Are you wanting to learn more about needle depth on human skin?
In this video we will all dive into Needle Depth On Human Skin. We will dive into what to look and listen for and more in between. Not only will we be taking up close looks together, I also recorded HIGH QUALITY audio so you can get a very good idea of what is sounds like when the needle hits the dermis.
I wont sit here and tell you you go this many mm deep right here, or you go this mm deep right here. I am going to give you some tools you can practice so you become fully comfortable with finding the dermis.
There are some variables I am considering upon inputting ink into human skin. I am listening for that sizzle which indicates the skin has been broken by the needle tip, I am feeling for the resistance the skin provides upon pulling lines, and I am watching the needle tip with my eyes.
These variables are shown time and time again in this video. You can see the needle tip, you can hear the sizzle, and you can watch my movements.
Another VERY IMPORTANT variable to consider is the pull on the skin. We have to get that nice pull and stretch the skin as well to be able to get that needle into the dermis. 1 last important thing to remember upon tattooing in general is to always be confident in your abilities and work!
I used the CNC WE Plus for this tattoo along with a Quelle 10-11RL. The WE Plus worked wonderfully and pulled lines with ease! I will leave the link below so you can check out the WE Plus on your end.

Tip for anyone new to tattooing: always dap or dap and press so you don’t mess up or wipe away the stencil, jst like how he does it 👍🏻 love these vids, I like to see other artists who are friendly and open to teaching!

@@anonymousprepper1463 yeah that happens to me sometimes, I jst try to wipe away as much as possible without irritating the tatt, but it’ll probly only come off after the client washes it a couple of times, it jst sucks for when we want to take pictures of the progress! but it is what it is haha also, a cool trick I learned from an OG, if the tattoo ends up red or “inflamed” wipe some witch hazel on it and it calms the skin down, it’s especially good for clients who swell up before u can take a good picture 👍🏻

@@nekomantix598 Yeah i did my inner bicep and couldn't quite stretch it properly... plus i think was moving way to quickly at 9v. lines looked choppy so I ran over a second time. she's rather puffy. I will have to try this. no plans for any customers, as I don't have the time nor funds for apprenticeship. and thinking i need to get practice back up on my line work and speed on the fake skin.

I appreciate the support and feedback Niro! I agree, 1 thing that I experience time and time again is that the depth can and does change especially on different areas. I think some prime examples are wrapping around the arm or leg, maybe the top of the hand and foot, honestly anywhere when I think about it haha. How is your tattooing journey going as of today?

Having to deal with the pain while pulling the lines or shading and on top of that having to talk to demonstrate points was a real challenge for me, so I can fully relate to you. I like how you added the still photo of the needle depth. just a suggestion, if u can put a marking next Time on a video to to give a visual indication of how much of the needle goes into the skin.. a lot of people of visual learners in that sense or maybe I'll just speak for myself but either way great video. Everything explained easily

Ooo that is a great question! What type of tattoos will you be doing? I think it all depends on what you want from your setup! Are you wanting an easier setup and break down? Do you want to go with pen style tattoo machines or coil machines?

I was always told to go about 2mm deep or the thickness of a nickel. Your needle depth looks to be much less, but awesome lines.

Thank you so much for this video. I am really grateful for the time you put into these. One thing I would like to more about in depth is over working the skin - I am very worried to take more than one pass on a line, or overwork too much when trying to saturate colors - I guess my question is how do you know when to stop or hold off?
@simonkristiansen960
@simonkristiansen960 2 года назад
a maximum of 2 passes, if you are not getting a pretty line or it wont go in by that, i wouldnt touch that "line" again before it's healed up.
@Lumpdadabubub
@Lumpdadabubub 2 года назад
You can go over it more than 2 it depends on your machine if it’s harder or softer

You're welcome! Thank you for your support and feedback. That my friend is a great subject! I can make a video touching base on this specific topic as I feel others would gain from as well. In a nutshell I feel it comes down to experience and knowing what to look for. There is a term I have heard time and time again which is "reading the skin" and that skill of knowing how to read the skin has come naturally. Over working the skin is something that will happen as we are applying the tattoo so we can see the trauma if any happening prior to overworking. If we aren't paying attention to the specific persons skin we are tattooing we will be more prone to over working the skin. Signs of over working is excessive bleeding, tugging on the skin with the needles will overwork and damage the skin, deep red around or on the tattoo site, texture on the skin, and the list goes on. These are all signs of potential overworking. Depending on the hand of the artist has will determine what type of issues that would arise I feel.
@DanielYuck
@DanielYuck 2 года назад
@@Lumpdadabubub I feel that is a good ball park, but with consideration on multiple variables. Such as the setup the artist is running, the expertise and experience, and more. Some can get by with more passes some with less, it is hard to say an exact number off the top because of the variables.
