Bill Gottlieb, America’s #1 natural health coach and author of Bottom Line’s Speed Healing, offers up a simple tip about easing itchy skin with a hair dryer. All you need to do is put the hair dryer on warm and hold it a few inches away from the itchy spot. Move the air back and forth over this spot to release histamines. This may make the spot a little itchier at first but should ultimately relieve the discomfort for up to an hour afterward. This is particularly useful for poison ivy and poison oak.

Started doing this off instinct, and holy shit, did it feel good! So glad to know that this is actually used out there - and that I’m actually not weird.

totally works, it's like scratching the itch with air which is great because you're not breaking the skin and introducing germs from your fingers.. totally safe way to get that scratch the itch relief and it has the added bonus that it stops the itch for a few hours.. best trick ever!

To me he mischaracterizes it when he says "unfortunately" it gets more itchy at first. I LOVE that temporary burst of intense itchiness it causes! Very gratifying. And then the itchiness is completely gone afterward. Perfect!

It is absolutely amazing how well this works. I was in a hotel and I may have been exposed to mites of some sort and I think my idea originally was to kill the microscopic creature with the heat but I immediately noticed the itching went away and actually during the blow drying the sensation is extremely pleasant. And it may have indeed killed the mites if that was the original cause because the rash just went away pretty soon. I have also noticed that swimming in the ocean stops mosquito bites from itching which is dues to osmosis -- the bumps go down. The itching started again after I dried off but maybe if you catch the bite early enough and stay in the water a long time you can avoid the itching entirely because you stop the skin damage. Flea bites might also be treated by the same two approaches but I have fortunately not had a flea bite since I visited someone who lived in a house by the beach that used to have a dog living there -- fleas are another level of itch above mosquitoes. I wonder about chiggers which are supposed to be just terrible.

I blow dry my eczema rash outbreaks on my skin like top of my hands and forearms and it feels so good when the high heat burns this nasty rash off my skin. It starts to penetrate the deep layer of the skin rash and turns liquid before drying it up disintegrating the eczema into thin air. After what is left is a normal patch of skin eczema free no red irritating rash or mutulated skin look. In a few days its completely healed and looks non existent as if nothing was ever there. Now to effectively get this result you have to break your pain barrier and keep the blow dryer at some point over the eczema rash area for a prolonged time until you see it literally killing it and wilting it away and drying it out of your skin. You can do a little everyday over the same rash and eventually you'll dry it out but say you have a public engagement or date to go on the next day, then putting the hours into it with one session until you've obliterated the nasty rash , works best
