Only she couldn't fully keep up. If you watch the tribute she did for him where she danced HIS part she couldn't make one quick af turn he did so they just acted like it wasn't there, lol. It always made me feel better that even she couldn't match him because you are right, she's the closest that could. We have dancers that grew up on MJ and there's a rare few who actually get it. The moonwalk is the most overused and WRONG move people try to emulate. You're not *just* sliding backwards. You're doing it while making it look like you're moving forward. Such a tiny detail is what made him great. He knew when to borrow moves and make them his own. He was a forever student of dance.
@@rowanmayfair9249 Well, she did{nt dance HIS part. She danced THEIR part. You need to keep in mind that the tribute was in 2009...16 years later than the original. Janet was 30 when the video came out. In the tribute she was 44.
@@rowanmayfair9249whaaaat if you look at the whole performance of that tribute she was on 🔥🔥🔥 like always even in her 40s the only reason because the shoes were slippery and all the choreographers said that it was
U wouldve thought these two had sing more songs together... i remember when they debut this video... it was legendary... R. I. P. 💔MJ... 15yrs ago we lost the 🐐
These two should have done more duets together. What a fire song still to this day. The growling vocals and intense moves and the black and white video was everything for me. Not to mention these two being siblings and that they are just the most amazing talents to ever bless our ears and eyes. What cool people! No proof to say otherwise. Right
One of the most expensive videos ever made. He was dealing with a lot of negative press at the time. I remember some gossip going around saying that Michael Jackson and Janet were the same person lol. They were on the music awards show together, which was rare because they never released music at the same time and MJ said something a long the lines of "See! We are two different people!" 😂
I saw both of them live in concert and the dancing was an experience!! Her documentary touches on filming this video and it totally surprised me that she wasn't allowed near him much
I am old enough to remember when this duet was released back in 1995 I was 15 and finishing my freshman year of high school, and it was absolute fire, and it still is today nearly 3 decades later! The contribution that the Jackson family has made to music can not be overstated in my opinion. I just saw Janet in concert in my home city (Philadelphia) and she performed this song along side of him, and I was completely blown away!! We are so blessed to still have Janet (who I personally consider to be the Queen of Pop) with us, and while her big brother may be physically gone what created for all of us is eternal, RIP Michael! LONG LIVE THE KING 👑 🔥
Interesting thing about this song overall. This was the first MJ song where he actually had profanity in it and this video was the most expensive video of all time at the time.
I was watching the Janet Jackson documentary on Hulu and she revealed that she was not in the video with Michael at all. She did her part first and the set was closed when Michael did his part. Although, they were able to work together on the lyrics.
I saw that documentary as well, but I'm not quite sure what Janet was talking about really. There is actual video footage of them being on the "Scream" set together.
@@JoanRudithThey actually were in the studio together. After hearing Michael do his part first, Janet decided to record her part later so she could bring her A game. They also did film the video together, but some parts were separate. She was hoping to spend more time with him on set, like when they were young, but it didn't happen.
I remember when this premiered on tv, it was event television. Me and my sister got ready with the video machine to tape it and watched it like ten times 😂 These effects were super slick and cutting edge at the time, cost an absolute bomb! ❤
I remember when this came out. I was still in high school and one of the only black kids that was heavily into sci fi and anime. So I really appreciated Mike and Janet having those genres in the video. Also the HIStory album goes hard. MJ wasn’t playing when he wrote the lyrics for this album
I remember her saying that she wasn’t able to be around him on the video set, they wouldn’t talk to each other or anything, and she didn’t understand what was going on, she said it was like people were trying to put them against each other
Janet's wardrobe in this video recently sold at auction. Each piece she wore was auctioned separately totaling several hundred thousand dollars by the end of the auction.
i believe at the time this was released and for many years after ; this was one of THE ; if not THE most expensive music video ever recorded; the stuff mike destroys in the video was worth hundreds of thousands, the guitars alone have insane value
Best pep rally in my high school career. The drill team captains did a routine to this song. Amazing! Everyone was in a roar! They did like three different kinds of dance to it too!
Got warped back to Primary School best Childhood when Music were still music Sadly this time Michael Jackson was going through the most with his Lable and Legacy media trying to destroy his Legacy
The second song actually, first song was Who Is It on the Dangerous Album When he said in the second chorus "And she didnt leave a letter, she just f'n went away
Please check out “you are not alone” by Michael with Lisa Marie!! it was entered into the Guinness world records as being the first single to ever debut on the billboard hot 100!
Michael was in production of his album so he left Janet in charge of the music and video production of the song, "Scream." Janet had brought her long time collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to help her produce the song as a demo to present to Michael which he liked and wrote his own part. For the video, they used Janet's choreographer of almost 2 decades Tina Landon to choreograph the breakdown
Janet was never in charge of the music and the video. She doesn't produce videos. Also, MJs choreographers Lavelle Smith and Travis Payne also helped create the choreography
