Are you wanting to know what blowing out human skin looks like?
In this video we will be diving into the depths of blowouts and I will be demonstrating what blowing out human skin looks like.
We will take a good close up look at what it looks like to blowout human skin. The purpose of this video is to educate those whom are doing tattoos what a blowout is and to also educate those whom are wanting to get tattoos, so you can be aware of what a blowout is.
A blowout is when the ink is injected into the hypodermis which is the bottom layer of the skin. In the hypedermis layer the ink will spread under the line making the tattoo look bruised, damaged, possibly scarred when healed.
Blowouts can be avoided by practicing on fake skin. Through fake skin we can develop our skillsets prior to ever tattooing on human skin. I would highly recommend to invest into fake skin before you tattoo human skin.

Yeah when you go deep like that it is almost like your cutting the skin...OH AND IT HURTS. If your victim (um, client) starts to up and twitch and you aren't transitioning to skin over a bone, you may be going a tad deep (too deep). Sad thing about blowouts, is that it is difficult to see them especially if you have been tattooing all day and you are tired and your eyes are tired. When you really see it is when you look at it after it has healed and it is a dry wound (not healed but not wet and lymphy). So if you see a bunch and you know your customer, that is the time to tell the guy to come in and let you fix a 'couple of spots' or even offer them a color (highlight white, post tattoo, on any tattoo, is always a great way to clean up lines, make the customer feel like you are being a pro about CYA. If my car tire guy put three white wall tires facing out and one facing in and neither of us noticed when dobe, isnt it right that whoever notices it first, it needs to be fixed. Mistakes are made, sad. Fixing mistakes humbly and graciously can gain you a long time customer, or at least someone if they dont come back to you has a good story about how you were an honest and standup kind orf guy.

So on my journey I refuse to tattoo another human before myself. And I refuse to tattoo myself before I am confident enough with the fake skin, and to that have a professional critique that work I've put in. Keep the content coming, just don't put yourself through this ever again. I think this is a video to show dedication to the art and to the knowledge that needs to be out there for new and beginner artists/tattooists.

Hey man . Great videos . I'm covered in ink but have started watching you to learn ... My question is are the blowouts caused by your needle too deep or going too slow ? I'm guessing the too deep is a given but can it be caused by moving too slowly as well ???? Also if you notice blowouts do you adjust your needle hang or just use less pressure . The last video of yours I watched said to not ride the tube which seems safer after you get the correct depth ... Thanks again man . Awesome videos !!!!!

hey, i’ve got a question! im a self taught tattoo artist and i always wondered what makes the ink create those little lightning-shaped leaks under the skin? i’m pretty sure i’m not blowing it out, when i reduce the depth it seems to be over the dermis :( thank you for your videos, you’re the best!
@585demon7
@585demon7 2 года назад
If you go over it to many times it tends to happen someone said ^^^^
@DanielYuck
@DanielYuck Год назад
This is a good one! If we are thinking about the same lightning shaped line leaks they aren't necessarily from the blow out or going too deep. They occur when the ink flows through the superficial layers of the skin. If I am correct they are technically on the top layer of the skin and often wipe away as seen in this video. Thank you for your time, support and kind feedback! I appreciate you.

Wow sacrificing your skin for educational purposes,and on the part of the body where it hurts other than some areas,RESPECT,and for the depth your 1007rl penetrates i know it hurts like hell,thank you so much Sensei,as you've said it can happen to the best of artist,the solution is simple though,focus,as most of the hardcore fans knows where the dermis is from your older videos,focus on where that sweet spot is and let your muscle memory do the rest,some might not agree but always tattoo yourself first before you tattoo other people cause blowouts on small dainty tattoos is unfixable xcpt for laser rem or coverups,

@DanielYuck 2 года назад
Thank you for your kind feedback Psykotik Neher! I appreciate you. This absolutely hurt 110%! It was actually far worse than I imagined. Yea blowouts can be a tricky aspect of tattooing especially if we go into tattoos afraid of blow outs. If all we focus on is NOT blowing out we just may end up blowing someone out. As opposed to establish a familiarity with where the ink should go so we don't have to guess, wing a tattoo, or be terrified of blowouts. D

Any tips on how to tattoo thin skin like feet? I’ve been practicing on the inner sides of my feet but I keep running into problems like blowouts and some ink not holding. I’ve only just started out and your videos help out a lot, so a big thank you for your great work!
@DanielYuck
@DanielYuck 2 года назад
Thank you for your time and support! I appreciate you. It really all depends on the persons skin in that area, which I think would vary from person to person. Instead of focusing on the foot aspect and thinner skin, I would focus on finding the correct depth in that area. Once I’m familiar with the depth of that area I would begin to work a tattoo. I think it’s more about understanding where the ink lives on thinner and thicker skin. Once we find those depths where the ink goes it’s a lot easier to hit the marks. I made another video talking about how to find the dermis and needle depth that I will link for you below. @DanielYuck
@DanielYuck Год назад
This is a great question! The artist in me wants to say there is always a way to improve a tattoo but in reality sometimes we have to really look at a tattoo to be able to actually say for certain. Many factors such as colors, saturation on current tattoo, size, placements, what you would want over the current tattoo. With that being said I do feel like there are very capable and talented artist out there that can do amazing cover ups. I feel it is possible we would just have to really take our time and research artist that have the capabilities and portfolios to match what it is you are looking for. People can surely tattoo but all at different levels. A variable I want to consider when looking for a tattoo artist is artistic capabilities, tattooing style, technical execution and professionalism.

What am i doing my wrong if my tattoos are bleeding a lot. Am i going to deep or will it bleed harder when i dont get deep enough?
@DanielYuck
@DanielYuck Год назад
This is a very very hard question to answer. 1 would have to actually see the tattoo and how you applied it to determine if the application is wrong. I have experienced people bleeding especially on line dominate tattoos but it has never been something that raised an alarm to me. I have not experienced a crazy amount of blood. Each line will bleed a bit possibly but it should stop within minutes and not continued to bleed for long periods of time. Again it is super hard to say and for that U apologize.

It depends on what you are looking for from your setup. Think about what style of tattooing you want to do. If you don't know start with learning lining and shading after you have got lining down. I would say the cnc Q2 is a great place to start. That is where I started and I still love this machine today. CNC Q2 www.cnctattoo.com/shop/cnc-q2-tattoo-pen-machine-terminator/?ref=10

So basically your needle depth is what leads to blowouts? Also thanks for dedicating your skin to help fellow tattooers
@DanielYuck
@DanielYuck 2 года назад
You're welcome DREWSKI! I appreciate you, your time and support! Needle depth can be 1 of many causes of a blowout. Needle depth, bad angles, lack of experience, too much pressure, moving too slow, voltage too high, going over lines too many times, are some reasons that come to my mind. Should you have any further questions feel free to drop it in the comment section below.

I learned you can also blow out being left handed watching right handed artists. I ended up mirroring you guys and caught on when I went back to fake skin/bananas and watching more artists and I went, “ fuck I’m mirroring. I can see I pushed where they were dragging.” So the design was good, but because I pushed from following righties I blew out a crown I put on my leg. Lessons learned. I actually came online to see if I could find any left handed artists to follow… anyone? Suggestions? Your blowout video caught my eye mid convo with my wife which made that shih’ awkward. I see you were struggling to put a true blow out in. You know your Needle depth too well. However I bet that voltage and hand speed was painful.

Is this because your hand is not going as fast as the speed of the needle??
@DanielYuck
@DanielYuck Год назад
That is a great question! I would say that could for sure be a factor at play. I feel that it could be a combination of things such as the hand speed and voltage not aligned, it could be the angle, the pressure used to apply. This will vary from person to person but the issue is typically one of these and more I may not have listed. For this demonstration I used too much pressure and went too slow to demonstrate what that kind of looks like. The only line that does not have a textured raised feel to it is the line to the far right.

I have heard people mention that as well. Maybe it has something to do with pain tolerances. I haven't really seen any consistent answers for pain spots as this has varied for everyone. It is kind of fascinating how pain in interpreted.

After looking at this video I stared at all my tattoos and yup most have hecka blow outs. I got them done at a shop and the ones i got done at someones crib arent really that bad compared to the ones done at a shop. I expected better quality tats from an actual shop but no. People tend to talk shit about getting tats done at people houses or that they're not real tattoos artists but you gotta start somewhere right? I'm thinking about tattooing myself and I've been practicing and these videos you do help me out so much man. Your a fucking life saver. The dos and don't help a lot and I appreciate you for putting your skin under the needle and posting your work on here.

Blowing up it will gonna stay on the skin forever?
@DanielYuck
@DanielYuck Год назад
That is correct! When blowing out we are hitting layers of the skin where the ink can even bleed so much where the tattoo will look like it is bruised forever. When it is not bruised, it is in fact blown out. Ink can do some gnarly stuff when applied technically incorrect.

Depth is the one thing I seem to be struggling with on myself so hard. I'm either blowing out or not going deep enough on myself. When I ink someone/something else I hit perfect depth every time. I think I've just got a stupidly thin dermis and need to really dial in my hand pressure.

That is so unfortunate. I also knew someone who had a tattoo on their arm and it had a bruised look to it. I have seen several tattoos with improper execution now that I think about it. Everyone starts somewhere and sometimes that starting point is unfortunately human skin.

I have a rather large tattoo 20 cm high and 15 cm wide, the whole tattoo is made this way. Much deeper than you show here, One crazy tattooist tattooed me, and I had drunk far too much beer, then according to Norwegian law you shouldn't tattoo anyone. I went back the next day and demanded double what I had paid. Afterwards I razed his studio, smashed his machines with a hammer and went home. But I didn't get rid of the tattoo, it has been there for 46 years. But it made me start an apprenticeship as a tattoo artist myself, in 1979 - 80 I was fully trained (you never get that 😄) and opened my own studio. It is very dangerous to destroy skin and vandalize a customer's skin and appearance.

I got a Tattoo of a heartagram at Jade Dragon Tattoo in Branson Missouri and the male Tattooist did it very deep and the entire tattoo is very blead-out blurry and ebeed up cracking in several spots. I put aquaphor on it and still got cracks and a blurry tattoo. The shop claimed it was improper care of the skin. No fault of their own. At the time i had no clue and just went along with it. But now I've started tatting up several sleeves i now know it was incorrect depth and far to many passes and packing of the black ink.

Thanks for the video! I was expecting you to do like 1 line but you just kept going. LOL. What stroke was the machine you use and do you think that correlates to how easy it is to get a blow out? Also, thighs tend to have a bit more meat on them then say a hand, do you think that also makes a difference for how easy it is to blow out a line? Also, did you post what it looks like healed? Im curious.
