This is awesome viewing from Blackpool's most famous Vlogger, Not only do you show us the granduer of the Promenade, but more importantly the back streets that most people on visits never get to see. its so sad that not only in Blackpool but all around the UK a lot has been left to rot away and become derilict But you show it in sobering way which is quite touching with your choice of background music. Your dulciet blacker's accent gives the channel a homely feel and gives one the impression ude be a lovely lad to sit and have a cup of tea and share a cake with. i always harp back to 1976 when working on the Grand Theatre ,great fun times we had in the city of illuminations... Regards from North East Thailand
The retro arcade is a great idea . Brings back happy memories of when you couldn't walk past an arcade on the front without hearing "welcome to the fantasy zone... get ready!" coming from the Space Harrier cabinets ! Awesome times !
Was in Blackpool in 2019 for 4 days, from Aussie, eye opener, had a good visit but found somewhat run down and could not not get a decent meal after 5 at pub
Loving seeing all your videos, You passed where I used to live and worked, and where I got married. Such fond memories but I’m shocked how run down it’s all gone, Central drive was always bad, Never understood the money that has come into the Town all these years yet has never been spent on the back streets, Loved being brought up here loved my life back then, But wouldn’t like to live here now thanks for sharing loved going down memory lane.
Another great vlog....I've never been to Blackpool so it's nice to see a well informed and honest depiction of the town and all it has to offer...thank you
I remember the first time I stayed at that travelodge a few years ago I got off the tram and walked up late at night and thought this area looks rough as toast but still shocked to hear it is one of the most deprived in the country
My grandmothers brother, Jim Carroll (I think) used to live in 222 Bloomfield Road in the 1950s. We stayed there a couple of times when I was very young, 5 or 6 year old. I can still remember those happy times and this video brings back happy memories. I looked the address up on Google maps and it hasn't changed at all. My "Uncle Jim" was very friendly with Stan Mortenson, who like him was from South Shields. Keep up the good works, I enjoy your presentations.....Blackpool, warts and all!
Your monochrome photographs are really good. Many childhood memories of Blackpool in the 50's and 60's. Went to look at Barton Avenue where we used to stay and it looked very different to how I remembered it. However, many happy days there.
If you look up from the bus stop at 3.02 minutes to the Dormer Windows that we're I lived as a kid in 1981 , there was an exotic car dealership opposite that went bankrupt we had Astin martins parked behind our fish n chip shop J & S fish and chip . Brings back some good memories watching your vids Thankyou keep up the good work ✌
You were right at clarendon road. I have soo many happy memories there visiting my aunt and uncle. They're no longer living. My aunt died in 1990, my uncle died in 2004. My cousins live in Marton and Highfield. Their kids all moved away from Blackpool to get better work opportunities.
I used to live near Bloomfield Road but forgot how far up it actually starts. 😯 Another great video. Thank you for very interesting uploads and all your infos x
Really enjoyed this video! Been to Bloomfield Road a fair few times as a visiting supporter. Most certainly a fixture I look forward to when we are in the same division. I know exactly what you mean about the floodlights on the Bloomfield pub. It is light pollution especially with residential houses about but you have to be so careful by a roadside because of the glare that they can provide.
Hi mate realy enjoy ur videos. Been watching for some time now and like the way you cover blackpool. Love the theme tune. Goes with whot you are doing keep the good work up
If you ever tape Regent road can you point out no16 where the murder took place...Brides in the bath ....On Wednesday 10 December 1913 as darkness was falling a newly- wed couple knocked at the door of a boarding house at 16, Regent Road, Blackpool. They were answered by Mrs Crossley the landlady. Joseph Smith and Alice Burnham...Thanks for putting these videos on....I love Blackpool was always there as kids.
I already have in a Halloween special last year, although I will be taking a walk down Regent Road again soon, and I will point out the murder house again.
Same here Mark the blue. I used to come on holidays and day trips all through the Fifties (that would probably be before your time) but I have always had an obsession about Blackpool ever since. It just sticks in the mind somehow. I spend a lot of time watching RU-vid videos about it. M Kennedy.
That is not the Bloomfield Road I remember (I was only interested in the soccer - football - ground) of a team who had just been relegated from the first division - 1967's version of the Premier League - with a steel stand built by Archibald Leitch carrying a motif on its roof advertising Blackpool Tower.
Remember these places in 50s keep them coming love watching them hope one day you will take walk down bispham please give shout out for mary and jeff short from denton we go bispham regular and stay at langwood hotel lovely place look after you 100%.peace
Am I right Stephen..but wasn't there some sort of theatre/club very near to the old football ground? Possibly maybe even that old club could be what I'm thinking of,only I remember going to see Slade somewhere around there in August,1972.
There are social clubs either side of the ground. I think one was called the Number One Club. The building which is to become the Arcade Club was one of them.
Great videos. Im a tattoo historian and this is a bit of a long shit but I wondered if you had any photos of Bonny st, Foxhall road and central drive from the 70s,80s and 90s?
Hi whatever happened to them council highrise block? Did they get blown up in the end? I know there was talk of getting rid of them just before I left Blackpool ten years ago.
Just saw one of your other videos and it answered my question lol. It's quite a dramatic thing when you see it wow I would love to see something like that in person one day, heck of a dust cloud that! 😉 😉 😉
