People are comparing to Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me so I'm definitely intrigued. Fun fact: David Lynch was supposed to make this in the 80s and that turned into Twin Peaks. Laura Palmer is inspired by Marilyn Monroe.

People/critics have reviewed this film with statements ranging from garbage to a towering achievement. I think it is a masterpiece. Ana de Armas better win best actress at the Oscars. Hands down EVERYONE is saying that. From nuclear war references in meeting with JFK, to realizing her authentic self as Norma Jean, the film enters the mind and body of a sacro-sanct celebrity suffering. After the film credits it mentions a website people can turn to to talk about any struggles they are having. Hollywood does have sympathy.

This movie was terrible. It completely objectified and hyper sexualised Marilyn Monroe. There's no mention of how she was actually a very smart, witty woman who had plenty of female friends including Judy Garland and Ella Fitzgerald. It wasn't art. It was just overblown torture porn and fetishizing Marilyn just like the media has always done. The director said he had never seen any Marilyn Monroe movies and that clearly shows. It didn't explore the fact that Marilyn had endometriosis and fertility issues, didn't explore how she fought for equal pay and wasn't just a ditsy blonde. Terrible movie. Misogynistic and rape porn. Shouldn't have even been made. It's not even real life accounts it's based on an equally trashy fake book of Marilyn. Let the woman rest in peace jeez.

I love Jesse James too. Dominik is a visionary and I’m glad that he got his intention to the screen and Netflix didn’t water it down to make it more palatable for a general audience. Highly anticipating this one.
