A video journal of my rocketeering exploits. I do not actively promote this channel, choosing instead to enjoy those that find this thing organically. And by "organically" I mean folks who enjoy watching model rocketry videos finding @mobrockets because they do. Thank you for watching!
@@RobsRocketTimes Yes, making these videos really reveals rod whip! I’ve started upgrading launch lugs on my builds to the next size up as an attempt to mitigate that!
@@mobrockets I sand and polish the launch rod and always plan the lugs well. Messy if over used is also a tiny , tiny bit of graphite powder inside the launch lug. These are old school methods and help with rod whip. Rod whip is only caused by drag on the launch lug.
Great day at the races! Interestingly, I watch all of Kevin's videos and don't recall seeing one with three distinct races of these little MaxQ rockets. I'll have to go back and find it.
Mosquito: Apparently flying with the Falcon 9 landing software installed! Great landing! It probably saw the coyote droppings and said “Ain’t no way I’m tipping over into that!” And I’m sure Keith appreciates you flying “Model Rockets 321” on the altimeter. Nice touch! Nothing beats a good ‘ol Alpha flight of any size! Given between a snagged shock cord or parachute, I’d go with the shock cord. No biggie! Looks like a fun place to fly!
Hey buddy can you please at some time convinient get some video of the yellow jacket in the air please ? Love that model Great vid thabks for sharing !!
Looked like a great time! Looking forward to launching in early October- should be cooler there then, eh/ It was last year. Do enjoy the videos. Cheers from Oklahoma! btw- Is this in Marana?
At NARAM yesterday, I watched someone who successfully launched and recovered his So Long on F15/F15. He said he didn't expect to get it back but landed near the launch pads. It's possible.
Ever try depowering it? Use adapters plugs to use a d 12-0 and a C11-3? I bet you would still get high results and better recoveries. Might be a more fun launch race in the end?
@@RobsRocketTimes Great idea! I’ve been stuck on the only lower power option was using 29mm E motors… I just got some 24mm to 29mm adapters… I am going to do that! But only to prep for that F motor flight! 😂
You both are cool, wish I was closer. I got no one here in Michigan to launch with actually. I got all the supplies, just no desire to do it by myself. Sad thing Is i even got camera's and extra equipment for launches. I also want to add that I am aware of the many so long launches you both have done. And even with all of you guys open spaces they still get lost. I guess Estes really gave you bros the challenge and thus the name so long. I love the challenge and the video's too. These things must be real beasts.
@@RobsRocketTimes Interesting… my favorite type of launching is solo. I always worry about the others launching with me more than I do myself. I launch with our club and once in a while with others and enjoy it all. But solo launching is at my own pace, launching what I want, when I want, setting up my camera shots, not worrying about holding others up or being self conscious about what I say. That said, I cannot recall a more enjoyable day of launching than this one with Keith. Because he also gets it.
Cool idea. Like most things, the preparation for an event is always critically important and frequently the difference between success and better success. Fun to watch too.
Fun launches. I have two of those kits I haven’t built yet. Gave up on the mosquito- never can see that sucker. Hey you need to do “MINI DRAG” with MR-321. And if ya lose these - can send Keith out to look for it. He may have been one return in a bag. Thanks for the vids. C
@@xo6910 Interesting, I didn’t notice the sky, really, until we launched the So Longs. Looking up as they hit the sky I recall thinking “we’ll NEVER see these things against that!”
You guys should get Chris in as number three and maybe Kevin as number four if they’re up for it and launch at the spot Chris uses. Have a friendly little AZ RU-vid crew shoot out!
@@JuanM759 Kevin is in the Phoenix area now so a triple flight is already in the works. But that spot Chris flies is epic. A quad flight there would be awesome!
Good video and nice to see another perspective of that drag race. Your rocket had a momentary handicap on launch due to having the F engine over Keith's E engine. I suggest Very Long metallic streamers for those rockets and a spotter or two with binoculars like we used as kids in the 70s. Post videos of the other rockets you launched that day!! :)
Good video of Keith’s tumbling down. Bummer that yours didn’t turn up, but if any lessons were learned by your Goblin, then we all know that it will turn up when you least expect it. Great little spoof at the end. Keith was a great actor!!! LOL
