The whole issue with hamburger Hill is that so many people died for an irrelevant hill that was quickly abandoned after the battle.

I like to think the marine at 14:27 didn't actually die but just got badly wounded and gets evac'd and gets his Medal of Honor and Purple Heart lol

There is a dark reason why it was called the Hamburger Hill. It's because that battle was a human meat grinder.

28:10 3 battalions of US airmobile troops and an ARVN battalion participated in the assault.

My 1SGs from Basic Training and my first duty station were both there. The number of guys that came off that hill and I served under two of them. Some day I'll figure the odds, but it has to be small.

Please dont Hate on me guys. As soon as Dip said that Marines were dropped and also fought, that is inaccurate. The Battle was the culmination of a large Search and Destroy Operation lauunched into the A Shau Valley at that time in 1969 and while I do believe there were some Marine Units that did take part and saw Heavvy COmbat elsewhere in the Valley, it was the US Army that fought there the enitre time (possibly some ARVN reinformcements that had been sent as relief forces possibly fought near Ap Bia, but unless I missed something (and ike I said, I amm very familiar with the Vietnam War) and please tell me so, it was all Army Grunts of the 101st.

I am sorry that I just commented, but I wanted to mention something. As a self-annointed researcher of all things War since I was a little boy (I am an Army Combat Veteran that served with the 10th Mountain in Afghnanistan as a Sapper NCO) sch as both World Wars, especially the 2nd, Korea, Vietnam, etc...and Vietnam was a very serious topic for me. But the hil was also known in Vietnamese as Ap Bia and many historians, Military commanders at the time, and soldiers point at this Battle being the so-called "Straw that Broke the Camels back" and for 2 reasons. The first being that TIME Magazine ran a Misleading story (or more of a story that did not correct itself) abouth the Toll of the Vietname War: This Weeks Dead. It showed the pictures of what I believe were 200 KIA that week and because it did not specify that it was the total in the whole Country, many thought that it was only the Soldiers that were KIA at the Battle of Hamburger Hill. And when we did finally take the Hill, we then just wlaked away and left and within weeks it was re-occupied by the NVA and thus, the question of 'Why were we even fighting there and our men dying for nothing." Look it up, it is true story

I have been away far too long and missed watching your Vidoes Diplex. These are so awesoem and I am hoping that one of these days I can b uild my Gaming PC to Be able to begin playing this. If you can, do some on the Battle of the Slopes and Dak-To during gthe 1967 Central Highlands Fighting. Culminated in the Brutal battle for hill 875 by the 173rd Airborne Brigade, "The Sky Soliders" qand I hope you research these battles. You will be shocked. And I am not sure if many of the younger kids would ever even go to look and research any of this, lol, or that WWI and WWII were not foght in black and white (which always leaves me speechless and unable to even continmue). Another almost unknown battle, one that had I not just stumbled upon it as an 18 or 19 yo at Barnes and Noble back in the late 90's was The "Battle of Dai Do" (also known as the "Battle of Đông Hà") took place from 30 April to 3 May 1968 in Quảng Trị Province. ALl I can say is that the Marines stumbled into many NVA Formations moving through the Area and the fighting was so fierce that it became almost a Trench Warfare Battle at times and fighting was very cose quarters. After so many days, the Reserve Unit was the 3/2st Infantry Battalion of the Americal DIvision (Which has a very tainted history and record during the war for many reasons b ut this shows that not every one of those soldiers or units were bad) and had to be flown up to the battle. they were told to Hold the village of Nhi Ha and defend it, which they did from numerous, up to + Major NVA Assaults and many firefights while patrolling the perimetwr and reconning tasks. What was amazing was that during this battle, the NVA had Artilley just across and inside the DMZ and could shell the Marines and Americans ferociously which was very rare elsewhere. Im gonna stop there nbut please read or look up the Book "The Magnificent Bastards"-the Joint Army-Marine Defense of the Dong Ha Combat BAse, or online. Truly amazing.

Hello i know this is not about this game but I've seen your videos with MOWAS2 and i have startet to try modding but there is a problem i can't find the localization.pak is this something i have to download or something else hope you can help? 🙂

the game missed what VN war was like so bad, To begin with the battle was in the pouring rain. 2) the hill was about a 70 degree grade 3) no sand bags they used logs and spider holes 4) no where near enough arty on US side This from one who was there not this battle My year was '70 with the 101st and I flew not ground pounder but saw a lot of hot LZ The worst was Ripcord Look it up.
