This movie could've easily taken pointers from both the characters of Ted Kord and Jaime Reyes. Ted wasn't chosen by Khaji-Da because it didn't think he was worthy but while Jaime was chosen he was only being used by Khaji-Da as a vessel for The Reach's invasion cuz they ain't particularly good. The theme could've been "Heroes Aren't Born, They're Made". Ted Kord tried for years to merge with Khaji-Da but to no avail, he mentors Jaime who ended up being chosen and they bond more through Ted teaching him. The antagonist of the film is also Khaji-Da, it shows it true colours and takes over Jaime and that's when it is revealed that he was being used. Ted is in a final battle with Khaji-Da and using a code he made with the intent of merging with it himself, he uses it on the scarab, thus freeing Jaime. They continue to use the suit for good and it could've also set up The Reach for later movies. This idea is not Shakespeare but it's something imo.

My personal head canon is it was just biding its time till it got someone guilable enough it could repeat taking them over and not be shut down. Ted Kord and the villain both are too high a risk for it. Jamie on the other hand poor, limited resources and a family that apparently are not threat . . . yes perfect candidate found.

Besides everything that was pointed out in this video which I agree completely. The thing with the bug chosing him for "being pure of heart" let's say,is weird because is basically believing that an AI alien creature would ever have the same moral compass and perceptions about feelings, what's right & wrong etc. than humans, even when we might be incredibly primitive for them...

Hey guys, much luv From Ireland.. big fan of the channel..i always watch Ryans videos and then watch urs to see ur reaction, thanks for introducing me to Pitch Meeting in the first place....Ryan funny as always...i get the movie wasnt too original and went through the usual comic book movie tropes and the villians were not so good..For me though the family was the strength of the film, i loved all the family members.. it felt like a real family..i laughed throughout and when the father died i teared it up cause i felt the sons pain, im not a cryer but it was close for me and after the ending was sewn up i left the theatre smiling...it didnt matter to me that the rest was very generic as the core family dynamic i loved so much..To me it was a very good movie, its a pity u both didnt feel the same but at least u didnt hate it...Its also the best reviewed DCEU movie Since The Suicide Squad 2021 but General audiences are done with DC...Its just a waste of time even releasing these movies anymore..Will Aquaman 2 be shelved as a tax write off, who knows..

I feel like thats been one of the more recent issues with DC movies as of late. They all just play it waayyy too safe. Like EVERY movie feels like an amalgamation of EVERY other superhero movie I've EVER seen. Black Adam, Flash, Blue Beetle. There's barely any originality and it feels like they're afraid to take any risks with these stories. And to be honest, many of them wouldn't need to take risks if they had just followed the source material a lil more accurately. Its all there for you. I'd like to see Blue Beetle again, but they've gotta start doing a better job with these stories.

Well you see the only reason the Chronos Corporation couldn't use the Guyver unit is because they were all Zoinoids and the Guyver was designed to be usable only by humans, so when Sho got a hold of the Guyver he could use it because he was human, and that's why Jaime was the only one who could use the scarab.

i don't have super movie fatigue as much as i have copycat movie fatigue. so many origin stories are similar between heroes that they should just take the best individual comicbook stories about them and have them start right in the middle of the action. if they want to do some flashback scenes, that's fine, but the rest of the character's heritage can come out in their regular interactions.

Yeah, but if i want the "hispanic family thing" i guess i rather rewatch "Jane the virgin" or "Ugly Betty". I really love these shows because maybe there are these big overdramitic moments, but the drama never drags for long and is mostly already forgotten in the next episode.

Well yeah, Blue Beetle is if you want the Hispanic family thing but have a blue beetle hero suit guy be the focus of the movie. The drama to me fits with a general superhero origin story, it's the reason why the live action version of Sailor Moon is the best version. I LOVE THE HUMAN DRAMA WITH THE GOOFY SUPERHERO STUFF

10:18 That's where you're wrong buddy. If they not include these type of stuff into EVERY SINGLE MOVIE/TV they won't be permitted to have one. Just look at the recurring theme of Nowadays contents (All whites are abusers, There's always a SUPER STRONG FEMALE character who don't give a f about others, there always have to be a LGBT character included and must be shown how much they suffer from society, etc.). You know, you can label me whatever you want, but in my mind I don't care about the ethnicity or Sex of a character, all I care is a good story and a well written character, no matter what. And keep in mind I'm a minority and come from an abusive background, but when I see the insistence of a recurring pattern, I can't stop but thinking there's an agenda behind it.

I loved BLUE BEETLE - it's a lot of FUN, and clearly a lot of FUN and HEART went into it! It's a great PITCH MEETING - as always! But dude, CHILL OUT with the "don't include ACTUAL HISTORY & ATROCITIES committed by corporations throughout EVERY country below the southern U.S. border - usually with the ASSISTANCE of the U.S. military in my BIG, DUMB, FUN MOVIES " is total B.S.'. "well, I know that a lot of BAD STUFF happened, but...." Nah. No. It's called "grounding your story in the real world.". That's why Marvel has had such a solid fan base since Fantastic Four #1 - it's a world where New York exists, the BRUTALITY of generational slavery/WWII/ the Holocaust/ the Korean War/the Vietnam War/ the September 11th attacks/ the invasion of Iraq & Afghanistan all happened & people are dealing with the TRAUMA of history... THESE MOMENTS define all of US, actual TRAGEDIES that we STILL haven't come to grips with the HORRIFYING nature of ... we have had pop culture tackle TERRIBLE TRUTHS such as domestic abuse (especially Avengers), addiction (especially Spider-Man, Green Arrow & Green Lantern, Batman), emotional scarring, living with disabilities (that were inflicted upon them), and the constant threat of EVIL, RICH tyrants exploiting/ harming working people (especially Lex Luthor, Wilson Fisk, Doctor Doom)... The reason stories resonate with us is when we can empathize/ sympathize with what characters are forced to confront, endure, and overcome... the main focus of any story is "make me care!"... deep personal loss, unjust defeat, dealing with the finality of death - all are powerful realities, and are absolutely REALISTIC... Don't blame writers bc history is littered with generational HORRORS that people around the world - even right here in America - are still living with the damage that was inflicted upon them & their families. Blue Beetle shows characters dealing with the constant question of "what do I do NOW?" - which is the most urgent & important question so many of us are forced to ask ourselves more than once, every day. It is not superhero fatigue, it is fans quitting to watch after a couple of bad movies and series. As soon as they make ones with popular heroes, that are close to the comics, the original audience will come back (probably not all of them).

Why would you want to fire someone who has a highly successful track record of making superhero movies? James Gunn's Marvel & DC films have been better received than most of his competitors' movies.

@@Rocket1377 Because up until now he has been a one trick pony. He does jokes and that is where it ends. Not saying he will definitely crash and burn, but I can easily see why people do not see him as a good fit. But hey, after the poopshow that has been DC there is almost nowhere to go but up. Still, not having Henry Cavil as Superman just seems weird. The dude looks like he is genetically altered to be the perfect Superman. Again, I am open to being pleasantly surprised. So I am not going to be happy if he fails or anything. I want him to exceed expectations.

Seems odd that they had that Blue Beetle suit. Somehow I doubt that is part of your family story. Also, there are SO many ways to make her comfortable with guns that do not include real world messaging. Literally infinite ways. They chose THAT way so they could preach.

Sorry, i rather watch the guyver then blue beetle. If even the main star doesnt want to promote the movie its useless to go see it. Even the trailer gave me a been there done that feeling that it looked more then mediocre and bland.

I think you got stuff mixed up. He very much wanted to promote the movie, but he wasn't allowed to do it because of the strikes. It's his first big movie role, so that's really a shame.

This film has all the hallmarks of the DC film’s half-assed, rushed story-telling. Relying on a familiar family dynamic for cheap gags and a rubbish villain with zero motivation just proves DC still sucks off the page.

Well... It was mid at best. The family angle was atrocious.... In animated stuff, Shazam has only an old man as "family", Blue Beetle also has not a big family... The movie Maker's dont understand that most superheroes have motivation cos they lost their families.. They want bad gays behind bars so they can't hurt other people, they want to prevent other's from loosing a family member to bad/evil people/entities... But in live action they really focus hard on making the movies a family thing, to attract more viewers, but they also make the character more kid/innocent then they where in the comics or animated stuff... So from that perspective for me, Shazam and Blue Beetle movie's fail miserably.. they turned these awesome characters to toddler proof silly characters... Watch Superman and Shazam the Return of Black Adam (Animated movie), now that is a good movie...

DUDE, I love Blue Beetle and this movie was a complete disrespect to this character. BLUE BEETLE IS THE WORST FUCKING MOVIE IN DC HISTORY. TERRIBLE CAST AND TERRIBLE SCRIPT. EQUALLY IF NOT WORSE THAN THE FLASH AND THE FIRST SUICIDE SQUAD. But now I'm happy because now that the trash is out of the window James Gunn can finally focus on work for his real NEW DC plans. And please please Get rid of Xolo Maridueña, he sucks, cast a young ( real teenager) Native Mexican-American boy that knows how to act and tries to lean on the same route you guys did on Young Justice. NO GUERRILLA FAMILY OR BATMAN IS A FASCIST.
