Germinating songwriter, trying to discover more about the music and ideas in my soul. I started writing my own songs a few years ago and now feel brave enough to share them online.
Thanks for listening, Ken. I look forward to being able to sing some of these songs live one day, but this will have to do for now. I appreciate your encouragement. 💜🎶
Thank you! This was great fun to write. I don’t have much free time but try to write a song each month, just for fun. I’ll stop by & listen to your music too when I can later. 😊💜🎶
I love the idea that songs have an independent existence inside us, and that we just need to discover them, and ‘set them free’. It does seem like that sometimes. I refer to the process as being ‘in the zone’, but you have found an altogether more poetic way of expressing it! It goes without saying, but I am going to say it ….. a lovely performance.
Thank you for posting such a thoughtful comment, Paul. It means a lot to me. Discovering the creative spirit inside me still exists helps me believe it doesn’t necessarily diminish with age. 💜🎶
Thank you for taking the time to listen, John. You’re the “real deal”, in my estimation; a musician with great skill and experience. My smile & confidence have certainly grown a little bigger. 😘
Thank you for taking the time to comment, Mark. My current responsibilities mean I haven’t been wandering in the woods much lately and I miss them, so I plan on taking your advice. 😊 🌳
I’m going to make some time to listen to your songs. You’ve many more than me! I’m very much a beginner but you have an impressive selection on your channel and I’m impressed by what I’ve heard so far. I don’t write many love songs. Maybe that’s something I could explore.
Thank you so much, Nigel, and I’m glad you enjoyed my set too. I feel very lucky to have my musical mates on Zoom to share my songs with. Nothing beats performing live for me. It was very special to have Mr. H next to me too. 😎🎶
love your song. i’m not so religious now but always remember that God created the world out of nothing and that He made us in His image. Creativity, i believe comes in those moments when we are free from worries and thoughts of the day. Just idling, even seemingly bored, the mind will invent. It’s good to wander and wonder in nature- it created your song
Thank you so much, Jimmy! That makes me very happy indeed. 😊 Our garden is surrounded by woodland & the birds are a constant joy. Watching them, listening to them teaches me so much. They start singing very early this time of year and I opened my window at 4 this morning to listen to them. 🎶
@@suzanneharper9129 That must be heaven on earth Suzanne! I wrote a song once to the notes a bluebird was singing on my window sill! Your garden sounds like a delight! 👍😎✌🏼
That’s a really lovely soothing melody, like listening to gentle waves breaking on the shore. Beautiful voice. I wish we had way more time for sure and so many things steal it in so many small ways each day, almost without noticing. Wouldn’t it be great if this thief sold it on ebay and we could buy it back. 😊
This song was very touching Suzanne!🙏 It has such sorrow and anguish against such a beautiful melodic back drop! Very bittersweet. We all fall down that staircase of memories and the scars may be deep but we somehow manage to wear them well! Thank you!🙏😎✌🏼
Awesome song Suzanne! This song is very bluesy and swampy! I love it! We Are Not Alone would have been equally cool! I subscribed to your channel so keep walking and playing!👍😎✌🏼
Thanks for listening, Glen & your kind words. I’ve just checked out some of your songs too. You enjoy making music just as I do. I often sing my songs out in the woods in the mornings. They’re getting to know this one. 😉
Thank for listening, Harriet. I love to walk and sing out by the fields and in the woods. I haven’t been songwriting very long, but that’s where I find most of my ideas. 😊🎶💜
@@harrietbarbir8579 It certainly is! I’ve a lot of responsibilities right now so songwriting is how I find space and connect. I’ll make done time tomorrow to listen to your songs. Thank you for listening to mine. I don’t know if I’ll ever record anything properly, but the joy is in the creating. 💜🎶
Such a magical song for such a wonderful piece of nature. The kids and I learned this summer that when the dandelion is seeding, it’s fully water proof! You can submerge it upside down in water and it’ll still keep its beautiful round sphere. But a simple blow will carry the seeds far and wide. Amazing flower and beautiful music!
I didn’t know that, Ashley! How wonderful to hear from you, and how lucky your children are to have you to instil a wonder for nature in them. These treasures will stay with them for a lifetime. Sending my love. 💜💜
Thank you for listening, John, and for your encouragement. I’d love to record my songs properly one day but my time’s not my own right now. I’m glad I can at least keep songwriting. I’ll be sure to let you know if it ever happens! 💜🎶
Another excellent song. You seem to be at your very best singing about nature. You really ought to put some of your photos into your videos. Good though it is to see your smiling faceI´d love to have seen some of your danadelion pictures
Thank you, Andy! I feel that way about my nature songs too. As I’m new to all this, I like to experiment now & again, but I always come back. I planned to add more photos in this but my free time’s limited so it had to be a quick recording & post. Hopefully things will settle down eventually 🤞.
I know you understand how healing Nature can be, Julie. We’ve dandelions, daisies & buttercups in abundance right now. I was sad when they mowed the verges but they’ve bounced right back!! 🌼
@@suzanneharper9129 I am relishing the cow parsley and buttercups here in Somerset, they lift my heart after the long winter, much like your beautiful song does. Xx
Has a very moody Mississippi Delta musical vibe. Reminded me of the feeling of hearing Bobbie Gentry's "Ode To Billie Joe" way back. an instant classic.
I’m a big fan of Bobbie Gentry, Steve, and you picked up the vibe I was going for, though I was nervous of even trying. It’s all an experiment for me, and your opinion is always one I rate highly. Thank you! 😊💜🎶
Hi, Suzanne.I love your new song. As a nature and woodland lover, your lyrics affect and safely guide me into your place. As a music aficionado, your sixties' eclectic direction is imprinted in my soul. As a producer, my ears hear lush strings and cello, framing your fine guitar playing and musicality of your gentle and tender voice and baroque influences. Mesmerized by its distinctive intimacy and writing qualities, this music style inspired and molded me early on. Never dated, yours is forever music. Your title was the right choice, too. Thank you for your fine art and performance. Best, Jeff 🎸❤️
Thank you so much for your generous, thoughtful comments, Jeff. I’ve had many different reactions to this song, suggesting all sorts of influences & arrangements. If I have the opportunity, it’ll be fun to experiment and see what develops. I’m enjoying exploring! 🎶💜
Mmmm! This has gone straight to the top of the list of my favourites of yours Suzanne. Gorgeous sweeping vocal - making use of parts of your voice I've never heard before. It's really "hooky", the rhythm of it drives on - keeps walking! Great message with a moody undertone. Just lovely.
Thanks for listening, lovely man 😘. Red Riding Hood crossed with The X Files and the Blair Witch Project. And it all began with a nice little morning walk through the woods and a guitar tuned to DADGAD. 😎
Blair Witch meets Joni Mitchell! A real departure for you and it´s slightly disturbing but brilliant. Not sure whether "You´re not walking alone" is good news or bad. Ooooh - that final chord is chilling. I´m sure this is a song of hope so maybe I´m viewing it from the wrong perspective but the best songs allow the listener to interpret them in their own way.
“Blair Witch meets Joni Mitchell” 🤣! Oh I love that, Andy. Take the meaning anyway you want, m’dear. When we set our songs free, they do whatever they want. It’s deliberately ambiguous. I just explained how it began. Who knows where it’ll end up? I couldn’t resist that final chord. 💜🎶
