Thank you for the question. I don’t think “bridging” exists in the context of antiplatelet medications. So the question is whether stopping the clopidogrel (plavix) is safe. Data are not as robust as they are for CAD. Usually, however, risk is not high for a temporary hold. The best advice is to consult the person who performed the procedure to assess risk. Having said that, many spinal procedures will need all antithrombotics off.
