I love those western states. One of the best mods I did was LRA fuel tank. 17 gallons out of the way and at the push of a button. Frustrating they do not LineX their tank from the factory. That was another $175 cost. Sure makes exploration a lot less stressful. I think my real range now is 450+.
I have a boon docking small campground in Lincoln county New Mexico in the capitan mountains seven thousand feet high over looking capitan in between sierra Blanca mountains and the capitan mountains. I think I have the best views around here.
Just wanted to drop a like and say thanks for coming to NM and making a great video. New Mexico has so much to offer outdoors. From Sonoran desert to 12k subalpine, it’s an incredible place…outside. The cities, well…different story. Anyways, thanks for showcasing the State.
When you were on the overlook now you can understand how Geronimo saw the Calvary Troops were coming days in advance! Beautiful country and history in southern N.M.. I grew up not far from the spot Pat Garrett was shot. A makeshift blob of concrete marks the area where the incident happened!
Your comments on sand in the bottom half of the hour glass is spot on. Its the reason Im starting a new business that I can do on the road plus investments and closing up my current business by the end of the year so I can travel and explore. Already have my rig planned out and places to go. Thank you to all the youtubers out there doing it already and inspiring myself and others. Love the vids. Keep them coming
Matt and Kara need to cut through NW Oklahoma, and the panhandle more often to inoculate themselves for the wind. Like the content, keep up the great work!
I know this state well was born and raised there. I grew up in the Jemez mountains. West of Los Alamos. There used to be a road from Magdalena to the Colorado near wolf Creek. It only crossed the pavement three places. I love to be out in the woods it's my favorite place to be. In the Jemez there is so much to see but you have to be on pavement to get between dirt roads. Thank you for the revisit to my home state. I have long since moved to Minnesota. Thanks for the great video. And the time you took to place up on utube
Amen on the hourglass comment. Im a few grains over halfway, and you guys are influencing me to make the last half of my dash a lot better. Thanks! Need to find that Luke Combs song and give it a listen. Love Luke!
Epic! We call those land mines "prairie pastries". LOL! We often camp on our property here in MD (and we have horses)...so we call them here at home pasture pastries, meadow muffins and trail biscuits...whole bakery up in here! Thanks for sharing your trip with us! Teresa (& Mark) Hampstead, MD
Great video buddy! Love how you captured the last two days of this adventure! I'll never forget those views, the wind and just how close we came to running out of fuel!
Glad to see the Guadalupes get some! I have grown up hunting and camping in the Guadalupes, and believe they are way underrated as a destination. Hope y’all come back! And if y’all need anything while in the area, I’d be glad to help out.
Great video! Great area! I’ve been wanting to explore those trails as that is some of the closest forest roads in the West to where we live. What you said about the hour glass really resonates with me. I work a 8-5 desk job that just sucks the life out of me sometimes. I feel like I’m just wasting away my body, my health, and my livelihood just to make a “living”. When in reality this is not living. And what I’m seeing from this video is not to underestimate the distance from fuel in that area.
Love the channel guys! I was going to let you know that you should explore the Gila National Forest off near Snow lake. Good hunting area for elk and deer. I usually stayed at Wolf Hollow camp ground off road 61 by beaver head ranger station. It's a beautiful area and you can make it as hard of driving that you want! The drive from that camp ground to the lake is beautiful! 👍
In response to your hour-glass analogy, there is a song called “Don’t let the old man in”, by Toby Keith. Keep adventuring and don’t let the old man in!!
I totally understand what you were going through, I have lived in New Mexico for over 40 years. I am currently preparing to build my 1985 3/4 ton 4x4 suburban into an overlander and watching many of your videos as well as many others for ideas on how and what to do and not to do.
Good video as always. Rear end sounds like it has a bit of a howl on the highway again. If it's eating gears again. Makes me think the housing may be bent.
Im going to guess this was in the past couple few weeks........snow......wind......cold......rain.......repeat. I was out in Brads hood in Anza-Borrego and got the same stuff. Borrego Springs got blasted ! This year is the winter that just won't quit. Pux. Phil was right I guess..... 6 more weeks. All in all.......weather what it was..... I had a great 5 weeks of winter wandering and a cool Sedona AZ snowstorm. NM is just a stones throw below me from Colorado. Plan on more visits there this year. Be Safe !
Love the video, your analogy with the bottom half of the hour glass is spot on also I still can't stop laughing about the cow, " you don't know how the cow identifies"? LOL that was great. Keep up the great work, hope to see y'all on the trails up in the Ozarks.
Nice video guys. Miss the NM forest off-roading, but much better weather in the fall. Beautiful place regardless. Almost ran out of gas and barely made it to town when out there and wife still brings it up 15 years later.
My husband and I saw this video and thought, oh no, you guys came at the wrong time of the year. Come back in August/September it's not windy like you just experienced. We live in Alto NM in Lincoln County and there are more back roads to explore. We would love to have you camp a night with our view if you don't mind chickens.
I’m pretty sure we crossed paths twice in the last two days. Once this Friday on my way home from work. I was driving the black trd pro with a bed rack. Again today, I was grabbing my bag out of my truck after running the LR half. You passed me on your onewheel before I recognized you. Anywho, love the channel an how you represent AR!
If you would have followed the cottonwood trail down from that lookout tower, you would have found Cottonwood Cave. It’s an awesome cave that takes about an hour to explore.
I just moved to New Mexico like 6 months ago. Been trying to get out and explore but the weather has been meh. I was out in Ruidoso and Cloudcroft around Bluff Springs at the end of February and it was beautiful but unfortunately still snowy, cold, windy but the views were amazing. Then went down around Carlsbad to escape the cold and wind. Do you mind sharing your routes so I can check it out when the weather warms up a bit? Thank you! Love the channel!
Hey man when ya'll might be coming back out this way? I live in El paso , I'm currently waiting on my engine to be built so don't come back within 3 months lol
Great video as always Matt… But I noticed that squeak in your suspension… my Lexus GX 470 is doing the same thing… any guess as to what it is, or do you know what it is? Thanks for an awesome video as always!!
I have noticed there is a lot of squeaking on your rig, did you bend a link? Sorry for being forward on this, but my JTR is quiet compared to yours and I'm concerned as you might have a breakdown issue.
I lubed everything when I got home. Didn't fix it. All that noise was coming from a dirty sway bar link. A little WD40 cleaned it right up and now it's quiet again.
Great video, I really enjoyed it. Odd question if you mind me asking where did you get the topo wedding band? I really like it and would like to have one.
How do you affix your patches on your headliner? Are those patches or stickers? I want to do somehting like that with my 2021 Rubicon Diesel. Thank yoU!
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I figured you would have it all worked out... it was just humorus to me as I have heard it before on the trail. You guys looked like you had a ball !! One day, me and my sidekick will make it out that way. Terry and Tonia aka TNT
