Tony after years following your tutorials I finally got to play and memorize a whole song including melody, chord and improvisation on the piano 🎹 and It’s a great achievement for an ukulele player switching to piano very lately. Now I am eagerly waiting for the next step, what standard do you usually teach after this to your beginner level jazz students? Please don’t say Giant steps, as I am capable only of dwarf steps, Thanks 🙏 maestro!

Thanks for the excellent instruction Tony! G7 to C-, I think of that G7#13 as a Db7 Tritone going to the C-, and use Db7 voicing, potato-pototo I guess

Thanks for this video. I play in a salsa band and we play this tune. In fact, all latin musicians here in Washington DC know this tune and it is part of our gigs repertorie. I love your videos🙏🏾GRACIAS..please upload some brazilian tunes

I am going back through the playlists, don't say that ! can we talk about the borrowerd Chords the way I am looking at this as 2, 5, 1 , inside another 2, 5, 1, which is Db would that be wrong, or where would the Db come from since its obviously not from phyrig. lol this is what make music so hard. SO awesome to find your channel tho. I have been looking for a 2.,5, 1 IN minor please any other jazz standards that you know like this would be helpful as they are very hard to find. C harmonic minor , with a mini 2.,5, 1 Db because of the Ebm (instead of Major) is that where that's coming from?

Thank you Mr. Tony. You have elevated my piano playing to a higher level. I am a songwriter, so I never really was interested in learning other people's songs, etc. But watching your videos make my piano parts in my music more full. It gives it that mmmmm good sort of feeling. Keep doing what you do because you do it well. First name Roger and my last name Cook. 4/22/2022

Great lesson! Question: Why is it sometimes a 13 and other times a 6? Isn't that the same? Never understood this.
@ThomasCBond
@ThomasCBond 2 года назад
Really depends on the function of the chord. Usually a 13 is a tension on a dominant to give it more direction, while a 6 is a tonic chord that is more at rest.
@TonyWinston
@TonyWinston 2 года назад
If there is a 7th in the chord, the addition of a 6th is usually called the 13th
