@@blamesocietyfilms It's fine. It's just when it's not your holiday, it's a constant reminder that you don't fully fit in and when I see Christmas decorations up a day after Halloween, or get wished Merry Christmas in mid-November, it gets especially depressing.

Ah, yes. I will be sure to shake my fist at the TV if any Hanukkah themed programs air. After all, I'd hate to see not "my" holiday mentioned.

@@captainnutella67 With respect, Hannukah is very low-key. It's about a miracle of a fire that was only supposed to burn for one day lasting eight. While there's a lot of stuff for the kids, it's not one of the really important holidays. Radio stations don't suddenly play Hannukah songs 24/7. While you might call your mom on the first and/or 8th night, it's not a huge deal if you miss it; no one is expecting you to fly across the country to be home in time for Hannukah. On the other hand, Christmas the be-all end all of the year. People go *nuts* trying to one-up each other over Christmas. People will spends thousands of dollars to have the most extravagant Christmas decorations. There is an ubiquitous amount of Christmas songs, decorations, clothing, food, etc. There is also the constant reminder that THIS DAY IS ABOUT FAMILY, and there are tons of us who don't have that; then there's the constant reminder that this is the time you're supposed to be happy and if you're not in a great place emotionally, it feels like the whole world is shaming you for not having your shit together. If you love Christmas, that's wonderful. I would never tell you that looking forward to a holiday is bad, and if everything Christmas fills you with joy, I am legitimately glad for you. But it's one day. One day a year and the other 364.24 of them are equally valid. I get that since it's in the end of the month, you have a month to look forward to it (well, there's technically always a month to look forward to it, but calendars are generally separated by month, so you have a countdown that the 4th of July doesn't). That's great. but when a whole month isn't good enough for your one day and you spread that earlier and earlier each year, the day becomes diluted. What's the point of wishing someone a Merry Christmas if it's only actually Christmas 1.6% of the time you wish it? And before you say "Well, wishing someone a Merry Christmas in November means I hope when Christmas comes for them, it'll be good", think about that. When was the last time someone said to you "I hope you have a good time 6 weeks from now!"? tl;dr: Christmas is everywhere. Think for a minute about the difference that has when instead of filling you with joy it fills you with frustration and sadness.
