Enjoy the movie people.. They had to speak like that for easy understanding by the very large target audience as Nigerians are not the only ones watching the movie..
I've been and worked in "Port Harcourt" and it opened my eyes to this part of the world. I guess i was lucky to of had been briefed before arriving in Lagos and travelling to Port Harcourt and to of been given a "MOPO" to protect me. I remember going to a protected villa which had six armed guards. My room had a steel mesh in the roof and lockable 1/4" steel plates on the doors and windows. If all the energy could be joined together in Nigeria however it has not been to date. Anyway it is NOT a place to take a holiday!
Thank you for your insights. It's a very bad situation that has unfortunately gotten more ugly since then. But here, in your opinion, is there anything that we can do to change the course of the tide? That's of great interest to me. I will be president some day.
I AM HONESTLY SHOCKED TO WATCH MY AFRICANS BROTHERS STRUGGLING ABOUT THE LOCATION AND ACTORS IN THE MOVIE RATHER THAN LEARN A LESSON ABOUT ALL THESE UNNECESSARY SUFFERING WE ARE GOING THROUGH IN AFRICA FOR LONG LONG TIME.WHEN ARE WE GOING TO OPEN OUR EYES LEARN TO LOOK WHETHEN AND BETTER FOR GOOD.WHEN ARE WE GOING TO LEARN THAT NOBODY THAN WE OURSELVES CAN SAVE US FROM ALL THESE PUNISHMENT AND ABUSES FROM THE WEST?REALLY SAD, PRETTY SAD.
Thanks a lot for this comment bro. This is the best movie shot in Nigeria that I have ever watched. It amazes how some of our people will leave the very important thing and go for the trivial. When I stumbled upon this movie many years, back, it shone like a very bright light in my heart bringing up intense heat and fire.
My opinion, at this current situation with the oil theft and Peter obi and political campaign around, this movie needs an urgent Remake with an updated and accurate accent and a happy ending 😀
Though fictional and a bit of exaggeration but this hits home even if it was acted years ago. Rivers Hotel is Presidential Hotel, and yes the mallams trading the dollars around there shows some attention to detail. Oil theft is ongoing and this movie hit at some truths that are once again coming to light.
Liked the film. ~ Movies are never exact. It happens with Latinos too. When somebody speaks Spanish in a movie, is usually a Mexican, Puerto Rican or Cuban regardless if the movie is film in Argentina, Venezuela...even Brazil!! And they speak Portuguese!! The actors only speak one kind of Spanish, and that is the based on where they learned it. So, to all of the Nigerian people, please do not be offended. Is the intention/thought that counts.
It's an Americanized version no doubt, but I think if we stop focusing on the unnecessary details, we could see the film for what it reall is. An earnest attempt at shedding light to the unfairness and blatant evil of what is right now happening in Nigeria amongst many African countries.
+Eyong Tambe Not 'Americanized". British. Can't you tell the difference between an American accent and a British accent? I do agree with you that this is "An earnest attempt at shedding light to the unfairness and blatant evil of what is right now happening in Nigeria amongst many African countries"
Well, just because the actors have british accents doesn't make it a British film. Which it is, but that doesn't mean that's always the case. I mistook it for the American series by the same name when I googled it for more details. haha
What I hate most about films like this is how wrong they get the details... these accents are breaking my heart and making my stomach turn. If they wanted to paint a picture of the struggle why not get actors from the area (there are talents everywhere) or get talents that can do the accents. When British actors get told to play American roles the director doesn't settle for anything less than an the American accent he wants. Why is this then acceptable? I see what they tried to achieve and the story they are trying to tell... but a little attention to detail would have made a big difference. If you have the resources to tell such a story, do it justice
They did a perfect job. There are a lot of Nigerians in that movie. Go and watch the full movie and stop playing victim card. The storyline and everyone used for the movie fit perfectly for the roles intended.
Certainly everyone has a say. Unfortunately, most comments I read here implies that most persons fail to see the realities of this great movie. Infact, its not even everyone who resides in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria will understand these because not everyone was exposed to these activities of these men back then. We were only lucky that's all..cos a lot happened. I think this movie is epic and very informative. Fast forward to the situation at present, then you will appreciate the message from this movie. 👍👍👍
hey guys I really do like the this film but what I don't understand is why go this far in making such a nice movie if the ending will not be made to end understandably
The one thing that took me by surprise was seeing several dead bodies on the roads. Apparently if you took the time to check you would be responsible for all payments and family to...That is a fact
We need to be grateful. that sombody is putting some money into Nigeria. they could have made this film anywhere in Africa and nobody would have known the difference but they decided to put money into the Nigerian community so be grateful
Thes actors are not Nigerians, Nigeria is not as worse as the airport portrays, Nigerians do not beg the way it portrays, Nigeria is more civilised than this, Black November is a proper movie than this. Though, good story line, but the locations and crew are too far from been Nigeria \
I am only 20 minutes into this movie and I think there's a bit of over-exaggeration and inconsistencies in the movie. It will be correct to say I represent both sides (Niger Delta and Multinational) but first, the scene where the lady pushes the 2 men from the Okada and hikes, is a No-No. Also, Police escorts no matter how rough they drive through (and this happens daily) do not drive into street hawkers (except in emergency crime situations). Finally, no expatriate (family member will travel without a proper travel itinerary communication to the Company. They in turn provide such with proper security and transportation (same as was provided for the Alison).
its is very appalling that nollywood actors were unused to shoot this film which has a huge significance on a global scale. However, the film was very informative and also true. Could not have been depicted in a different way.
They did a perfect job. There are a lot of Nigerians in that movie. Go and watch the full movie and stop playing victim card. The storyline and everyone used for the movie fit perfectly for the roles intended.
The Nigerianess of the actors/actresses doesn't bother me. What does is the idea of non Nigerians telling Nigeria's story, as if Nigerians as a people cannot tell their own story smh
mrAgbese who is stopping us from telling our own stories? instead we waste precious resources on village films about withcraft and slap stick comedies and complain when outsiders want to make films about more important serious issues!!!
Fela Spoke and look what happened to him ! Until the puppets are gone nothing Good will happen. Solar would solve many problems. And 50 + years still no processing facilities. What happen to the One to be built anyway ?
This is total lie, this movie was not cast in Nigeria .am not a Nigerian but l know Nigerian's accents in speaking broken English, this movie was not firms in Nigeria so please stop given bad image to our super Africa country OK. Am from Sierra Leone, currently in Cairo Egypt.
I remembered when this aired in on the TV in the uk and Mr Biafara get a life quickly. That kind of talk is not what is in anyone's best interest . not even the people of the Niger Delta. the thumb needs the rest of the hand you silly man who wants to drag us back into war.
This is rubbish if they want to shoot movie about nigeria why not feature Nigerians than using south Africans as Nigerians and speaking poor pigin language
its a bad story, its bad filming and acting, and i have great doupts if any of this has been made in or near nigeria.the triggerfingers and torture, combined with a bit christianity makes this a grand turkey of a movie. if your are an emersive environmentalist or a local nigerian fishermen, whos river have become petroleumstreams then watch, otherwise its such a bad movie thinks the still and forever grumpy old man
This is not a story of the Niger delta... why deceiving people and painting Nigeria in a bad way. If you want to tell about the struggle of the emancipation go get your story right. Black November is far better than this rubbish
