I appreciate this video. The pull tab was a great help. I found out that the connector cable connection had melted where it connects into the blower motor. Probably caused by the corrosion on the resistor if I had to guess.

Thank you so much for this information. Was spot-on exactly what I had to do. I did have to go out and buy a 7/32. Also mine had four screws in the cover. Again, thank you sir!

Great Video , right to the point , helped me out bigtime , especially with the tab part and reinstalling the plastic bracket. I took it out and didn’t remember how to reinstall it , but your video is very clear . I will definitely subscribe, thanks 🙏🏻 plus the resistor trouble shooting tips were great, hopefully i don’t have to replace the resistor , i so i ll reach out to you if there’s a video or instructions.Once again thank you for your video !!!

This is a great clip, I used this clip to changed my 2013 Silverado Blower motor. FYI I brought one from autozone didn’t like it. Went to pep boys brought and works great. Remember when installing the new blower motor. The exhaust is different on the new blower motors. You need to make sure you put a plug in the existing hole in the truck since the new blower motors have the exhaust built in. Also it’s best to replace the AC resistor at the same time since it’s located next to the blower motor.

Good time to cut out the cabin air filter opening & install a filter. That’s located next to the resistor too. GM was cheap on this generation, & just left the filter opening sealed from the factory.

Definitley an easy install. I noticed on the blower motor you put in that there was a spring/clip on one of the blades of the cage. Mine had the same thing. (GM part). It was loose so I took it off. Any idea what that was for?

The piece with the 2 - 7/32 screws that comes off. How do u replace it with new motor? The new motor doesn’t have a hole on side that needs to be covered with that piece. Just leave it off?

Thanks for sharing this. However, my fan goes off and on with wire movement near the connector harness and when it’s working the wire get very hot to the touch. Could this be the wires or the fan? Is this a potential hazard? Thanks!

@@CarlosMorales-se1um it needs to go back on, it helps the air flow to make it cold through the vents

Hi, my AC fan works well, but sometimes when I'm traveling, after three hours, the fan works very slow, I can barely feel the air, even in max level, should I replace first the resistor or the blower motor? Once I shut down the AC few minutes, it works again.
@showmemechanics

I have a 2012 Silverado and when I turn my fan on a setting higher than the second setting I start hearing some squeaking. It sounds like a belt but I’m assuming the only thing it can be is the blower motor. The noise is definitely coming from behind the dash and not the engine. The noise really seems to be coming from behind the radio but that may just be my ears playing tricks on me. Do u think that sounds like a blower motor or something else. Like a blend door or something. Any input will be much appreciated. Ty.
@showmemechanics
@showmemechanics Год назад
It's hard to tell without being there. You can pull out the blower motor and operate it to see if it is squeaky, make sure to hold it in your hand, don't just set it down and turn on lol, It won't hurt anything. Usually door's don't make any noises unless there moving, but to a selected position. Let me know what happens.

what if my blower doesn't work at all? is this a resister problem or the blower?
@ricksmash8080
@ricksmash8080 5 месяцев назад
Might be both. The resistor is cheaper so maybe try that first, but they’re both super easy to replace.
@ctlandscapemaintenancesolu494
how do you know which one is bad or goood
@showmemechanics
@showmemechanics Год назад
If you have a volt meter, set it to DC. Turn the blower on at any speed, and test the blower wire for 12v (red wire) to ground. If voltage is there it's your blower, if no power, you unplug the resistor, you can test each wire for 12v to ground for each speed you turn it to. You'll have one already hot, low will put 12v on a wire, medium will put 12v on a different wire and so on. Any more questions feel free to ask. If you need a diagram, just email me.
