When I watch this, I am reminded if the two times I saw Blossoms in 2018. The first was at the Neighbourhood Festival in Warrington, and the performance much like this. Sunny day, huge crowd, should have been magnificent. But somehow fell a bit short. Fell a bit flat. The second, less than a month ago, at a sold out Rock City in Nottingham. Utterly magnificent. Totally triumphant. My point? I don’t think they’re QUITE ready for the huge crowds yet. They’re still growing. But if that second album was anything to go by (and what a perfect pop treat it really was), they’ll get there soon enough.
thenoodleshop Sorry mate - I understand and agree with your reply about Interpol making one of the most important rock albums of the 2000s and that, hands down, they would deserve a headline slot far more than Blossoms. However, I wholeheartedly disagree with your generalisation about people who enjoy Blossoms' music being idiots who both 'dislike and don't understand' music. Id like to think I am open and happy to listen to a varied and eclectic mix of genres, from rap, to pop, shoegaze, world music, indie, rap, soul, rock, rnb and blues. Love a bit of Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Alice In Chains, Frank Ocean, Joan Armatrading, Kate Bush, Enya, Grimes, Janelle Monae, The Smiths, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, anything classical, etc. At the same time, I love a good Blossoms tune and there's no denying the anthemic feelgood style of a lot of their music. I can think of a ton of current artists producing regurgitated, sexualised, brain-dead music in the charts right now, and I really feel Blossoms are not a part of that. Their first album was really enjoyable, with the extended edition version especially good. Are they a revolutionary band? Hell no. Do I think they make enjoyable tracks? Absolutely. Again, you're entitled to your opinion but please don't assume that by liking Blossoms that someone is automatically a tone deaf idiot with no musical taste.
Niall Kemp and even when the Arctic were into the process of being the super band that they are now, people said things like “they’re gonna be big.” Or “they deserve to be headliners” the headliners in that time were the strokes, Interpol, etc; and look now they headline together with other bands the most important festivals around the world, and what’s the problem? There is no problem, it’s just the evolution of music.
I wanna know Since you've been gone Have I been on Your mind? 'Cause I know I was for a while Late last night I saw you out For a moment I Turned to stone 'Cause there's still something only we see Don't talk I'd have run to kiss your mouth Is it me or Just a dream that never dies? There's a reason why I never returned your calls I wish I could forget it all But I never returned your calls 'Cause I'd fall in again We're leaving here We're on the run The time has come I don't hear no alarms Fall asleep in my arms A lover's game Is never fair But I still care And I know you do too 'Cause there's a part of me that's you Don't talk I'd have run to kiss your mouth Is it me or Just a dream that never dies? There's a reason why I never returned your calls I wish I could forget it all But I never returned your calls 'Cause I'd fall in again I still find parts of you In the corners of my bedroom Someday comes too soon The radio plays our favourite tune again There's a reason why I never returned your calls I wish I could forget it all But I never returned your calls 'Cause I'd fall in again
