh, KP more complete than Walsh but KP has to stay healthy. Just my opinion but as a Kiwi I still fear Teddy more than the other 2. He went pretty good last week didn’t he? I look at the 2 forward packs and the Kiwis look the superior athletes by a whisker.
basically it was like the results and intensity, and potential the kiwis of old but couldnt put it together , disappointment is usually what we always say about the kiwis, but in this game all that definitely needs 2b said about the roo's, also the way Kiwi capt led the haka on his whenua (land,) has a lot more power & ignited his own fire and passion on a level that he might as well been a ANZAC soldier
NZ in my lifetime has been the only Nation to hold Kangaroo's to nil on 2 occassions 2005 tri-nations deciding final kiwis 24-0 and this pacific championship final 30-0. us great as a coaching record big Mal has he also has Australia's worst ever defeats 2019 against Tonga, and now kangaroos biggest loss ever
You can say that bout Queensland team with the 4.. But mal has done it with nsw and qld in aussie team.. so is different. I agree bout him coaching qld though.. Like bellamy.. hasnt won big one since the players left... Bellamy NEEDS to win gf without them to be considered a real great.
I think Webcke and Petro are the only front row pair i would have above Leota and Harris and thats honestly only due to Origin and length of time as a top tier front row combination. If Leota and Harris were to win a world cup or Go on another 3-4 years as the powerhouse they are and win even just 1 more title in that time id have no argument against them being the greatest Front row duo of all time.
Tapine was the player of the tournament stood up all competition CNK was definitely close 2nd. Cam Murray should have played he was good all tournament as well...
Aust played a fullback ranked at best 3rd or fourth Mals stupid loyalty rule cost Aust is Dillon Edwards the best winger? Time to pick on form in positions not an arrogant assumption of superiority so pick by favourites
Picking DCE ahead of last year's Dally M 7 is another mistake and Munster had a quiet year too but nnah let's play Nico at lock. Picking undersized Cotter as a forward rotation against the massive pack in NZ is backwards step too.
@@seancole7619so by your logic Mam should be 6 cos he was dally m lol and did you forget DCE was the origin winning halfback? And are you talking about Hynes? Did you not see his defence? He is not a big game player yet
Lets not forget that kangaroo's team has the advantage of origin every year. Where as the kiwis dont have that advantage at all. Apart from last year world cup the kiwis literally only played once nearly every 3 years.
1. walsh 2. cobbo 3. HTF 4. trell mitt 5. val bags holmes 6. munny/mam 7. chin 8. tino 9. ben hunt 10. haas 11. d fifi 12. liam martin 13. cam muzza 14. grant 15. lindsay 16. carrigan 17. cotter has to be this team moving forward
imagine if auztralia, nz could pick only the idigenous, and European ( decents of colonial migrants) players of NZ/Australia and players of Pacific islands were to play 1st for their nation heritage/decent to even the international game, and i personally think that State of O eligibility should be only for those that play for Australia,
You would think that Australian backline looks very different the next time they play. Cleary, Latrell, Tommy, Walsh, if fit you would think are all there. Is Munster on the verge of losing his Kangaroo jersey? With Maam and Dearden hitting form you would think he'd need a big Origin series to hold onto it. Edwards isn't a winger and I don't even think he's a rep quality FB. Ponga, Walsh, Turbo, and even Drinkwater offer more. I'd have Gutho ahead too. Teddy's time as a rep player is done. Walsh and Ponga are FAR too dynamic to ignore anymore. Apart from Murray, edge forward is such a specialist position you need actual edge forwards playing in their position. Kiwi edges are too good to just be plugging holes. As a Parra fan I was proud of Brown. He wasn't good enough in the last test and stood up when it mattered. He's still only 23 and will play his 100th game in rd 1 next year so I'm expecting his career to take off next year. Hopefully, he has a quiet off-season break....
Guru on JFH: “He’s more dominant than any of them.’ Kempy: “JFH hasn’t lost a battle yet.” How are we comfy saying JFH may be the best kiwi front row ever but nobody will say something as simple as he’s dominated Haas yet again and is the best front rower right now? I was big on this after the gf but it’s cemented again. 26-0 in the gf when JFH and Leota were on. Now another nil. Haas may well be the game’s fittest forward and therefore accrues crazy stats. But you boys say yourselves stats aren’t everything. And middles aren’t defined by getting numbers. They’re defined by getting over their opposites. That’s the definition of everyone’s favourite cliche: ‘Laying the platform.’ I’m not a Haas hater at all as he’s very impressive in so many ways, but why can nobody say out loud that there’s even a possibility that Payne Haas isn’t currently the game’s number one front rower?
Because hd didn't dominate Haas in the Grand Final. Haas played outstanding. He definitely won the battle on the weekend though. Also because its a team sport. What you reckon Haas is doing if he played in the front row for Penrith? He'd be winning premierships like Fish is.
@@BlokeInABar Haas did play outstanding. Absolutely. You can play well and still be #2 though. Or #3 in the case of that game given GF Leota is a different type of animal. You lads know how important the middle is when it comes to setting up a win, and 26-0 when in direct competition is one indicator of one team fundamentally getting over the other, isn’t it? In Rugby League the 1st place you look when a team does that is typically how its middle unit performs, no? Also, yes, a team sport - of course. But then you could quickly argue Haas does so well because the Broncos have other guns and are a fantastic team, couldn’t you? It can’t be all individual accolades when it’s Haas, but a result of a team/system unit when it’s JFH - surely that’s not really a fair take?
Aaron Woods said on triple M that Haas may have the better tackle efficiency but he said he’d much rather be tackled by Haas than Fisher Harris cos when Harris tackles him it hurts and he could feel it in his bones
api is levels above harry grant, showed on the wknd. cant use team success as n excuse, have a go at the sides they both play in. api is the best hooker in the game
If he was levels above he wouldn’t have won the wooden spoon, and Tigers did worse this year than last year. Panthers won premiership when Api left aswell
@@YallNotWhite_YourPINKfunny thing is atleast Kangaroos win the world cups and All Blacks seem to some how choke when it comes to them especially when they dominate the years inbetween, from a kiwi too
