Came here to say the same, sliding scale between both depending on situation/speed. Also those are the correct faces when riding passenger with someone cooking like that.
Well a Cayman GTS is definitely not an entry level Porsche at prices near to 60K EUR. The silver 986.1 Boxster S open-top they passed is! Can be gotten for as low as 15 000 - 25 000 EUR atm. Still has 260 hp, does 0-100 in 5.7s and 0-200 in 21.4s, topping out at 264km/h.

@@erickbaka drove that one for a couple of years, incredibly fun car. Then had a 997, wasn't as much fun tbh, not as a daily.
Great lap Misha! I’ve owned the 981 GTS for 4 years now, incredible car, the sound, the emotion, and it still looks like it rolled off the production line yesterday. A real everyday sports car that gives you smiles for days 🏁
Perfect example of how it doesn't take a bunch of power to be fast, balance is so important and being confident in the vehicle makes a huge difference, personally I prefer a car with less power this way you can push thru the corners with more confidence, I'm not afraid to get sideways but don't want to worry about spinning in corners.
Love it! I have a 981 Cayman S ... with GTS spec (all the extras, GTS front and rear bumper , basically the same minus 10hp) and love it... second one I've owned! Awesome video, would love Misha to drive mine with me in it!
Best Cayman ever made in my opinion. The 718 cayman 4.0 also so amazing but something special about a balance between usable power, ride quality and handling that I like so much about the 981. It’s just so well balanced.
I think the 981 sounds better than the new 4L engine. Passed on an allocation for new GTS after I bought a ‘14 Cayman S with PSE, PASM, LSD, 6MT-basically a 981GTS. Saved me about $60k.
Had a race yellow 981 GTS for 4 years and loved it. Replaced it with a new race yellow 718 GTS 4.0 . I love the extra power of the 4.0 but... the 981 with it's 3.4 engine felt better balanced in terms of power and handling especially on the road. I felt like I could use full power far more often on the road in the 981 than I can in my 718. The 981 GTS is a peach of a car particularly in PDK which suits the engine better then the manual. I think it's one of the best road sports cars Porsche has ever made, (obviously the GT4 and GT3's are better on track), but most of my driving is road trips to the Alps and Scotland etc and only 1 - 2 track days a year, so the GTS is a better fit for me.
Wow, great lap as usual!! The GTS seems like the perfect sports car with the power (340hp), handling and style...and it's not as harsh as the more capable GT4 for everyday use. I want one! 🤩
As usual the quiet Misha laps are hands down the best (do adore laps with banter as well though 😅) let's us really see the absolute focus and talent you've got. Massive Congrats on the N24 result btw! Real Shame it didn't all go as planned but it is what it is. Bring on next year! GT3 maybe 👀
@@Shinkaaaa What would be great is a 987 Boxster Spyder - probably interesting to see for most ppl how Porsche did reduce weight on everything: roof, seats, doors, ...
I don't know if you noticed but Misha actually had to slow down from 199km to 134km just to let him pass because he could tell he was a bit faster than the Porsche. Not saying the M4* isn't fast just pointing out this is proper driving etiquette on the ring 😁
I was just going to say the same, Misha tapped the brakes to let him by, but having an extra 150+ hp will do that too. I would still take the Porsche keys every day.
That was a "I swear that's not the car I came here with" type of reaction. Jose couldn't believe what was going on and that all of it was happening in his own car. 😅
You scared the crap out of that guy! That's a great affordable daily car, which will give you fun on a track too. Porsche are just such good all rounders, but then I'm biased!
I picked up a 2016 Cayman S in 2020 with 3800 miles on it optioned with The Sports Chrono Package, PASM and Factory Sport Exhaust System. Replaced the 20" wheels with 18" Apex Racing Wheels to soften the ride over stutter bumps and installed Softronic Engine Software which bumped horsepower to 360 so I essentially have a better car than a GTS for a lot less money. BTY book value on it has increased significantly since then.
you should place a few of your friends around your favorite corners with most action to film outside content of your drives, it would really add to your videos.
gts market has softened somewhat. I gambled on a 85k mile one for under 50k, previous owners had track camber and aggressive pads, x73 and ptv. drive feels special even raw compared to 991.2
It would also be nice to compare that against the Cayman 982 (Base or S) in terms of power and maneuverability. Especially if it's a manual transmission.
I'm so on the fence between a manual 981 S and a manual LCI n55 M2. I'm modifying either one i get so any inherent issues with either's performance would get addressed, but i cant decide if i want the cheaper m2 with more money left for mods or the flat 6
I need to get a Porsche before they all go turbo/ electric. You can tell the transmission is struggling at the end there. The shifts became kind of soggy lol.
You should tell the owners not to film with their phone because you have x cameras running anyway. Send them a good edited 10s vid and they can post that on their socials.
Interesting Fact Matt Armstrong tuned his Cayman GT Rep to a Stage 1 and it actually had more power over a Factory GT4 ! Looks effortlessly easy to drive ?
