Army guy here. IMO this way of blousing boots looks way more clean than how many of my fellow soldiers do it. Usually way too high, like a couple inches above the boots or too low so they really arent bloused at all. Thank you for uploading this!
In the Corps, we wrapped the laces all the way around our ankle then tied them in front with the bow and double knot. Then we bloused the trousers (Marines don't wear 'pants') with the boot band. Good video.
That's probably how they did it in the 80s/90s (guessing from the age of your icon-photo). And gotta remember, this is probably for non-marines (read; civillians) so pants, is the more common vernacular. I'll admit it does look spiffy, but I'm guessing you just tucked 'em in, when on an op?
@hellacoorinna9995 always used bootbands in ops..tucking them would cause dirt to slip into the boots and the cuffs to get all gnarly/sweaty. If you rolled the cuffs and put bootband under inside then they were easy and stayed on. Saw a few Marines tuck them if they lost bootbands, tho
Simple... 1. tuck ONLY the hem of the trouser under the blousing band 2. Place band at 3rd boot eyelet from the top. 3 grow out your hair a bit and run wizard sleeves
It's hard to take a Pro Tip about tying boots from someone who ties a Granny Knot. A properly tied knot is Balanced with the tails and loops left and right, not up and down. Right over left, left over right, Makes a knot both tidy and tight. There's no reason to bury the tail a Tying a knot at the aglet is convenient when opening your boots and keeping them from unlacing. But cinching those tip knots into the shoe knot means you have to dig out those two knots to untie the boot rather than pulling the tail. Tucking in the extra four feet of laces seems unnecessary and uncomfortable. Maybe that's necessary to open the boot to the extreme for airing it out. I would always trim the excess on my boots.
Thanks for the easy explanation. When you mentioned using two bands would you go end-to-end and double wrap, or use the two bands wrapped independently?
Lol it's not incorrect to have you boot blouses above the boot. It looks good when you got the sock showing a lil bit. It's all preference. My Senior Drill instructor always had his boots blouses tight. I'll never forget.
The point of Blousing other than being a tradition is to stop bugs as well as dirt etc getting into your boot or sock... how is having it above the boot going to stop stuff getting into your boot, it won't so yes the correct way to blouse is to have the elastic tighten the pants onto the boot. anything outside of this is incorrect, hopefully this clears things up for you.
@@themisunderstoodgorilla7030 that’s what I’ve always assumed. I’m not in the military but when I go hunting and hiking I always blouse under the knot of my laces cause the whole point is to keep dirt and pine needles from getting in my boot 😂😂
You'll look like a recruit with your socks showing. "...Each trouser leg will be bloused using blousing straps and will cover the top three rows of the boot eyelets..."
There is another way of blousing the boots that involves using velcro straps instead of the boot bands. You actually do the blousing with the cammies down and when you pull them up, they'll be tighter than a frogs ass. It was too mote dog for me though.
Whats the manufacturer of those boots? Looks like Altama which does a lot of USGI stuff issued at boot camp. I don’t like the hot weathers.. too thin of an ankle and tongue and so they slip around way too much. but I know the Marines also commonly wear the Danner Rats which is a great boot. Personally I love side zips, which is now acceptable by USAF but not sure of other branches. But man, once you go side zip you’ll never go back. My favorite.. Danner Tanicus side-zip.
I was blousing my boots like that the first day they let us blouse them and I got IT for not having it on the sock🤣 I spent the entirety of bootcamp confused as to why they put it on the sock
You can also buy a self locking shoelaces mechanism for a few bucks, i'm not a marines but in France some of our shoes have this thing from factory, and even when they don't you can put the little piece on, it works great
So basically these boots are the new jungle boot? Bc I’ve seen a lot of marines going to the jungle and train with this boots so that’s my question the typical jungle boot are just a memory now bc they were replaced for this kind of boots correct? And if that’s a yes which ones are better the typical jungle boots the classic ones or this new type of boot?
Random question, I bought woodland marpat from a surplus store, partially to exercise my 2a and firearm train in full gear cause I can, but mainly for airsoft so I get real use out of them, but the uniform has EGA stitched in it, no rank, name, u.s. marine or unit patches, not at all trying to come off as military, just camouflaged, but my question is: is it disrespectful to wear the uniform? I didn’t realize it was there and I did not earn to wear that emblem so I kinda feel disrespectful for wearing it.

Would this look good with any type of boots? because i do airsoft and i don’t like the sloppy way of butting the pants over the boots but i use hiking boots for the comfyness and so i can run in them
Super late response here but it should look fine i think but i will warn they tend to ride up a bit when running or going up steps but thats just my experience. Dont know if ya still need this but 🤷

No it's just personal preference. If anything two boot bands would be better for skinny people since there is more tension keeping them secured around your leg.
