Being a half white half Mexican, raised in an old school Hispanic world can be a trip at times. I'll always remember seeing my first piece of sliced bread in kindergarten. 😊😊
@@jeffreypalacios2290 West Indian Archie (Delroy Lindo), Ving Rhames, Danny Trejo, Ken from Street Fighter, Billy Bob Thornton. Probably more I’m missing. Basically a bunch of the best supporting actors around that time in one cast for a movie like this 😂 Should also mention the ones that made it big later on were really underutilised. But Cruzito who was and isn’t well known acted his heart out, did a real good job as a main role. Rest of them did well too. Even minor roles like Clavo. A few of them were a bit cheesy and overacted but it kind of fits the feel of the film, adds to it rather than subtracts.
I think Miklo nixed the hit on Paco because deep down, he didn’t want Paco hurt. Paco was always the alpha leader of Vato Loco and like Cruzito says at the end, Miklo is still just trying to emulate Paco
@@jonsnipe5484 Montana was ahead of all these guys. They are just muscle. Ex. He knew that Carlos was being used by the AV. To get a race war between Brown's and blacks, he was right. Carlos was hooked on drugs and his soldados on drugs (ondas) Montana knew Carlos was going to destroy onda if it continued, and it did. AV killed Carlos and his men became junkies, and there was a war because of Carlos. Montana told Miklo, not to fight to avoid risking a lot of their carnales. If they would have hold on Onda would control the prisons because in 10yrs Chicanos would be the biggest population in jail, so no 1 would mess with them because they would be higher in #'s. That time line was about the 80's. And as we know now in real life, till this day Mexicans are #1 in the prisons of California.
reminds me of american history x when derek is upset that the whites are selling to other whites but the leader doesn't care and it makes him realize all the whites sticking together and loyalty stuff was a lie.
It would be so funny if at 8:57 when lightning said "spit shine that shoe boy" suddenly Danny trejo/geranamo appears and says "hey like i said, la onda dont shine shoes"
I think if anyone taught Miklo more than Montana it was that guy Jerry, in small interactions they had Jerry gave Miklo the frame work of how it was gonna be from now on in the prisons and with that advice Miklo knew that La Onda had to adapt or be destroyed
He thought he would get backup like Popeye did in chow hall, but at that point of the movie nobody respected La Onda after Carlitos splintered the gang
5:36 the grave mistake of Montana and the beginning of his downfall. He should have made an brutal example of Carlos for taking sides against Onda. Instead he let a junkie Carlos walk and continue to work with the AV, stirring the pot with war moves against the BGA. By the time Carlos dies, Montana can’t control his #1 and #2 soldiers from seriously questioning his leadership and taking action against the rival gangs which involved taking him out. He may have been able to save face by putting a hit on Carlos or just have some soldiers seriously fuck him up to put him out of commission.
Taking him out would have been the right move but it’s not so simple. Carlos was really one of the boys, the guys in the council loved him as much as the rest (apart from Popeye). It’s hard to spin him as being an enemy even with these circumstances. He after all did come to La Onda and offer them a cut first, and even when he went to the AV he wasn’t outright turning cloak and professing to no longer be Onda and be one of them. However, Montana should have taken him out anyway and made it explicitly clear that going against his authority means going against Onda. Would have projected far more strength both internally and to the other gangs. At the end of the day Montana was too soft and tender hearted. For him the gang was an ideal and a dream, he didn’t take it seriously in itself. It was supposed to be only a step between incarceration and eventual freedom and rehabilitation for his men (the whole parole storyline earlier in the film). He failed to appreciate the criminality of it’s members and that many had nothing left in their lives except this gang.
It was funny when Charlie pulls out all that plaka and the soldiers throw up the Onda gang sign in front of it. Usually people will throw their hands out don't want to give me some of that scratch.
7:16-7:20: That statement is true. Drug Offenders in America get harsher sentences more than Murderers and Rapists🤢🤢🤢🤢🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿 Something that shouldn’t be happening……
@@LilXancheX AV pulled the protection from him so that the BGA could do it for them. He was no longer useful and by doing it like that they could cause a war between Onda and BGA.
Crazy thing about this scene is, real Mexicans, not chicanos, are the biggest drug dealers in the world. And I’m brown… all the Spanish in this movie was broken, real Mexicans look at chicanos side ways. Still love this movie
Realistically they could have used the bent screw to bring in the yay themselves instead of them using him to run to the car park for gambling deals. They could have had the prison on lock themselves and then just take out bga and av
@Gsmooth Lower I know you probably won't see this all this time later, but I've watched BIBO probably a million times, and I'm pretty sure Geronimo and Magic cover the money so guards don't see it, sense cash is contraband, and also an indicator the individual is tied up in the rackets or drugs. Carlos pulling out that kind of fettia in public, is basically throwing a sign up for the guards saying, "Hey! I sell drugs!"
@@jackfrost7784 Anglo Saxons (ie Celtoids and Germanics) are originally by default one of the races with the lowest intellect… while Mediterraneans, Middle Easterners and even East Africans, East Asians, Indians and Mesoamericans were building civilisations, these low intellect races were living in huts and tribes like the Sub Saharans. They had no history before 600AD and the Frankish kingdoms, lmao
when Montana said "where so supposed to protect our people not destroy them" i felt that but when carlos said "i want onda to own the whole fuckin store!!!" i felt that too
PLEASE SOMEBODY EXPLAIN THIS! The scene where carlos runs his plan about the drugs by the onda council, he pulls out some cash and states "im making miklos gambling book look like pocket change(bubblegum change, or something similar) ... a couple of the council members do these hand signs when carlos pulls out the money, what is that about with the hand signs soon as he pulls out tge money?
Enjoy the highlife while polar bears are still in CA. As soon as you replace them all it'll be mexico slums. Sad how we have to carry the burden of the beans. You ruined your country and now you ruin ours. Everything you touch turns to ash. Savor your pyhrric victory, you're the agent of your own demise and you'll get your defeat in the worst way.
Jack Frost Your bigotry is sad. All U.S. Territory belongs to the Native American Nations and Mexico. I think your just jealous of the Chicano 🥊 deep down your scared of the bean and the burden is on you.
HEY is there a conection bettwen Jerry in this movie and George from the movie Blow, i mean he is a white guy who says at 2:54 he got caught with columbian weed in a airplane, hes working in the library so he might be workin on his parol like george was, and we even find out he has a hispanic friend at 7:04 who turned his back on him in the dope game, his version of Diego.I dont know im just thinking out loud
Woah he offers 30 percent for support same cut Sollozo offered Vito for basically the same thing. But in this story Miklo is Tesio. And in this story Montana never saw it coming.
