I went to the ER two days ago for severe blood loss... my menstrual cycle lasted for 21...days. I experienced dizziness, headaches, very lethargic... I was told only of a blood transfusion, no other options. I was not told of the risks of a blood transfusion. My hemoglobin level was at 7.7 when I entered the ER, the next day I was told it dropped to 6. The end result is that I did not concent to the blood transfusion. I questioned the doctors about alternatives/ other option. I also questioned them about the risks of a blood transfusion. I ended up choosing an iron transfusion. I am disappointed that so much information was withheld from me. If I did not become my own advocate it scares me.
Been having blood transfusions for a internal bleeding hemorrhoids. 4 times whitin a year. I thought I would never get one. To save my life need to do 😢
I actually got a blood transfusion 3 weeks ago because I would not stop menstruating. Blood lost during that time made me weak so it needed to be replaced.
Well it can't "not work" but if a wrong blood type is given to someone their blood cells will start to dissolve due to the antibodies in the wrong blood and cause some serious problems...
