Dive into the history of the life-saving procedure of blood transfusions and how it has evolved since the 17th century.
--
In 1881, doctor William Halsted rushed to help his sister Minnie, who was hemorrhaging after childbirth. He quickly inserted a needle into his arm, withdrew his own blood, and transferred it to her. After a few uncertain minutes, she began to recover. What made this blood transfusion successful? Bill Schutt explains the history of the life-saving procedure.

We are the most fortunate generation in the history of mankind upto this point, for being able to gain so much knowledge about different fields just from our homes. Just imagine how much our ancestors struggled to gain knowledge. Just getting access to few books itself was very difficult.

A blood transfusion saved my life when I started hemorrhaging after giving birth! Thanks to others I was able to raise my now 13 yr old daughter and have 2 more children. Please donate if you're able. I donate at every chance now because without that transfusion, I wouldn't be alive today! You really are saving lives! I'm also a nurse so I often think of all the lives others helped me save just by donating. I'm a huge advocate of blood and plasma donation and never miss the opportunity to let people know how important blood transfusions are. Sorry but I get emotional thinking about how people I'll never meet saved my life and made it possible for me to save others. It's a beautiful gift!

Would be cool to have another video along the same lines as this but detailing transfusions that have been massprocessed with other blood from whatever source of blood. just one protein? Like how can we have transfusions made from mass production rabbit farms for their blood an their high protein count like in their C1 inhibitors for people with low or non? Verses how can other peoples proteins be made the same ways in a big batch but still have side effects like as if the proteins still have markers from their original sources?

Please donate blood if you're able, when you donate blood you also donate plasma, which is used to make IVIG, a critical treatment for autoimmune conditions. Not only do you save someone with a blood transfusion, you also create for others a life changing treatment. If you do donate, thank you. I have been a recipient to both emergency blood transfusions, saving my life, twice, as well as currently going every 2 weeks for IVIG. If like me, you can't donate blood, spread the word to others who can, save multiple lives.
