In the UK this was number one either 1979 or 1980 I can't really remember but I was very young when it hit number 1. I'm now middle age and it's still a fantastic song in 2024. What a shame Debbie never had children or married. She would have been a great catch and mum. A true trailblazer for the world of Pop and an icon for the USA that's now long gone.
everybody loves Blondie ❤ i was in the Roundhouse 1979 i climbed the roof and was in the roundhouse tunnels and watched an Elvis Costello and a stranglers concert. great gig by the way Jess
7 year old me was all about this song on the AM radio, when it came out. I could sing the entire song in her exact pitch and tone. Although because I was just a 7 year old boy, it probably counted as belcanto. My skateboard, my slingshot, and music on the AM radio were my world
You absolutely cannot hear any of the guitars in this song but it's still one of my favorite disco songs ever and Im a confirmed metalhead 53 years old. Id love to hear a guitar version of this.
My younger brother tore out the poster of DH that came with the Parallel Lines album that I bought new on its first release and drawing pinned it to his bedroom wall. I took it down and drawing pinned his left ear lobe to a wine bottle cork. I got twatted by my older brother and grounded for several weeks. Nobody could see why I was so upset. Today I have no contact with any them.
