I wrote this song December 2019; my very first song. I had no idea, of course, the upheaval that 2020 would bring to us all. My inspiration was the resilience of all the birds in our garden throughout all the dangers they have to endure, and the red on the robin’s breast seemed to symbolise for me the fact that life will bloody us all at some point. I find Nature teaches me how to be stronger than I believe I can be.
The photos of the robins in the video have been shared with me by friends and the other photos are from my walks in the woods behind where we live. My husband appears in one; he’s one of the bravest people I know and remains “bloodied but unbowed”.
