I started crocheting a week into lockdown too! And now I do it full time and I am currently slightly behind on my paid projects and way behind on my personal ones! But it is amazing how many different types of things I have been able to create since 2020 and now I'm making my own patterns and creating bespoke ski masks and headpieces and I'm even making a pair of basketball shorts for my son with his initials on them! My personal project is a pair of jogger pants that I've started and then had to set aside because I need to take care of Christmas gifts! I am never spending another dime other than the cost of yarn on Christmas ever again! My mother would be so proud. She tried to get me into crochet when I was about eight and I thought none of it took until I got my first hook and ball of yarn from Amazon and it was like muscle memory. And I'm 42! So my mom's tutorials were many many moons ago lol😅

Both my mother and my grandmother tried to teach me how to make a granny square and never succeded. This has bothered me all my life! My mom would poke fun at me too because, as she put it, It iS sOoOo EaSy. Fast forward to today. After watching this video about 100 times I have managed to learn how to make a granny square! AND not show the seam. I took picks and sent it so my mom and she loved it. My grandmother passed away in 2016 but I imagine that she's pretty happy about it too. Now I am planning a little blanket so I can practice more! Thank you for such a detailed tutorial that even this lady can follow!

So glad you showed this. I've made my granny squares like this for years, but my crocheting friends said it won't work & turning granny squares are unheard of. Lol, it did not make since to me because it did work & I continued to make them like this. Again, thanks got showing this & I'm sharing it with all the people that said it wouldn't work.

After watching your tutorial, I started a square using Caron Simply Soft yarn and an I (5.5 mm) hook. I love it! I've always liked solid granny squares, but had trouble getting them to stay square and not look "wobbly". This one looks very square and I love that there's no seam. Thanks! Blessings all!!!!! Oh, btw, thanks for reminding those of us in the USA about the difference in US and UK terms. 💗

Awesome thank you. I first learned this style square from BellaCoCo’s tutorial which was great. I thought that the seam line was just something I was doing wrong. Then I found your video here. Thank you for making it it was very informative and definitely improved my granny square. I do wish however that you found a way to make it so we can see better of which stitch you’re going into as this pattern is a little more difficult to see which stitch to go into sometimes. I don’t know if making the camera a little closer would help or if just a bigger hook size or yarn may have helped. As it was a little difficult sometimes to tell which stitch I was supposed to be going into but other than that this video is it fantastic, thank you again so much! If I could give this video five stars I surely would. And I never comment on videos, ever, this is a first so that says a lot.

Hi Rebekkah I hope you are doing well. I have made your solid grannys using your seamless version. ...4 rounds. Now I have decided I want to add a fifth round in a contrasting colour and have some questions. 1. where would I join the new colour on existing squares? 2. do you have a joining method for these squares that would give me the look of a “border” between the squares.? I’d like to get the look of more crochet fabric between the squares. Make sense? Thanks so much.

I made this granny into 2 squares that became a wearable summer top by making a neckline attached at top of shoulders and at the corners at the mid upper arm making peek-a-boo shoulders. The sides were attached. Wish I could send a photo. It would have a noticeable seam if I don’t have this granny technique. Thank you!

Like many others who have commented, this video is really helpful and the squares look great without the line! I was just wondering if you have a written pattern for this because I'm trying, unsuccessfully, to teach myself to read patterns and I wondered if I could do it retrospectively - learn the practical way and then see the words. Alternatively can you provide any help (resources) with reading crochet patterns. Many thanks in advance
