I've had a Ludisia for years. Mine blooms in the winter and the blooms seem to last forever. But what I love the most is the leaves. Mine is very full almost like a Wandering Jew with the long hanging vines covered in those beautiful velvety leaves. There is another orchid like this but the leaves have a bright geen pattern like electicity in them. I'm on the look out for that one to add to my family of orchids. I just found your channel and can't wait to get more familiar with it. Your a good speaker which I enjoy, many people ramble on and on but say nothing. I also appreciate the knowledge you have. Well done Michael.

Love your videos! You have such a great energy! I really appreciate you mentioning the blooms, I also really like the tiny little flowers Ludisias have. And, oh my, are these plants crazy lol! Mine also always seem to want to grow to the side and they literally grow and move overnight. Just very interesting!

This is the very first orchid that I had over 15 years ago...so I don't have it now ...sad. Thanks for profiling this plant! I love the color of your t-shirt, too!!! It looks great on you!

Thanks for profiling this plant's blooms. People generally say jewel orchids are usually grown for their leaves, but I would still want them to flower :)

This is actually one of my favorite or kids because of how beautiful and iridescent the leaves are. Mine in New England typically blooms just after Christmas and my flowers bikes are starting to fade now. Never thought that this could go semi Hydro but I’m definitely going to give it a try

Love Ludisia Discolor... Since you enjoy this one so much, you should consider getting other types... They are just as beautiful.

I think you can get a less stemmy jewel orchid if you plant in a wide, shallow pot. If they go over the edge of the pot they just keep growing more stem until the next surface, and then grow upwards.

Mine has started blooming! I had no clue the little white buds would look like teeny tiny orchids themselves.

I have a specimen of this type if orchid ( coppery brown leaved type) which I've had probably a good ten years. Had it's good and bad points...mainly good and it's about a week away from blooming once again. I love this plant. Would love to find other types of jewel orchids.

The only thing I would recommend with the Ludisia is a flatter and larger tray like pot, so more of the rhizome can sit on it and send down roots and produce more plants for you. i.postimg.cc/fLRzz4gY/DSCN1460.jpg This is my Ludisia discolor and I grow in organic media due to my climate but I wanted to show you what Ludisias can do.
