Part 2 of ‪@mobrockets‬ rocket launches in a glorious open spot of the Arizona desert I call "The Blowing Dust Area." (This name coming from the yellow highway warning signs in the area stating BLOWING DUST AREA. I know - cleverness is one of my strong suits.) Launching low and mid-power rockets on a mid-May morning while the sun is bright in the sky and the air is cool and nearly still. Filming with a Canon EOS, GoPro and iPhone 14. Just an absolute wonderful day of flying, recovering, celebrating and enjoying good flights...

Mind boggling find of the Goblin! I couldn't leave it there lol. And yeah, I run my kevlar to about 1 inch below the top of the tube and then thick elastic for another couple feet to be safe. I've been applying thin ca to the top 2 inches inside the tube and sand it for a solid finish to strengthen the top of the tube and avoid zippers.

Sorry about the Doorknob! That is your version of my Citation Patriot. Crashes every time. 😢. I chuckled when you showed pics from your last crash and you did it was “utterly destroyed”. Just looked like a regular landing for me. LOL Wow!! Finding the Goblin from 3 years ago!!!! And SOOO close! Leaving it there now to rest seems very appropriate! I’ll bet you could get a lot more than a 12” chute in the Super Alpha. Great video!!!

I will post a more detailed video shortly of finding that Goblin! That was awesome. Every time I launch at this spot I wonder about that thing. Wonder no more!! 😂🚀

Looks like your Doorknob reached the end of its Kevlar at high velocity, which ultimately may have caused the break of the nose cone attachment point. So, longer Kevlar or add some elastic in the system. You did not find your altimeter?? That's a very peaceful launch site when you are there on your own. It's great for flying highfliers!!

Good ideas! Nope: never found the altimeter. On my way out I roamed the site for another 30-40 minutes. A proverbial needle in a haystack….

The dish reminds me of an early version of the AT&T Long Lines microwave relay network

That’s probably more along the lines of what it really is. My description was given in the spirit of launching lethal projectiles into outer space 🪐 🚀😂

@@mobrockets That's the goal, right? Punching holes into the sky?

Try turning off the auto focus on the cam. If you set focus to infinity, can focus better in the blue sky but harder to focus on less than 10ft.

Weird that when there are clouds in the sky the focus works great. No clouds, no focus…. I’ll for sure try turning off the auto focus…
