A review/critique/retrospective/analysis of FromSoftware's "Bloodborne," a spiritual successor/spin-off of the Souls formula. Now commonly regarded as part of the "Soulsborne" series, it features some notable improvements over other Souls games, with some of its unique changes being among my favorites of the entire series, but I ultimately didn't get as much fun or enjoyment out of it as I did other games in this series. It's not a bad game I did enjoy playing it, but I feel like some of its design changes are for the worse, and it didn't live up to my hopes or expectations.
Note: From July 2019 to November 2020, this review was originally subtitled "Underwhelming and Disappointing," but I've chosen to change that title to something less provocative in hopes that it will stem some of the vile hatemail and toxic comments I've had to moderate over this review, and promote more positive discussions about the game's merits and shortcomings instead of knee-jerk reactions to the title. I still stand by that the game was, overall, "underwhelming and disappointing" to me, and maybe even a little overrated if I'm being perfectly honest, but hope people will be more apt to actually listen to the review instead of seeing a title they automatically don't like and jumping right into hurling deplorable insults at me.
