Blowing Rock Preserve… no rocks to see 😬
Sand has washed up and buried the rocks at this time. This is a natural process but also a bummer as a first time visitor…
There a lot of sea turtle nests on the beach. They are marked off with stakes and red tape, so they aren’t inadvertently disturbed by beachgoers.
PARKING IS VERY LIMITED!
While this can be annoying, it limits the number of people on the beach at one time. This allows the visitors who do find parking, to enjoy the beach without being crowded; it also reduces the amount of foot traffic, overuse and possible bad behaviors. All parking spots were full during this video, so this is about as crowded as it should get….

Visitor Notice:
Many of the rocks on Blowing Rocks’ shoreline are not currently visible because they are buried by sand. Sand has been building up on our beach for the past few months. The Nature Conservancy did not add sand to the beach. Over time, waves will carry the sand back out to sea and the rocks will once again be visible. This is a natural process and we do not have a timeframe of how long this will take. This information will be updated as the shoreline changes.
The preserve was named for its rocky Anastasia limestone shoreline-the largest on the Atlantic coast. At high tide when the sea is rough, seas break against the rocks and force plumes of saltwater up to 50 feet skyward. It’s an impressive sight!
Hours, Parking and Admission
Blowing Rocks is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
NOTE: The preserve is closed on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
The preserve has free on-site parking during open hours. When the preserve closes at 4:30 p.m. the parking lot gates close and lock. Street parking is not permitted, per the Town of Jupiter Island Public Safety Department.
