I remember when the first super hornet (E1) showed up at NAS PAX, then the others followed and off to the races we tested and tested, nice to see what I spend lots of years and time changing color from gray to blue.
Went to El Centro to see the new jets this year. Boss and I think #4 had to make an midshow landing. #1 ladder had come loose. Down they land, maint team comes shooting across the field and fixes the prob. #2&3 are circling the field. Boss and #4 take off over the hay bales. 3&4 join them when they are about 25' off the ground in the diamond. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen the blue Angels do. I missed it on video, Mike missed it. I have never seen it on video. If the LCDR was #4 on final Friday at EC you were a part of history. Ryan you have to go there. Thanks for sharing the story.
It's on my bucket list of things to do.... make it to El Centro and join you all at the bales. Always love seeing the daily videos coming from Mike and others.
I went through flight training with your dad, James, and we were stationed at North Island for our first duty stations. After that, we went our own ways, career wise. When you see him, please let him know that Jeff Wolf says hello and I'm still sorry I made him late on his very first day reporting to HC-1. I hope he's forgiven me! 🙂 Great job with the Blues and best of luck in NavAir!
Absolutely one of the better Blues video. As a former F4 Topgun graduate, I really appreciated your honesty about self doubts. It was a refreshing, honest, and very informative interview. Well done.
I chose to be a teacher. To work with and inspire young people by being an example they could respect. Always love the direct contact and being able to help kids learn.
Inspiring a Culture of Excellence and Service to Country!! Thank you, LCDR Cox, for your service. You, sir, were most definitely meant to be a Blue Angel!! Yet, another inspiring message out of the Blue Angels camp! Thank you, Ryan, for bringing it to us!
Unfortunately I'm working and can't see the Air show in Loveland this year. Luckily I work at a golf course that overlooks the same airport. I'll be watching in the sky from a far. It was pretty bad ass walking into work and seeing a couple super hornets on final approach. I haven't seen the blues in 20 years. I was nine when I saw them at Loveland airport, I'm 29 going on 30 this year. Hearing the roar of the jets brings me back in time. I still remember swimming in my neighbors pool with my buddies watching the blues practice formations over our subdivision. Memories that will never be forgotten.
What a terrific video. As a Navy “brat”, I grew up watching the Blues. Now that I live in Mobile, it’s so much fun to be able to see them all the time. I must say that “Tootsie” has been our fave in recent years and loved watching El Centro vids…he had the best landings! Looking forward to the base reopening to allow us back to practices. Hoping you have a long and satisfying career.
Since I was a little kid growing up in Delhi living closer to a fighter base, I would sit out all day and watch fighters practicing. I loved Blue Angels since I was a kid watching them on discovery. Somehow I ended coming to the US and joined the Navy as an AM. Left the navy to purse degree in engineering and every part of me would love to join as an officer and be a fighter pilot in the Navy because they are the best of the best.
THOSE Men and WOMEN are truly AWESOME... I remember when I was in truck 🚛 driving school and we were outside getting into the trucks and a jet flew overhead,we all looked UP AND I laughed and said... that's next on the list 😊😊
We recently Sir had your great team over the Windy City of Chicago, second time seeing you there, nothing short of inspirational. Yes, no matter what you do,always strive to be the very best version of yourself every day serving with a purpose. That was also taught to me by my former CEO, retired navy pilot and more importantly friend. Safe travels✈️
I live in Jamestown RI ( next island over from Newport RI) . I love when you guys show up for the quonset air show. Y'all fly right over my house. Fucking awesome.
After the 2020 season was canceled and they start doing the city flights with the Thunderbirds . The size difference between the f16 and the f18 most people don't realize. But there is a couple of seconds of smoke trails you can really see it in..
