Blood Hunter 5e - Ultimate Class Guide for Dungeons and Dragons 

For Order of the Lycan, I would actually recommend leaning on DEX since you can use DEX for the claw attacks. It also pairs well with Crossbow Expert, such that you have the flexibility of being a ranged damage dealer or melee off-tank, depending on the situation.

I'd also recommend the playable Goblin race. The bonuses are great and the concept of blood hunter as a goblin (monster race) make for great RP.

I think the Tough feat is the unbeatable feat for blood hunters for obvious reasons

For damage and mobility I made (waiting to be played) protector assimar with tasha’s optional stats. I now have a Viking werebear with wings that does extra radiant damage

Bit of a necro post but just finished playing a rogue/wiz/bh and honestly had a hell of a fun run. Went 8 rogue in swash for constant sa, 6 in ghost slayer for the extra maledict and radiant/cold rites, and 6 wizard using the Lore Master UA for expertise in all Int abilities and buffed spells (additional force damage), combining things like haste or spirit shroud with twf on the bh. Using reborn as the race gave the whole thing a sick, Bloodborne-flavored feel that came out amazing!

My blood hunter is a Tiefling of the order of lycan. He is 16 years old, cuz our dm said around that age group, and he has the blink ability. He is from shadowfell and when he was little, he couldn't control his blink ability and blipped into a place called dragoncrest. He has lived there since and after a war my prty is going through, he will join them and I can give my super truamatized bard a rest as he takes his place as king. so now I got a blood hunter who is gonna have a special relationship with our lizardfolk artificer, due to them sometimes letting their preditor instincts get the better of them. HE uses a flame toung rapier and he is proficient in firearms. What I like about him, is that he has taken a vow to never take the life of another living thing, so that's gonna lead to some interesting role play and combat.

Im super glad for the existence of blood hunter because in the first campaign my party joined forces with a blood cult because the gods wanted to destroy the world and start a new one. I made a homebrew hag slave race (before they became a thing) that had a very short life expectancy so the dm agreed to allow me make a reincarnated character of the character from that campaign. The character was going to be a bloodhunter whos abilities resemble locked memories from their old life. The blood cult, the various warlock packs thr party made, the involvement of dragons and how with their help gave birth to that of tiamat and demonic abominations after traveling to hell due to losing a box in a haunted school dungeon that was a reference to corpse party. There is a lot more stuff but basically: dragons, demons and horror but the character is optimistic and kind even when dread surrounds them

Id say human variant should be fine, if your two +1s are on your relevant stats, and pick a feat that buffs the last remaining stat. If you min-max, you'll have three +3 scores and a feat bonus. Also, with the variant ability scores in Tasha's CoE, now almost any class can be relevant in nearly every class.

Hear me out: The blood hunter uses intelligence to hunt, he is part of an order, he's more educated than a rogue, fighter, ranger, paladin, cleric and so on. The only other class like the blood hunter is the wizard. Blood hunters should use their intelligence as their attack mod. You have the ability to now focus on being a meme character who either casts more spells or does more damage. And you're now similar to a Hexblade that can focus their abilities to con and charisma(survive damage with reaction spells) or dex and charisma(avoid getting hit at all).

I'm playing a Blood Hunter on a campaign set in the Grim Hollow cenario. Started as a Dampir, but he turned into a vampire and my Lycan form is a bat-like demon. It's probably my favorite character. 🙂👍

I really like taking a 1 lvl dip in order cleric for heroism another really good subclass to multiclass with is rune knight. Paladin, though it makes your character pretty MAD is actually really good with the lvl 11 bloodhunter ability giving vulnerability to radiant damage. (YAY for smites, also lay on hands helps you regain hp more easily. Celestial warlock is not a bad option either with the healing from the pact of the chain invocation and healing light.

Making a tiefling blood hunter who uses a whip, and at first I was thinking of getting him under the order of the mutant, but now I'm fully considering order of the lycan. He's got 8 classes in Blood Hunter right now, and 4 in fighter. I think he's going to be a valuable tank to a team of specific bounty/monster hunters.

I’m playing a werewolf blood hunter and multiclassed twilight cleric. I think they go super well with each other and have buffed Dex, wis, and cha. Everyone thinks I’m a sweet little cleric until I wolf out.

Good video. Why isn't this just a Fighter subclass? We're getting to a point in 5E where I'm asking why make a regular ol boring Fighter? Other editions have fallen apart on this and 5E seems to be headed that way.

I've gone Archer Order of the Prophane soul (The undying) variant Human - Taking Piercer and Sharpshooter by lvl 4 - Curse of the marked going high Dex Pre combat true strike turn 1 Hex - Sharpshooter attack (with advantage) turn two Amplified Curse of the marked - Sharpshooter attack (With Advantage) that's 1D8 (Bow) + 1D6 (Primal Rite) + 1D6 (Hex) + 1D6 (Curse) + 10 (Sharpshooter) + Dex damage at level 4. rerolling 1 of the dice. Oh and if you crit.... that 3D8 + 6D6 +10 + Dex rerolling 1 dice.

It bums me out a bit because I feel like you either have to be a crossbow fighter, or the lycanthrope to really be a great bloodhunter. Otherwise you just kind of fall off, not as good as really any other class would be at your job. Would love to see some buffs in a reasonable manner

I know this is an older video but I'm looking for help on how to actually play the class. For example, if a player uses his crimson rite and take the damage associated with their hemocraft die. Pretend they rolled a 2. Now, when they attack with the weapon, do they add 2 to the damage or are they re-rolling the hemocraft die with each attack? Am I understanding that they only lose 2 hit points once a day but get an extra 1d6 (at level 5) on each and every weapon attack?

I would disagree with saying CON should be the second highest stat and would agree with the official ruling, because the Tough feat is a fantastic plus if you have a decent CON anyways. Having the priorities be STR/DEX, INT, CON + Tough makes for a very powerful Blood Hunter.

Welp, my profane soul blood hunter got cursed by a werewolf first session we played so.. Now I'm a Profane Soul Lycan Blood Hunter? :D Edit: Does this mean I can't cut myself anymore to use blood magic? :O
