Extended 8min version of Rapture on a hot summers day at Glastonbury 1999 (complete with stage invader) Clem shines as usual too. For all the latest Blondie news, visit Mark Bruce's awesome Blondie archive www.thebestofblondie.com
@@diversk Uhh yeah, it was Rappers Delight. Rapture isn't a rap song. It's rock with rap in it. Either way, it's still such a cool song!!! And Debbie Harry sounds so great here!!!!!!!
I was only seven when this first came out. I remember it was being played on the radio a lot and at our local kids disco during school holidays 😂 We had never heard anything like it before. This catchy high pitched song and then she would start 'talking' along to the music. It was genius.
Awesome 'Raw' video. Pity about the audio quality but i'm sure someone will fix it up. Still, this raw video can never be replaced. Thank you for sharing this. ;)
@bagobuilder check any live videos on tv or the net. the instruments are always mixed out of balance and so if the vocals are too loud, they always sound that human touch of an eight of a note off and that's enough to make it "a mess". but you would not have noticed when being there in front of the stage. be it blondie now, 25 years ago or anyone else in any time. with this in mind, you'd realize this performance here IS top notch. (and let's not even start on auto pitch vocal effects...)
After decades Chris Stein has not learnt to play guitar yet. But in spite of that the band is terrific, great new arrangements almost bring that superclassic into hard rock territory. Debbie's Voice has grown up sooo deep.
This song embodies rock, and rap. Yes, rap. One early white female who did rap in the 80's. I seriously think this song, would be hard for some rap singers, who can't carry a tune- but only could do the rap part of the song.
i love the way the ulra rich bass licks bleed thru on this song, just so damn awesome:) what happened to the clasic guitar solo............. shit one more band that cant play their solos
She was nearly sixty years old for God's sake. And for that age I don't think she looks too shabby at all. Don't forget it was probably late in the set; she would have been perspiring and the weather at outdoor festivals (especially Glastonbury) can be brutal and fuck with women's hair etc mercilessly. Be kinder to us ladies!
